Try searching ‘Rees-Mogg IEA’.....it explains why he is happy for us to crash out. He has recently admitted that the ‘Brexit dividend’ may not be available for 50 years.
I used to think he was the guy with the cigarettes ,now I think he can also handle the thumb screws,Hitler losing WW2 must have been a downer for William Rees-Mogg,the 200 club had the support of the King to do a deal with Hitler.
I looked into this IEA outfit.
It appears to me that the use of the word "Institute" is being debased by yet another right wing nut job organisation funded by invisible dark money, employing pseudo scientific research and propaganda to con the public

Has anyone else had this sh!te land in their inbox? Spamming b@stards. I hate them.

Where has this extra money suddenly come from? There has been no dramatic upturn in the economy since we were being told that there was no funding available for wage increases in the public sector. “There is no Magic Money Tree” I believe was the term used by Theresa May to deride Labour’s pledge to increase public sector spending.

Dear,

Today we’ve announced the biggest public sector pay rise in almost a decade, recognising the vital work that teachers, the police, our armed forces, prison officers, doctors and dentists do.
  • This year an early career teacher will get a pay rise of £800.
  • A typical police constable will see £760 a year more.
  • The average soldier will get a £680 pay increase, plus a one-off payment of £300 this year.
This has only been possible because of our balanced approach to the public finances.
Getting debt falling, while investing in our vital services and keeping taxes low.
Backing businesses to help to grow our economy and pay the taxes which fund our public services.
Agree with our decision to increase pay for our dedicated public-sector workers? Then join the Conservative Party today.
These pay rises couldn’t have happened under a Labour government because they don’t know how to handle the economy.
Labour would mean more debt, higher taxes, fewer jobs – and less money available for our public services.
Yours sincerely,

The Rt. Hon. Brandon Lewis MP
Conservative Party Chairman

No, thankfully, incidentally that first part of his signature looks like "Bull" as written by a four year old, and the second suspiciously like an "S" (I wonder what word that would prefix?)

He missed off the most important bit at the end
Then join the Conservative Party today.
Because we're getting lonely

As to the "Right Honourable" bit it should be simple to prosecute the prat under the Trades Description act

Here is a classic case of "Jobs for the Boys"
Brandon lewis Mp etc., etc.Miinister without portfolio

"A minister without portfolio is either a government minister with no specific responsibilities or a minister who does not head a particular ministry. The sinecure is particularly common in countries ruled by coalition governments and a cabinet with decision-making authority wherein a minister without portfolio, while he or she may not head any particular office or ministry, still receives a ministerial salary and has the right to cast a vote in cabinet decisions. In some countries where the executive branch is not composed of a coalition of parties and, more often, in countries with purely presidential systems of government, such as the United States, the position of minister without portfolio (or an equivalent position) is uncommon.

That was the Wikipedia entry
This is my version
Elected as an MP fair enough, but to a Ministership?

Shouldn't their be a third definition? "A minister who is a total retard and one who can't be trusted to go to the lavatory without causing injury to himself or other persons in close proximity."

There is no new money, the individual school/fire station etc has to fund these pay rises out of their current budget....its a con....will probably mean no replacement of staff leaving and the rest paid more.

From today's Irish Times... Is the same thing happening but 10 times as intense at UK ports?.

New checks and facilities are being put in place at Dublin Port in anticipation of Brexit
Dublin Port has started putting up new buildings for customs officials to check vehicles coming off ships and ferries after Brexit.

Eamonn O’Reilly, chief executive of the port, said people travelling by sea will again be met with uniformed officers as necessary checks are put in place when the UK pulls out of the European Union.

“We are building the basic infrastructure that is needed, if you like, to put the man with the peak cap with the harp on it, to check vehicles when they are coming off,” he said.

“But the checks will be much more sophisticated than that. We are doing a lot of work with government agencies. We had 11 civil servants down at five o’clock in the morning last week to have a look at ships discharging at that time, to get a sense of the scale of what is going to be necessary, precisely so we don’t get queues when the necessary checks are put in place, whenever that may be.”

Mr O’Reilly has previously said if the new customs checks are not needed in March 2019, he has “reasonable certainty” they will be needed 12 months after that.

Discussions have been ongoing between Dublin Port, the Office of Public Works and other State agencies about “what they require in Dublin Port”.

Speaking to RTÉ’s Morning Ireland on Wednesday, he said works are also being carried to “strenghten, deepen and build new piers and jetties” as bigger ships circumventing the UK are already arriving.

“We are seeing larger ships coming already, tending now to go on routes directly to continental Europe,” he said.

Dublin Port announced on Tuesday it would invest up to €1 billion in new facilities over the next 10 years.

Let's get this in perspective. Just how long does it take to go to your local Wicks DIY Superstore, buy and 8' x 4' shed and then erect it?

And how much longer does it take to
,1. Recruit and train Customs & Excise officers.
2. Put the public procurement policies and compulsory purchase orders in place, allow the required consultation periods and inevitable appeals.
3. Put the necessary votes and legislation, budgets and funding to do so.
4. Building extensions to warves, docks, roro terminals.?. Engineering takes time
The answer is forever,. When you haven't started.... and when you have an ideological objection.

All as normal up this end, Belfast, Larne, Warrenpoint no sign of any panic measures,
As tillson said, a couple of sheds out of B&Q fitted out with a space heater and tv will be plenty enough

... That's fine, ?. But if you remain in customs union with the rest of the UK, that is NOT where you will need the checkpoint.. .and if you continue to have the border and customs posts on the RED sea, you still won't need it there.

From the Independent
"
Brexit: Britons undermining the country through 'extreme EU loyalty' must be tried for treason, says Tory MEP
David Campbell Bannerman accused of 'putting the knife into free speech' with extraordinary demand

Clearly This is where I have to declare myself

"Guilty as charged"

But then again I take that as a compliment, and the Champions of Brexit as the real people who are committing Treason against the public, and future generations too.

There's an old saying you should take note of

Only if spoken by someone who isn't quite obviously terminally insane.
Alternatively being a Conservative politician will do at a pinch.
