Why on earth was this dunderhead ever given the job of negotiating with the EU?
he wasn't. His brief was to prepare the UK for a possibility of hard brexit. Even so, he did his job badly like all the 'purist' brexiteers in TM's crew except Gove.
If Raab had done his job properly, it would have dawned on him that the UK could not afford a no deal brexit. His stubbornness is to blame.
He is not alone in this. His former boss was same. Hard brexiters should have accepted the Irish Sea customs border deal and made the DUP accept that reality until such a time that a proper technical solution can be built.

Interesting part of the reader comment was this
"There are many things from the UK that EU countries need."
He seems to lack common sense on this point
In fact I think I prefer Irish Cheddar, has a bit more taste to it...

Prices slashed and an even worse obesity epidemic?
.
Unless the population at large feels secure, it could be that all the stored food will be bought without any price slashing - possibly even increasing prices. Belief in that possibility, even likelihood, might be why the food industry is willing to stump up for this stockpiling.

I was a Remainer and am still a Remainer . I could never see how Brexit could be a social nor economic success, but accepted it as a vote against austerity by the forgotten population.
you could have said that some people don't think that we'll be worse off leaving.

Sam Delaneys show as **** as it was, was totally independent of RT and it’s agenda. He had loads of guests on.
Sam Delaney's News Thing was a weekly television programme produced by RT UK

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2014/mar/31/nigel-farage-relationship-russian-media-scrutiny

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/nov/18/mps-kremlin-propaganda-channel-rt

"Nigel Farage's near monthly appearances on state-owned Russia Today have come under scrutiny after his expression of admiration for Vladimir Putinthis week.

In one of his 17 appearances on the channel seen by the Guardian and transmitted since December 2010, he claims Europe is governed not by elected democracies but instead "by the worst people we have seen in Europe since 1945".

The Ukip leader has appeared so frequently that he is cited in literature for the TV station Russia Today as one of their special and "endlessly quotable" British guests. "He has been known far longer to the RT audience than most of the British electorate," Russia Today claims."

I’m the opposite of a fan to Delaney but there was a recent story in the guardian.

Make your own mind up,

In the Daily Mail AKA Mrs May's Weekly
She tries saying things to appeal to the Brexit Voters
"
May to face down Tory rebels: Prime Minister will insist her Brexit deal delivers on immigration promises and tells ministers her Northern Ireland plan cannot be changed

Then proceeds to shoot herself in Both Feet

"It will no longer be the case that EU nationals, regardless of the skills or experience they have to offer, can jump the queue ahead of engineers from Sydney or software developers from Delhi.

Haven't you heard Mrs May?

Brexit Voters don't want people coming from there either and they could and did because you never limited their numbers even though you had the power to do so while we are EU members, so what's new?
And the result of Brexit?
From the BBC
Thousands of nurses needed in North West hospitals, figures reveal
By Gill Dummigan Health Correspondent, BBC North West
Greater Manchester had the highest number of vacancies, with 1,559 nurses and 223 consultants needed.

The figures reveal that one trust - the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust - is 450 nurses short, equivalent to 9.7% of full staffing.

A trust spokesperson said this was "in line with the lower end of the national average."
Recruiting Indian doctors
The latest NHS figures, taken between January and March 2017, show the North West has the third highest number of doctor vacancies in England.

In response to the crisis, many hospital trusts have been getting increasingly creative in their search for staff.

Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Foundation Trust has begun recruiting hundreds of doctors from India and Pakistan through a mixture of contacts and social media.

The medics are already qualified, but will get extra training and experience while the hospitals get the staff they need..

So much for "Controlling immigration" it only applies to the EU, not everywhere else.
I was under the impression that the Brexiteers actually wanted "British jobs for British people"
So what have they actually got for their vote?
The exact opposite of what they wanted of course.

The principle being they are happy to recruit staff for the NHS from anywhere so long as someone else pays for their education and qualifications.

What does that say about the future awaiting our next generation?

Boris brands May's Brexit deal 'an appalling sell-out leaving us facing colonial rule by foreign powers' as he unveils his six-point plan to 'get out of this hole'
  • Ex-Foreign Secretary said the PM's deal 'betrayed Leavers and Remainers alike'
  • He called for scrapping the Irish backstop and refusing to pay £39bn divorce bill
  • But he did not add his name to the list of MPs demanding a party confidence vote.
The reader's comments were uniformly anti!

Such is the power of the media! George Orwell and many, many others (not least in pre-war Germany) recognised the dangers of the press, as it was around 70-80 years ago, being one and the same as the ruling party.

One only has to look at the lack of joined-up thinking displayed by the 'Brexit'-supporting fools who contribute here, regurgitating the same hackneyed expressions as the bent politicians they revere, never, ever, explaining how 'Brexit' might improve the lot of the British people.

That any human beings in the 21st century should hold such views is ample proof that the brainwashing programme and the dumbing down of society has been manifestly successful.

This government has demonstrated appalling dereliction of duty, most particularly in its shameful handling of the NHS. Never can I remember any government so patently unfit for purpose.

In the Guardian this morning.
The Guardian view on Brexit delusions: the EU27 have a say, too

The draft withdrawal agreement has not shaken but hardened the wishful thinking of leavers

My reponse was
When something based on lies and subterfuge has reached the point where there is clearly only one original objective that can be achieved, that of protecting offshore Tax swindles for the wealthy, and literally nothing else that isn't a dream of a distant future fantasy, it is time for a people's vote.

Not only about the EU membership , but reform of a Parliamentary system where lobby groups and dark money determine the future of the nation, by using mass media to sway public opinion away from the truth.

If the Brexit vote meant anything it meant that the public are protesting about the way the country is run and want change.

The fact is that the wrong target was selected from a Generation long campaign of propaganda merely obscured what the protest was about.

We need Government for the People en masse not for any section , lobbyists, Friends of Foreign Nations, or Industrial or commercial pressure groups.

And the likes of Cambridge Analytica need to be classed as subversive and banned

If ever a demonstration were required of the British government's propaganda wing behaving in the interests of their masters rather than the British people, it is in their avoidance of headlining the UN report on poverty in the UK.

Most particularly, the BBC's efforts in that direction makes their 'Children in need' campaign seem very shallow indeed.

I just caught up with a video clip which I missed a few days ago but it is an intelligent assessment of where we are in the 'Brexit' matter. I shan't attach the clip here lest it causes any 'page-jumping' problems but I have supplied a link which enables anyone interested to watch the clip outside of the forum.

There's no substitute for the capacity to think and use logic, something absent in the minds of those who have attempted to proclaim 'Brexit' as something desirable.
