Its when I come home to UK I feel more likely to make the mistake. I actually find it easier with a right hand drive car abroad than hiring. Just keep to kerb...
Its an easy mistake to make, I, ve done it...in UK. Luckily road empty and realised after 20yards or so.
Over the years I have driven right and left hand vehicles in both drive on left and drive on right countries.

I'm sure my driving is far from perfect, but the only really difficult issue I remember was the very first time I drove a LHD car in Germany. Had driven over in my own RHD car. Then swapped to a friend's car. Unfamiliar car. Gearstick and handbrake in wrong places (first time I had ever driven LHD). Fairly new driver. A big cross roads on what was basically a dual carriageway but with trams, pedestrian and cycle paths which conspired to make me want to turn down the wrong "exit". I didn't but I had to think and take it carefully.

That's a job for Pinewood Studios, producing historic fiction paid for by the commercial world that those who want it can enjoy. I don't know if you are aware of it, but much of that pageantry is fake history, created by Queen Victoria. A glance at the royal coach she inherited before she had that two and half ton golden monstrosity created reveals the truth. That previous one is very small, plain varnished wood with just four little golden lanterns, one at each top corner. It's still kept at Buckingham Palace together with a couple of other royal coaches created relatively recently, one by an Australian. Information Link

I want an efficient modern non-confrontational parliamentary arena, devoid of historic influences and old or fake ceremonies.

If the present Houses of Parliament building could be made satisfactorily safe it could become a museum for tourism.
.
Given that media companies (TV, film, etc.) have already re-created the current HoC, perhaps we should get those companies to develop a modern arena and let the MPs debate in it when not being used for filming? Saves them having to build a separate one as a replica. After all, what is a bit of proroguing among non-confrontational parliamentarians to make it available for their filming schedules?

Better still demolish it and build a more modern

This tweet exposes the sham of Patel's making criminals afraid of commiting crimes, now they can keep their money laundering private.

Hugely disappointed but sadly not surprised that the properties register bill has been dropped from this so-called "law and order" Queen's Speech. This register would stop the secrecy for the super-rich that buy UK property and is vital in the fight against economic crime

Speculation in Irish and EU circles was that BJ wanted to delay agreement until the last minute in order to create maximum impact from the blond bombshell, and limit scrutiny. The EU does not appreciate that.
there is not much of a point keeping MPs from scrutinise his deal.
his problem is like his predecessor's, how to keep the DUP and the ERG MPs onboard.
Whatever deal he may have with the EU will never be good enough for those who bet on the depreciation of the Pound and UK producers stock.

We have different outlooks on this. My concern is with the EU.
The UK centric Media and indeed this forum is fixated on the HoC...for obvious reasons, but the big picture is the EU

‘Foreign collusion!’ Fury as John Bercow holds Brexit talks with new EU president
JOHN Bercow has sparked outrage after it has emerged the meddling Speaker of the House of Commons has bypassed Prime Minister Boris Johnson and British Parliament to negotiate with the EU on Brexit for the United Kingdom.

As far as I understand, the EU will have to live with UK's outside its customs union if brexit happens because the UK collects something like £10 billions a year in duty from its imports outside the EU. You can't expect the UK continue to hand that sum over just for the sake of keeping NI border free of checks.
A solution needs to be found for two customs regimes on one territory.
It's not urgent but the outline is pretty much what the UK proposes.

JRM claims the tories have now enough votes to get Bojo's deal through parliament whenever he brings it back.
I find that difficult to believe because the BBC intensifies the re-education program: Ed Ball on BBC2 'What Britain buys and sells in a day' - clearly aimed at teaching voters how much we depends on free flowing customs border.
Let me add a small story: last month, our shipment of Tongsheng TSDZ2 got pulled for customs inspection. The shipment cleared customs in August, between the shipping company and customs warehouse, they managed to hold on to it for 5 weeks. Border force opened two cartons - disturbed nothing and resealed them.
Cost to me: £1,200 + VAT for secure warehousing rent.
Just imagine how many more shipments will be inspected after brexit and you can see there is serious money to be made in secure warehouses.

Shall we all chip in and buy one?

I will employ Gerald as a security guard on the understanding he is not allowed to have a device that can post in here or browse the daily express and daily mail.

We might get a day's work out of him with these measures in place.

As I now see it, the EU is and has been ,for some time, resigned to a UK wide Crashout in a fortnight. They are seeking to see what amelioration can be done regarding NI. The prospect that BJ floated last week was tantalising ,and made a WA deal potentially feasible. But .... the DUP are not playing ball.

I'll take the position on the understanding that you are employed in a capacity where you can do something useful, I'll train you how to clean the toilets.
Now that is showing optimism in your generation, perhaps too much in fact.

You're never suggesting Boris is going to lose his unbroken record of success over this?
Surely not:rolleyes:
After all he won his first vote today (after only eight attempts)
