the word we hear the most even now is 'the elite'.

can we expect an announcement later today that UKIP is being dissolved, their raison d'être now accomplished?

Tom
It's difficult to see the popularity of UKIP rising now that the UK will be leaving the EU, in fact it's likely to lose a share of the vote. As you say, UKIP has always been about the UK's membership of the EU and that is now, mission accomplished.

Let's not forget that we would not have had this vote were it not for Nigel Farage and UKIP.

It's started already......

Tom
it has. The Pound fell off the cliff in the early hours this morning.
Mark Carney's £250 billion war chest won't last long against the speculative 2,000 billionaires in the world. There is a tactic often seen in this sort of situation called 'dead cat bounce'. The traders will prize money out of the BoE until its coffers are completely empty. I'll give the BoE a week to capitulate.

I don't read anything into that. Every one expected volatility if we exited.

The best thing to do is stop looking at exchange rates minute by minute and have a look in a couple of months when the dust has settled.

To look at exchange rates every two minutes is a bit like battery anxiety on your ebike. Play the long game, see what the trend is over time.

So, Farage on the morning of his finest hour, announces on TV that the NHS WILL NOT be getting the 350 million that the country pays to the EU. I knew that was never going to happen, just as I knew that the figure is wrong. I suspect, however, that an awful lot of people believed the 'Brexit' lies, particularly this one.

Tom
Nigel Farage isn't an MP, so has no say. The constituency which he contested at the last election didn't want him to represent them.

Somehow, I don't think that the Conservatives will choose Boris.
Probably David Davies.

Boris has a magnetic personality and is very popular, but I just don't see him as a Statesman, in fact he is a popular entertainer who unfortunately cannot sing or dance so he is in the wrong profession.

Labour will be under considerable attack in the old industrial heartlands as UKIP move to the left, they have already persuaded traditional Labour voters to go against the party.
Labour is not about the working class now, just the London elite.
We should anticipate tough times ahead as the pound sinks, immigrants leave and house prices fall.
All in all, I think that this referendum was a good thing as it has exposed the huge divisions in this country and totally invalidated the rose tinted spectacle view of the governing classes.
The Conservatives should not feel any safer than Labour now because their party has open, huge sores, and may split up.
Could be a good time to revisit proportional representation. We have it in Wales and it seems to work well.

I don't see Boris Johnson as a statesman either but he could have his use later. Meanwhile David Davies or whoever takes over the party will have a tough remaining term and get the blame for difficult times ahead, so might not be a good choice to fight the next general election.

That's when the tories might cynically exploit the Boris popularity factor by installing him then to win that election.

whoever taking over from Cameron may need to call a snap election.

I'm not sure about the status of that now that we have fixed term parliaments in law? It might need a Commons majority vote for approval, and I'm not sure Labour would feel ready for one. Their smart move might be to let the tories suffer what's coming in the short term. That could suit the Commons SNP too.

there is worst, half of the FTSE failed to open for trade. Whoever has money invested on the stock market must be worried sick.
I'm sure the market will take a big dive today. There are no positive indicators.

my worries are where the Pound will settle. It is traded at $1.37 now but will probably take 10 days to settle and it can go as low as $1.20.
