Perhaps Corbyn prefers not to spend the thick end of a grand on a coat that he would only wear on a handful of occasions each year. I like the fact he chooses not to wear the same uniform as the rest of the political class.

I do indeed 'flecc'! It hasn't escaped my notice that both the tory attendees today, along with the pink tories and that man for all seasons, Vince Cable, (he might still be a laughable demorat but one can never be certain as he changes his politics so often.)

The Crombie overcoat of course; an essential part of any gentleman's wardrobe in town, as worn by shady politicians, Arfur Daley, several well-heeled gangsters and a host of Nigel Farage lookalikes in the City and at Canary Wharf, frequently replete with velvet collar……but not, it seems, by honest brokers of a socialist and humanitarian bent.

I really don't pay any attention to polls as the only real test of public opinion is delivered when a national referendum or election is conducted. That said, this less than scientific poll conducted from a Facebook site has produced an incredible result; so incredible that I think the site owners probably made it up!

Of course, if it is indeed a true reflection of the opinion of a sizeable number of people, then the whole 'Brexit' nonsense may be drawing to a conclusion:

probably fake. However, it's not important because until the tories lose their grip on power, there won't be another referendum.
Justin Greening sums up pretty well the view of a sizeable chunk of backbenchers this morning on BBC1. If there is a new referendum, there should be three choices: WTO, TM's deal or remain.
I reckon WTO will poll the most popular choice because whoever negotiates a future FTA or a customs union with the EU, they (the EU) will want to decide how and when the UK can get out, WTO is the only choice that does not commit to EU rules.
What the UK should have explored is EFTA membership. It's much easier to leave EFTA than the EU.

Nothing wrong with Corbyn’s coat. Very practical. May on other hand never misses an opportunity for a new outfit from that shop which specialises in clothing for women of a peculiar shape. Chuck in a new pair of leopard prints for the jaunt to the cenotaph & the job’s a good-un.

I’m getting increasingly alarmed by these Emma Thompson / Lilly Allen esq, glitzy showbiz poppies. The ones encrusted with cut glass to make them look ornamental. What sort of person mutates a symbol of huge suffering and loss into a trinket? What is wrong with these people? Why isn’t paper good enough for them? Are they trying to promote themselves as the most “grieviest” person on Facebook or something?

Then there is the new “Autumn Collection” of different coloured poppies for the discerning celeb about town. Just stick with red paper to remember men, women, animals and all who lost their lives fighting other people’s battles for them, and making a few people fabulously wealthy in the process.

We don't need to look back too far to see exactly how such a situation manifests itself, firstly against the people of a country but ultimately, the whole world.

As for the UK's tory politicians and quite a few in other parties, Joseph Goebells identified a common trait thus:

'The essential English leadership secret does not depend on particular intelligence. Rather, it depends on a remarkably stupid thick-headedness. The English follow the principle that when one lies, one should lie big, and stick to it. They keep up their lies, even at the risk of looking ridiculous.'

Goebells also made this very clear:



Goebells' colleague, one Hermann Göring, explained how easy it is to get the people onside……
