You had all those people close to you. Touching you even. And you didn't get off?

I get off when I'm in that situation. Luckily/unfortunately o don't usually travel at those times of the day.

Next time make sure you get off.
Maybe he isn't a frottagist?

It wasn't an option though, keeping to an appointment.

I had similar conditions on a Croydon tram once. Already quite full the next stop coincided with a school's kids coming out and pouring on board. The two car trams are licenced to carry 150, but I was able to count roughly 200 in the front car I was in. But the most memorable thing that trip wasn't the crowding, it was the noise levels of a huge hoarde of kids bursting with energy fresh out of school.

I think all five million were on the last underground train I was on.

Talk about compulsory intimacy! It took ages to get the doors to close before we could move off, due to all the bodies bulging out.

And that was just the train. The platform, pedestrian tunnel and escalators we left were all packed with seething bodies jammed together.
.
Its borderline antisocial, but i find swinging a pointy vintage folder that looks as if it could disintegrate (bickerton)creates just enough personal space

Have to say, I have never thought we would, or could, be ready for a no-deal brexit.

UK official in charge of Brexit border plans resigns
Karen Wheeler’s resignation stokes fears the UK will not be ready for a no-deal Brexit by October
The government official in charge of delivering “frictionless” Brexit border arrangements, including emergency plans for Dover and Ireland in the event of no deal, has quit just two years into her job.

Karen Wheeler, director general of Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs Brexit border delivery group, was the lead official coordinating a cross-Whitehall response involving police, ports, customs and freight interests.

Her departure is being seen as a blow to the government and increasing the risk that the UK will not be as prepared for a possible no deal on 31 October.

“Nothing is happening in Whitehall now. Lots of people have been stood down on Brexit no-deal preparations and there is a general risk that people are just going to see this hiatus as an opportunity to clear off and go into the private sector,” said a source who knows Wheeler.

I would read this somehow differently. I have respect for the professionalism of civil servants . However there comes a point at which ones advice is been ignored for once to many times. The breaking point can be reached and the gross ineptitude, contradictory requirements issued by their political masters so they jump ship and go into the private sector. The number of instances where this has happened in the Brexit "debate" is unprecedented

Help Britain Charity Film (1971)

In 1971 the council released a short film which predicted the state of the nation by 2025. While the film is no longer extant, these three frames have been found in our archive.

According to the transcript, the film anticipated Britain joining and leaving the European Union and becoming a nation of racist immigrants who intern themselves in camps and try to get themselves deported. It also predicted that Southern Britain would become a dumping ground for international toxic waste. This leads to the genetic modification of Brits who eventually become a delicacy in Japan and the only known food item that complains.

Poor lord Nigel? what happened to his glorious walkover victory?

readers comment in the Express
"This is what happens when you give disgusting sponging immigrants the right to vote."
And
"you need to check the votes especially as many people may have voted twice , very suspicious! however their are many Muslims in Peterborough who are strong Labour supporters as well as many Eastern Europeans..."
Also
"So a constituency that voted overwhelmingly for Leave in the EU Referendum, voted overwhelmingly for the Brexit Party in the European Elections, and ousted their Labour MP for dishonesty. Has now voted for another Labour MP, despite Labour being a pro-Remain party? This despite all polls predicting a Brexit Party win by quite a large margin. And we're expected to believe that this result hasn't been rigged? Do me a favour...."
plus
"something smells rotten, how many people voted twice for Labour, I would double check if I were nigel"

In the end there simply wasn't enough of these delightful people to pull it off!

I was not pointing my finger at the civil servant here, nor the civil service. Rather, the environment in which she was expected to deliver. Plus, even if she and all the other civil servants worked as diligently as possible and delivered exactly what she was asked for, I don't think we as a country will be ready.

1) Nigel Farage, the Brexit party leader, left the count through a backdoor just minutes before the result was announced.

[ You can have fun with a few minor word and vowel changes there. ]

2) Blame everyone else because you and your like-minded supporters failed to turn out. There was another 52% of the electorate available to cast their votes. I have little doubt had every registered voter who claimed to be a brexit supporter actually voted it might well have swung another way.

3) Learn English, proper English, before commenting in public: however their are many

4) If you wish to talk about rigged votes...

[ Note: Yes, I have made plenty of typos in public comments including places where editing is not an option. I just couldn't resist however hypocritical. ]

Look, I don’t support the Brexit party at all, and agree entirely with your earlier post showing all of those large companies who are either closing down operations in the U.K. or on the verge of doing so. Why would anyone support that?

However, what I think happened in Peterborough is this. A group of Jew hating racists with Nazi tendencies, who’s previous representative received a custodial sentence for the worst kind of dishonesty, just edged over the line and into first place as a result of postal voting electoral fraud. No one will dare to investigate for similar reasons that child abuse and grooming were allowed to continue place in areas such as Rotherham and Bradford. Peterborough has similarities.

The above should be the headline because it’s one of the biggest threats we face. Instead the focus is on other aspects because they are easier and less risky to report and investigate. We only “do” easy and safe in the U.K. these days.

Tell me, does being critical of Israel and it's policies to the Palestinians class as Jew Hating?
And where do the Nazi tendencies come into that?

And are you saying that "Jew Hating" is purely among the ranks of the Labour Party?
And if you are, ask yourself who is making that accusation and ignoring the fact it exists in the other parties to fit an agenda?

There is good news for you in the Free Trade agreement published by the USA

https://ustr.gov/sites/default/files/Summary_of_U.S.-UK_Negotiating_Objectives.pdf

Here is the relevant section

"- With respect to commercial partnerships:
 Discourage actions that directly or indirectly prejudice or otherwise discourage commercial activity solely between the United States and Israel;
 Discourage politically motivated actions to boycott, divest from, and sanction Israel;  Seek the elimination of politically motivated nontariff barriers on Israeli goods, services, or other commerce imposed on Israel; and
 Seek the elimination of state-sponsored unsanctioned foreign boycotts of Israel, or compliance with the Arab League Boycott of Israel.

Once the Americans have us in thrall no one will even dare to mention anything the Jews don't like, and there will be no possibility of criticism of Israel no matter what it does.
Is that what you want? to have these people tell us all what to think and not dare criticise them under any circumstance?
They seem to have the USA by the short and curlies don't they?

Let me be clear
Hatred of any race is completely wrong
Criticism and if necessary action in response when any nation without exception behaves inhumanely to its neighbours is not merely our right, but our duty as a civilised nation.

Taking the word of people who have a proven track record of being bare faced liars like the leave campaign an the BXP is one of the biggest threats we face."

That and allowing foreign powers like Russian, America, China and now Israel
Telling us what we can and can't do is another serious threat.

PS: you are assuming which side has employed electoral fraud.
Why is that ? how do you know the BXP didn't?
Does that mean you believe that they are basically an honest bunch of do gooders?
My god!

Ask yourself this, had the BXP won by even one vote, would the other parties be crying "foul?"
The truth is the BXP is employing the same techniques the Nazi party did of posing as being discriminated against in the 1930's

The BXP supporters do not seem pleased
So, if you live in a house with 13 others, you are denied the vote?

So, if you are Pakistani (or Pakistani background), you are denied the vote?

It would be interesting to know what proportion of Pakistanis living 14 to a house would dream of voting brexit party. In the absence of a 14-to-the-house-Pakistani party, which party would anyone expect them to vote for?

In other news the The National Audit Office has confirmed that the Government has spent £97 Million pounds on Brexit so far and we had only set aside £56 Million

But what's a few quid here or there?

Tower Hamlets.

Unless there are very exceptional circumstances, it should be compulsory to attend a polling station with full face photographic ID before being allowed to cast a vote. I think Labour’s share of the votes would fall dramatically if that were the case and I think they would not have won in Peterborough.
