So all you doubters of Mays Brexit credentials, and living in hope protesters, have you heard the cabinet she is putting together. I think that seals her intentions don't you
Perhaps we can conclude or agree just this one small
point? Without buts and maybes and counter arguments,

Trex, let me state only this
The world is a complicated place, much more so than most have any chance in understanding, so we all have to take a stance
You either give everything over to the unelected and often hidden controllers who don't give one fig for the little people, or you stand up for democracy and a process that can deliver for the people as a whole
I am not in principle against the EU you wil be surprised to hear, but in practice I am vociferously opposed because of the self evident corruption and manipulation of the elites for there own benefits
It is wrong, there is no other way to describe it
All true Brendan, the problem is that our own politicians to a man and woman are every bit as bad, and we seem totally unable to change anything by simply electing clones.
All we are doing is giving our fate over to the home grown exploiters of the people and giving them complete power.
And we have only the power to select more of the same in elections.
We deserve better.

Still having anger management problems? sorry to hear that.
Sadly the country is in some danger of going to the dogs, and there being considerable social unrest, so ask yourself which of us is to blame if it does?
I didn't vote for it, so who else is left?
By all means ignore me, who cares?

Well I hope it does as I have previously stated, the theory needs to be tested and lessons learned whether good or bad.
That sit OK with you?

Welcome back OG, I fail to understand how you think Eu control is somehow better than UK control
Perhaps you have some direct line into the guys that will look after Uk interests, or maybe it's our MEP,s
Or the unelected commission
Maybe it's junker you trust or your MEP Farage, or how about that lovely man Kinnock to look after us, or maybe we should support Bair for president
We vote for our parliament in the uk and its success and longevity is a lot stronger than that eu self serving rabble
It seems to me your opinions have no logical basis other than always wanting to be in the thick of an arguement and protesting about everyone and everything
flud , thanks for reminding me I can switch him off, I think it's about time

I still don't think that we will Brexit.
But assuming we do so,it would be very simple to set up a distribution warehouse on mainland UK. My German distributor was given the land upon which his warehouse sits by the local council and he pays almost no business rates.
Maybe the answer would be distribute from Germany with the company HQ in Ireland (12.5% corporation tax),workforce from EE.
I manage a smallish company and am probably too old to want the work involved, but bigger companies would be very tempted I am sure.
Shipping from China makes little difference whether the goods are received at Felixstowe or Rotterdam, they will accept any currency except RMB.
There are some very smart and cheap premises at the hub of Belgium,Holland and Germany near Maastrict/Aachen.,a good location for logistics.
The only country to lose out would be the UK.
Philip Hammond is going to have to come up with a lot of goodies to keep business here in the UK when we are outside Europe.
Is David Davis a confirmed Brexiter?
Still massive legal obstacles to overcome to leave the EU.
Was Boris given a job he hates,he didn't look too pleased when he left No 10, Foreign Secretary is a tough job,not sure Boris is up to it,almost a punishment.
Theresa has been tough and vindictive already.
KudosDave

The whole set up is designed so rest of EU do not really know the true cost. Its terrible. And you condone it because its the EU, which you support blindly.
I don't condone it and now for the third time have said that. I agree it's wrong how Luxembourg operates. But as you well know, I wasn't posting about the external companies like Amazon using their facilities but about Luxembourgs wealth.

Amazon et al are another problem and not specifically a Luxembourg one. We could certainly have a debate about that in which we'd probably both be in full agreement. Only stop the use of Luxembourg in that way and Amazon and co would just shift to another location, there are plenty of countries who would be only too willing to oblige. So neither Luxembourg nor the EU can solve that, it needs international agreement to close off all the loophole/tax evasion countries, starting with the UK who are the leading offender via their Crown Dependancies.

We are also losers of course, our tax revenues from Amazon and the like lost to us. There's a long standing parallel in shipping use of flags of convenience, one which has cost us dear in the past.

I think putting Boris there says something about May's intentions over Btexit. I,m surprised he,s even in.
Osbourne got his just desserts for all his BS.Lying little turd. He did more damage to country trying to justify his position than Brexit could ever do..
She,s outed the pessimist's...Decent start.
Like I said a month ago..time will tell...not flecc or Derf or Flecc and certainly not O my G.

No they couldn't just swap. Luxembourg tax laws are different too rest of EU. If Amazon HQ was in zUK they would have to pay tax to country of origin on profit. I have to pay tax if I work abroad, sell land abroad and so do you. Set a HQ up in Luxembourg and theyy,d find a way around it.
What's the saying. Only 2 things in life are certain. Death and taxes, unless you live in Luxembourg !!!
And its not just Amazon. They are all there. Google, Ebay, Facebook, the lot.
It really is a disgrace and goes against the principles eu is supposed to stand for. More hypocritical than OG.

Looks a misfit on the surface, but his multi-national background and three languages could serve him well.

I agree on the immorality, but I didn't mean the EU when speaking of a swap, these companies could swap to any other country that agreed the same terms. I'm sure that many in this world would, just to gain the revenue, which is why I said it needs international agreement to stop this abuse.

not sure he'll like the job. Far away from Westminster, he'll have to shake hands and have dinners with people he called 'corrupt' not so long ago.
Liam Fox, International Trade: presumably, he's got to demonstrate that there is plenty to be had outside the EU. I can't see what that idiot can do.
It seems to me that May set the brexiters up to fail.

Yes, Boris might not be well received by the Chinese since he has offended them previously. He'll probably be able to clown his way around the western hemisphere though, but that's as far as his humour will travel.

So you accept eu/ Luxembourg is behaving immorally at its core but still support our staying within it ??? I cant follow that logic flec.
I wonder what Eu would be saying if we instigated same tax regime as Luxembourg??? They,d soon grow teeth and probably an army ???
If eu was a proper union rach country within it would have same corporation and private tax systems. It plainly had not so certain countries benefit at the direct consequence of others they are supposed to be " united" with. That's not a union.

still trying to make sly remarks? stick to the topic
But you are right about two things, Osborne was a disaster, strange how it took so long to find that out, and time has started to tell , and if Brexit is to happen it had better not take several years.

In your opinion, the countries involved prefer a democratic approach, and the right to make their own decisions.
Strange that a Brexiter complains that the EU should be more autocratic, but doesn't want that rule extended to us.

As the only person on here to actually predict a win for the Brexit camp, let me make further predictions.
  • The only hope Brexit has is for an immediate start to the process by one of two routes either invoke Article 50, of simple repeal the act of union without bargaining with the EU and rely on luck.
  • Unless we do that the country will divide into three factions
  • And the composition of those factions?
  1. Brexit voters who are disappointed
  2. Remain voters who are disappointed
  3. Don't know voters who are disappointed
Assume for the sake of argument the process begins what then will the public reaction to it be?
  1. Brexit voters who are disappointed at the delay involved to do it.
  2. Brexit voters who are disappointed that have realised the Government is selling them out and simply trying to use them to cut a deal with the EU and renege on the promises made about immigration and jobs
  3. Remain voters who are by now likely to be in the majority and are disappointed at the chaos caused
  4. Far right and left loonies who enjoy the chaos.
  5. Don't know voters who are very afraid for the future
Lets assume the Government gets great terms on access to the free market.
  1. The Remain voters will be relieved though not exactly happy that we have achieved a bit of damage reduction at the cost of losing control of events.
  2. The Die hard Brexit voters won't like not achieving the sort of Brexit they wanted and wonder why they voted for Brexit
  3. The Torys will start to cut back on workers, the disabled and poor's rights and privileges and there's no one to stop them, so that group will be up in arms.
  4. Dont know voters who go back to sleep if they happen to be personally unaffected.
Worst case scenario
The EU demands terms from us we find unacceptable or simply dumps us on the street at the end of the process
Prediction in this case?
Future very bleak.
All voter groups incensed that it has got to this.
And throughout these predictions I have presumed that the economy will actually be OK, otherwise all hell will break loose from the fringe groups, the remain camp and defectors from the Brexit Camp.

As I posted earlier I'm in favour of testing the experiment by invoking article 50 , as delay is only making matters worse.
The government isn't insisting on delay to plan a strategy, it is invoking the delay in the hope that either the EU will throw them a bone, and to test Business reaction, or the problem will fall below the public conscience level.
It simply wont this early, that will take some time.

cue cries of outrage from the usual culprits on here.;)
