From todays Irish Times ....

"With an uncharacteristic flash of Churchillian passion, German chancellor Angela Merkel has promised to push for an orderly UK departure from the EU “to the last day, to the last hour”.

Her promise follows a new German study suggesting the Republic of Ireland would be the second-biggest economic loser from a hard Brexit, with an annual loss off economic power equivalent to €720 per head of population.

The study by the Bertelsmann Foundation found that a no-deal Brexit would cost Germany about €10 billion annually, or €115 per head of population. Britons have the most to fear: an economic slump of €57 billion annually or €900 per head of population.

After Ireland (€720 per capita), the study says a hard Brexit would hit hardest, in order, France and Italy."

Obvious really....

Thanks for flagging it up. i tried to sign it a moment ago but am still waiting for confirming email. It said its up to seven hundred and something thousand
edit - its worked (email came through)! parliament considers debating any petition over hundred thousand
Well, well, well!! How low can the Losers stoop.. tut-tut!! What a Sham..how embarassing :D:D

A petition backed by all of the faces who had been pretending to care about holding another referendum for the sake of ‘democracy’ have been sharing a new petition entitled ‘Revoke Article 50 and remain in the EU.’ They’re not even bothering to pretend to be democrats any more…

The petition saw a suspicious jump in signatures last night, with blatantly fake signatures arising everywhere from Russia, to Afghanistan, to North Korea. Tens of thousands of signatures have also come from EU states including Jean Claude Juncker’s tiny Luxembourg…

Signatures have even come from non-country ‘Western Sahara’, and Vatican City.
Remainers are using sham numbers, dodgy foreign actors, and disinformation

If the IT Crowd in the British Government are so inept, that they have not yet discovered geo locking, perhaps they need to talk with the BBC,SKY NOW and virtually every other commercial company who have made this a standard procedure.

Is that the sound of the penny landing or is it still dropping?

We all know this is how the EU negotiate but have they miscalculated how thick May is?

The backstop will be changed that much is obvious. It will probably be enough to get it through but it shouldn’t be. It’s a terrible deal for the UK. I’ve always felt the backstop argument was a smokescreen for the more sinister and binding aspects of the treaty.

39bn for a worse deal than we have now.

Well played May!

I’m still holding out she is so dumb we get the wto deal. Maybe she is a genius and this was her plan all along....

the parliament website is neutral.
Out of 902,712 petitioners, 866,425 (96%) are from the UK, 4% are from overseas petitioners.
The number of overseas petitioners (36,287 or 4%) is relatively modest.
To me, there is no obvious sign of cheating.

Yeah course... Tuvalu is swarming with them this time of year
If you take France as a yardstick, about 300,000 Brits live in France, 7600 have aldeady signed the petition, that's over 2%.
Tuvalu is ex British colony, so you would normally expect some are British Nationals.
Even if only 1% are UK nationals, that's 120 people and probably half of them are remainers.

It might be reasonable to try to permit TM to resign with what might pass as dignity. What is utterly intolerable is for her to get another job, senior, junior or toilet scrubbing. Absolutely anything she were appointed to would be so heavily contaminated by her history that it would be impossible for her to perform it properly.

(A new brush and toilet duck might help a bit. But still not adequate.)

Senior Eurosceptics were discussing ways to give May a “dignified exit” if her deal passes next week, perhaps by offering her another senior job if she promises to resign soon.

This woman has cost the country far too much to deserve anything other than a dishonourable discharge (Hmm that sounds like one of Moggs speeches)

Wow!. I have to agree with you that the
1. The backstop is a smokescreen.always was
2. I try not to comment on individual UK politicians ,but last nights press statement was a monumental own goal.
3. The 39b needs to be paid whatever. ..otherwise the UK becomes nth. korea.
4. The EU have stopped negotiations. .. now they could reopen them if there was a change in government.

Truly only a simpleton could fail to spot that this is fake news, and one of our residents did
Well done tommie where is this supposedly proof of a remainer plot?
Just as likely to be Putin's merry men and women, but you had to try and blame remainers, didn't you?
Why? simply because you were desperate to score points again.

Dodgy foreign actors were the tools of choice of the leave campaign remember?
However I will say this there was a Petition calling for a re run of the Referendum in 2017 which reached 4 Million signatures, 77,000 of those were rejected and the Government simply mentioned it's existence and ignored it.
This one won't make any difference and yes I signed it, after all I respond to your posts, don't I?
