Ok so the house stops No Deal, nobody seems to want May’s deal,Corbyn doesn’t want a second vote ,the EU don’t seem to want an extension to Art 50,there doesn’t seem to be the votes to remain and May won’t revoke Art 50.....so where the hell are we going.
KudosDave

Let me now see, is it yourself or the other clone who is the brilliant Economist?. A billion here a billion there, its only small change but it adds up. The EU will have a Transaction Tax, , The Irish Revenue will have a real 12% Corporation tax...maybe even higher if the EU has its way. Those wealthy bankers still have to pay personal income tax, eat in fancy restaurants, send their kids to the International School, (which will be a cost saving compared with Harrow), get sick, go to the Blackrock clinic, buy that rugby gear ,and pay property tax.
40 billion in transferred assets by one bank is not small change, but then if course ,we don't know how many other banks each with their 30 ,40 billion each... With 10 or so it might actually matter....
Note this business is now lost to the City of London ,and will not be going back.
Each of the contracts signed in the City of London attracts a small stamp duty tax,but even a small duty on a lot of big transactions, builds up. Money which the HM Revenue use to pay for education ,police services ,hospitals etc....
It’s a weird one because all I can get is this.

https://www.europeanceo.com/finance/barclays-hq-to-move-to-dublin/

And that’s two years ago.

This is more recent

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-business-44910560

2500 extra jobs in Scotland.

Then I found this.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/news/barclays-to-keep-global-hq-in-london-no-matter-outcome-of-brexit-a7547546.html

So maybe there is some confusion in your paper or maybe they are just being nationalistic like lots of countries with small populations are?

Barclays global operation isn’t leaving London. They do need offices in an EU state to carry on business evenly in the EU. And they chose Ireland as they showed more ankle thanks to their low cost business rates. Which I reckon will be called time on by the jealous EU pretty soon after we leave.

Panic over!

It’s all ballocks. The debt doesn’t exist. It’s a myth.

It’s all smoke and mirrors. Look what happened the last time. Just print bits of paper and call it money.

The world never ceases to amaze me. Daughter been saying they often get stones and eggs thrown at fire engines when they are on calls. I just dont understand it.
Fire crew turn up to save lives often putting themselves at risk and get abuse from some. What on earth is that about???
Relative deprivation and anomia is what a sociologist would say. Imagine you're an unqualified late teen fed a diet of you tube pulp about vapid celebs and instant millionaires (that's the anomia, the breakdown of traditional societal boundaries, aspirations). Naturally one would feel entitled to the same. But being an unqualified adolescent in say Watford, that's never going to happen, and the gulf is wide and ever growing and life seems increasingly crap, and enraged.

Half the cabinet will resign if the right wing fascists known as the ERG attempt to take us off the cliff of no deal, legally binding amendments on February 27 will stop no deal.
KudosDave
Dave, you haven`t got a clue have you?
Get it into your head only statute can overrule statute, not a vote by mp`s that in effect is only advisory and nothing more.
Your only hope is that the EU will give in on the backstop at the 11th hour.

Which they will. But for me it’s still not enough.

Where are our citizens rights from the EU 27? Where is our dividend from 39bn? What trade deals that are guaranteed?

The backstop is a feint by the EU imo. And we are swallowing it hook line and sinker.

Look at the dates on your newsclippings again.. The Irish Independent refers to a conference yesterday, your latest clipping is from a year ago. Yes Barclays and others do need branch offices in the EU to service EU customers. It will not matter to Barclays international or HBC and dealing with China or India whether it is situated in EU or London ,but the EU is still its larger market.
Just as Aviva ,which has its insurance company registered in Scotland, has created an Irish operation to transfer people like me ,to have the terms we enjoyed last year. I received notification of that a few months ago. The irony here is that it is only a few years ago that they had consolidated their business from Ireland to the UK. In the case of Aviva its only small business but

A statute is just a fancier word for a document that has been voted on...
I don't believe that the EU will budge on a backstop, unless the conditions being proposed by London make it redundant..
The UK has really got itself twisted up on this one. The only clear position at the moment is a slide towards no deal crashout.

.. they are big words. But I think I get the gist.
In the early 1980s the glamourous Dallas soap opera was on . Now I had a good job, reasonably well paid, respected and responsible position etc. Yet I was feeling resentment on a Monday morning that I did not have all the trappings of Dallas ... jet planes , and a huge ranch and a collection of beautiful women fighting over me.( I had to make do with the one beautiful woman ). I had to give myself a talking to...That is what TV can do. .. so it's not just unqualified adolescents....

How does house stop no deal?
see Yvette Cooper's motion planned for 27-Feb.
the motion if voted will force the government to extend A50 until a deal is approved.

usually immigrants.
when productivity stalls, the only way to stop the economy from crashing is more young adults, ready to work for lower wages.

Do not try and create a justification for worthless scum to attack and assault Emergancy Service workers who are trying their best to help other people. It’s Nazis such as you who provide the fertile ground for that type of sewage to flourish in our society. You are equally as bad as those actually throwing the rocks and physically attacking the service workers. Shut up and take your filth elsewhere.

You do provide a quite vivid impression of the deeply flawed thinking - and misplaced rage - behind leave voters decision to leave. Blaming others for everything that's wrong in your life is not a meaningful way to live. I'm sure the xenophobia that was part of the brexit decision was fuelled by the same projecting into others and impotent rage so obvious in your post. It doesn't get us any ware does it? How about trying to grow up and engage in slightly more adult behaviour and have a more informed grounded disagreement?
