Yes, I've already used DSA in conversation and also DK, for we are at least as disunited since the referendum.

Russia is now more united behind their leader than the pair of us.
.
Let me see now DK is already taken
That would make us the DUK pronounced Duck.

Leading logically to a Shakespearean style couplet

"If it walketh like a Duck
and Quacketh like a Duck
Verily it be the Disunited United Kingdom"

Were Having learned the lessons of history, we have abandoned the lifeboats and climbed back on the Titanic to listen to the band.

Indeed, but he is still wrong, as much as anything because he uses the factors you praise as a weapon aginst those less advantaged.
.
To some extent I agree with you in that he does weaponise his ability to communicate and to debate. He has also benefitted from an education at Eton College and Oxford University which, no doubt, has enhanced his skills.

But what is less advantaged? I know people from less privileged backgrounds who could match him in terms of communication and constructing an argument. They are able to do so because they have worked harder that Jacob Rees Mogg to improve themselves. Because Rees Mogg has benefitted from a head-start is no reason to criticise him or say that he is wrong to use his skills as a weapon.

I think sometimes the term, "disadvantage" is a by-word to describe a lazy & slovenly person intent on taking the maximum amount possible in return for as little effort as can be got away with.

I believe that it is the people who fall into this "disadvantaged" category who Rees Mogg wished to tackle, not genuine people disadvantaged by a disability or some other factor beyond their control. Likewise, I suppose that it is the "Disadvantaged" who stand to gain the least from BREXIT.

Oh I can't agree there after all lord Nigel has done very nicely for himself and
apart from omitting Loud Mouthed, Arrogant, Stupid and Rude you described him pretty well.
"a lazy & slovenly person intent on taking the maximum amount possible in return for as little effort as can be got away with."
Well spotted there., I couldn't have put it better myself.
(Do you really think "Moggy" would touch him with a Barge pole?)
And this is interesting
" Likewise, I suppose that it is the "Disadvantaged" who stand to gain the least from BREXIT."

So why did you support it?

What troubles me more about him is not what he says, being a politician that's of little value anyway, but his actions.

His voting record illustrates well that he deserves the title many in the Commons give him, "Member for the Nineteenth Century".

He is in reality the enemy of the majority of today's people.

His constant smirk says it all, he's taking the mickey out of everyone, not least the foolish people of Somerset who keep him in a position of privileged power.

He's living proof of the Darwinian theory of parallel evolution
A testament to the fact that mammals are every bit as capable of evolving highly specialised Parasites, as are all other creatures or indeed plants.
A trait previously though to be virtually the monopoly of Invertebrates.
Mind you, there is a school of opinion that inclines to the belief that he might actually be one of them.

ah the English cultural tradition of prioritising form over function, much the way it prioritises shame over guilt, or preoccupies itself with the way things look rather than what they are, or what is true. it's what made slavery possible, much as it will brexit.

The way in which you respond is in sharp contrast to the quality of communication that we see coming from Rees Mogg.

What are you talking about? Slavery was abolished 182 years ago. Catch up man, for goodness sake.

This is true, mine verges on reality at times and you could never accuse him of that.

But what represents reality in this context? I have no doubt that you sincerely believe that your ideas and thoughts are rooted in reality. But this is just your opinion based on what you choose to read, listen to and take notice of.
Similarly, I am sure that Jacob Rees Mogg believes that his thoughts represent reality with equal passion.

You can't simply dismiss someone because their perspective is out of kilter with your own. This seems to be a common failing amongst many people on this thread.

But not you of course?
By the way I also use rational thought, in making decisions, which for some reason (unfamiliarity perhaps) you failed to mention.

This is an example of individual perspective of what does and does not represent reality.

You and derf believe that the EU referendum will ultimately lead to the repeal of the Slavery Abolition Act of 1833. That is your reality.

My reality says that this will not happen and the EU referendum had nothing to do with the issue of slavery

At this point in your position I would resort to calling you a liar and protest "prove I said that"
Instead I will say, don't be silly, if you try really, really hard you might begin to understand the implication of what was said

May I refer you to post #7872.

You made a very clear link to the return of slavery as being part of the EU referendum

Come on OG, it was only 18 minutes ago. Keep track of what you are saying.

It was actually derf who introduced slavery into the discussion. I merely pointed out that it was actually abolished over 180 years ago.

You then indicated that it is likely to return due to the EU referendum.

Regardless, I mentioned it only for the purpose of illustrating our differing views on what does and does not constitute reality.

With regards to BREXIT, we each have a differing view on what the "reality" of BREXIT will mean. In the last few posts, you have given a glimpse of where your reality datum is positioned.

there is also the proud English tradition of using subterfuge, changing the subject, focussing on minutia instead of the bigger picture to distract attention from what's really going on. it can be funny, and surrealist, and I can find myself liking it when, say peter cook does it as part of satire. unfortunately brexit isn't funny, and is a bit too real for this degree of post structural relativism. whatever perspective you take on it you remain trapped in a service based economy that ahs just completely pissed of its main customer. and told the world were mainly xenophobic halfwits. neither of which bodes well.
