You can always rely on the Sun to make itself look stupid, and this is one of its most effective acts of Stupidity yet
"
THE SUN SAYS
Boris Johnson’s message to Remoaners is a vital fightback against EU fanatics trying to halt Brexit

The Foreign Secretary's vision for Britain is a breath of fresh air in a time where doom-mongers paint a dreary and unchallenged idea of our nation.

EU fanatics? really? so not wanting change for the worse is being a Fanatic?
And what exactly was this "Vision for Britain"
Are we supposed to guess?

Boris’s speech was supposed to be aimed at unifying the Remainers but ended up only appealing to the hard line Brexiteers.
He accused us Remainers of not supporting the dream of Brexit but did not produce one idea of where we find this dream.
If the rest of the rallying speeches are as bad as this one then the only result can be May down the pan and Brexit with her. Rees-Mogg would probably have been a better orator but May would have been frightened that he would have used it as an opening gambit on his drive to be PM.
How much longer can this government last, the problem is that Corbyn would do no better....Brexit is a disaster however you package it,didn’t Boris used the word disaster except he was looking up his .........!

Having read Boris’s speech in detail....it appears that he is suffering from Brexchosis whilst doing a Toblerone and dogging in Holland or Thailand....maybe I have had a limited education, could someone cleverer than me interpret ???
Did he bring something back from Burma, smuggled in the diplomatic bag ???

He's floundering in trying to undo the damage he's done to himself.

It's obviously dawned on him that backing Brexit has changed his former widespread popularity into one where half the country, the Remainers, despise him.

That means if he achieves his ambition of becoming prime minister, his presence in that role will seriously damage the tory parties chances of re-election. And he may even be prevented from being PM if enough of his party realise that could be the outcome of electing him.

So he's now desperate to repair his image by somehow getting some degree of Remainer support, hence his calling for an end to criticising Remainers and pointing out the sincerity of their position.

Of course it hasn't worked, he simply hasn't got the right kind of skill to achieve that, and the ill feeling against him is far too deep seated. I've always disliked the man and his lifelong selfish ruthlessness, so take great pleasure in seeing his self imposed downfall.

Are remainers only half the country? I'd hazard a guess that if you added in all those who were excluded in 2016 (under-18s being the obvious group), the balance might not be in favour of leaving.
And let the brits in Spain,France and Italy vote....they should have been allowed a vote in the first referendum.

You lot down there need to leave poor old Boris alone. All us SNP supporting sweaty socks up here think he'd be a great PM in the Westminster government. ;) .

Mind you, we'd probably need to get rid of Ms. Sturgeon and get somebody good in to replace her first.

It's the Sun springtime smear campaign season (Obviously fear of Corbyn has become paranoic!)
"
CORBYN AND THE COMMIE SPY
Jeremy Corbyn met a Communist spy during the Cold War and ‘briefed’ evil regime of clampdown by British intelligence

New-found comrade, who was given the code-name COB, even warned the Soviet-backed spies of a clampdown by British intelligence during the height of the war

Fasciating: he met a Female Diplomat in the House of Commons for a cup of tea and conversation.
There is no evidence whatsoever of the nature of the content of that conversation
Then this
"
Cold War expert Professor Anthony Glees, of the Oxford Intelligence Group, said: “These files show Jeremy Corbyn had been targeted by Czech intelligence services.

“Mr Corbyn says he didn’t know, but it shows breathtaking naivete from someone who wants to head the British government.

“These files show there was contact between Corbyn and a Czech intelligence official, even if he did not know it.

Here is a little about the worthy professor
https://caltonjock.com/2014/09/07/professor-anthony-glees-right-wing-expert-on-terrorism/

Professor Anthony Glees is an extreme right-wing British academic considered an expert on, “terrorism” and “radicalization”. He is currently head of the Buckingham University Centre for Security and Intelligence Studies at Britain’s only private university. He is affiliated to the, “Henry Jackson Society” a project for democratic geopolitics which is a British neo-conservative think tank and political action committee (PAC) which is supported by important US neo-cons and by two of Prime Minister David Cameron’s closest advisers and ministers, (Michael Gove and Ed Vaizey).

There nothing like an "unbiassed" opinion
His alas hardly fits that description, does it?

What emerges from all this is that the Right Wing are running scared to use such obvious smear techniques
Interesting there were some pro Corbyn reader comments that have been deleted for some reason.
It hasn't gone down to the roars of approval the Sun expected.

The Daily Mail is running the story too and faring no better with it's readers.
This "Bombshell" was even treated with shall we say disbelief on the BBC as they pointed out how right wing the main source actually is.
It is fated to be a
"Nothing to see here, move along" non scoop.

Thought for the day
"‘O, wad some Power the giftie gie usTo see oursels as the Japanese see us!It wad frae monie a blunder free us,An' foolish notion.’

With apologies to the Bard
From the Guardian this morning.
"
Japan thinks Brexit is an 'act of self-harm', says UK's former ambassador
Sir David Warren says it is time for plain speaking on the impact of Britain’s withdrawal from the European Union
Privately, Japanese policy analysts are puzzled by British government rhetoric about global opportunities flowing from Brexit, according to Warren. Japan, he said, believed the UK’s participation in the world’s biggest trading bloc for goods strengthened its economy and gave it a more powerful voice in the UN, G7 and Nato.

“Japan sees power projection as heavily dependent on economic clout. Brexit is therefore regarded in Japan as an act of medium – and long-term economic, and therefore political, self-harm,”

Too true

From the Independent
"
Government raided £1bn from NHS maintenance budget to keep service going
The swoop on the fund means money for new equipment, cybersecurity and modern facilities shrank by 8 per cent last year
"
This £1bn transfer wipes out the extra £506m of capital investment given by Chancellor Philip Hammond in the Budget 2017, and means available funds will actually fall by £486m.

It also leaves a “black hole” in the Chancellor’s announcement of £3.5bn more capital spending over the next parliament, Labour said.

Nearly £4bn has been “redeployed” from NHS capital spending in the last four years, as ministers are forced to shore up services that have been left stretched to breaking point by years of underfunding."

Remind me what the message was on the Red Bus please, someone 350 what?
And these people will be running the country after Brexit?
Pity the poor NHS!

The European Union
In other news there have been 8 gun incidents (with death or injury, more without) in US schools in the last 7 weeks. These are the people you have a special relationship with?

The European Union
The EU is not united on many issues. The goal is to reach a compromise on many of those issues, it is called diplomacy. You hired a clown and professional liar to do that job...

German interior politics have absolutely nothing to do with the EU.

There is an outfit that goes under the name,'Everytown USA' and it is a gun control advocacy group, apparently.

Although I don't know the details of their criteria, by their reckoning, there have been 18 school shooting incidents since January 1st. They are listed here:

school-shootings-2018

America has many problems at the present time and it seems their political system is now so corrupt that their government is unable to function in ways that protect the public - they really have lost the plot and we would do well do 'unfriend' them. In so doing, opinion of the UK would be improved considerably in the eyes of literally hundreds of countries around the globe.
