I am not convinced he will run. Firstly, Sunak is more popular with the MPs than he is. If you compare the names of his backers against Sunak, Sunak has the cream of the party while he's got the dross. Also, the economy is such in a bad shape that he would have to tax more, spend less and still loses at the next GE whether in this year, next year or in 2024.
Or he could lie, compulsively, and bluster. And blame the pandemic, putin. Conservative voters like that kind of thing.
I hope he does, since otherwise I could see Mordaunt winning.
And that I absolutely do not want to happen, since she is a Brexiter who has previously backed Truss, two proofs of very poor judgement.
Added to which I am going to be blatantly sexist in saying I do not want a fourth Tory woman prime minister. Weren't the last three enough?

I agree, but worry that economic pain (and thetes serious dose coming) usually go with a lurch to the right. And that boris is just the kind of pied piper to offer to lead us out of our misery.

their names are listed, I have no reason to doubt the tally.
Currently, Sunak has 78 names + 3 verified MPs but their names are not made public, total 81. BJ has 45 names + 17 who did not want their names in print, total 62. Mordaunt has 18 names + 3 undisclosed names. That's nearly half of all tory MPs. I reckon Sunak will end up with about 140, BJ 100-110, Mordaunt 100-105.
Earlier today Craig Whittaker was on the Johnson list but denied he'd expressed his opinion to anyone.
Can't see him now so might have been removed.
