you sound just as critical of her as the brexiters posting on the Express.
She has today chosen a soft brexit course and won't endear herself to the evangelist brexiters for sure.
Well I never! a letter to Santa would be more of a "course" than a Speech filled with as many uses of the term "We want" as that one was, in the full and certain knowledge that she must have, that the EU won't grant almost all of those hoped for concessions.
It was a Smokescreen to kid the Tory idiots along and please the Brexit public.
Nothing more, nothing less.
A waste of time.
We will end up with whatever Brexit the EU decides we shall have. Or nothing at all.
There ought to be a poll that asks if anyone believes otherwise, and most Brexit voters don't
care anyway.
They want the Booby Prize they won.

I think her position ridiculous, amounting to saying we are staying in the Customs Union but will the EU please agree not to call it a Customs Union because it upsets Jacob.

even Corbyn did not dare to call it customs union without the 'a', and he is not held prisoner like she is.

Time for someone to remind the Leave campaigners that they did in fact state categorically before the Referendum that we didn't have to leave either the Customs union or the Market.
They were in fact not something the Brexit Voters actually voted to leave, so quite simply the Government is free to remain in both.
Far be it for me to suggest doing something that gives Brexit even a slim chance of struggling on, but I have simply stated the truth.

So we are going to get all the features of a customs union but it won’t be called a customs union,it will also let us do trade deals with the rest of the world and everyone will love it,except the EU !!!!!!!
KudosDave
It will be a Virtual Customs Union, as in Virtually Imaginary.
With Virtual Borders controlled by Artificial Stupidity.
And people starving Virtuously in the Holy Patriotic Cause of Virtual Sovereigny.
You will be able to get an App on Android and IOS so everyone can play.
Virtual Brexit: Dystopia for Dunces.
When their Smart phones aren't at the Pawn Shop that is.

The European Union
I read the article in the Guardian about "the speech" and I am even more confused than I have been up till now.

When the UK did a lot of trade - other than speculating and money laundering for the rich - it was with members of an Empire. They were kind of a captive audience don't you think? I am not sure that the UK is a very good trading nation at all in consumer goods - for proof you want to leave one of the worlds largest markets, how does that work?

it does not have to work, as long as it is not unthinkable, it will allow the can to be kicked down the road, then it's done enough.

From the Guardian this amusing report
"
Mr Hunt denied Ms May’s speech amounted to an admission that Brexit will not be as easy to deliver as Tory ministers had previously claimed.

“I don’t think anyone ever said that it wasn’t going to be incredibly complex and incredibly challenging,” he said, adding that trying to negotiate a trade deal with the EU is a “complicated venture”.

Liam Fox, the International Trade Secretary, has previously claimed a deal with the EU would be “one of the easiest in human history”, while Brexit Secretary David Davis predicted an agreement would be reached “quickly”.

Ah but that was Yesterday's truth....

that's a very useful way to rattle the hard brexiters.
I watch most Question Time programs. That point has never got to the brexiters among the audience. They know, it's just that they prefer to block it out.

E're Guv in't that Cogniwatsit Disconboobaerashun or summat like that?
Perhaps even more profound is their ignorance of the attitude of the leave camp when it was proclaiming we would not be leaving either the single Market or the Customs Union on the run up to the Referendum!

This may seem totally OT but I don't think so. I,m wondering what the entire cabinet, HoL, HoC , the lot of them are breathing..think its Nitrous Oxide.
Nitrous oxide is widely used as "gas and air"/Entonox and in various mixtures during anaesthesia, and in "substance abuse". Trouble is:

Nitrous oxide produces irreversible oxidation to the Co++ and Co forms that renders vitamin B12 inactive.

The resulting low B12 level then causes neurologic degeneration. So you might be onto something there... ;)
