Brexit, for once some facts.

I have to renew our gas supply contract sometime this month.
The new price is 10.5 times the current price we are paying.
My first reaction is to go electric.
I was in France last week. Leroy Merlin stock heap pump hot water units.
Chauffe-eau thermodynamique SAUTER Takhini 200 l | Leroy Merlin
I thought of buying it there and bring it back but it looks suspiciously like a nuclear weapon.

Can anyone recommend a UK sourced heat pump hot water unit?
I know that machine from Leroy Merlin. It uses the typical indoor temperature of 20+ to heat the water to a higher temperature . . As you know SAUTER is a well established brand of quality . There is a systematic problem with French hot water boilers. .. the cylinder is made of mild steel, and enamelled. It needs to have a sacrificial anode to keep from corrosion.
I have seen other suppliers of hot water thermodynamic systems at Trade shows. There is a YouTube video about one in Dundee, which looks identical to what I saw.

Robbing Peter to pay Paul, reducing the indoor temperature to gain warmer water. Maybe acceptable in Summer but not in Winter in a colder region.

I am thinking of placing it outside the building, under a clear plastic roof.
Also we have a lot of roof, may fit solar panels. The quoted price for electricity is about 80p per kWH at the moment when our current fixed price contract runs out.

Why are they allowed to hammer businesses so much?
will be the final nail in the coffin for small company's and the self employed.

oligopoly, lack of competition.
government should let people make their own renewable electricity. Anything done to a commercial building generally needs planning consent.

You might think so.. but it does work out better, because the temperature lift per heat pump is smaller . Eg. If you had one trying to bring 3 Celsius to 45 Celsius, in a single step consumes more energy than going 3 to 20 and then 20 to 45 . The engineering of the refrigerant gases also means that optimum choices can be made. For example butane could be used between 20 and 45. , Whereas it could not be used at 3 .
But it works well because the quantity of heat in the tank at 45 degrees ,is much smaller than a whole house at 20. ..

Seriously ?. 80 pence?. I am thinking that our costs at 43 cents are high and 26 cents at night.
Solar panels ..are a no brainer any more.

All the quotes I got so far are 80p to 90p a kwh plus daily service charge.
they also receive government money. I am usually against windfall tax but this is profiteering.

A friend of mine was outraged when the Council wouldn't allow a windmill on his shop. I agree with the Council - it's in the middle of a High Street.

Less noise from ground loops.

that's how much it has generated from our 8 solar panels on the roof 8 i think but was installed buy the council but they have never been cleaned or had the inverter serviced since it was installed.
