Looks like I was too optimistic on Tuesday, with the Palace announcing concern for the Queen's health and her family members travelling to Balmoral to be with her.
.
Did they give her a dose of something to be able to cope with Johnson & Truss?

(Not meant to be amusing - whoever it had been the suggestion applies.)

Possibly, since apparently she was insistent that she wanted to do the PM handover ceremonies.

But of course it could have been just the extra stress those caused that tipped her state of health over the edge.

I looked into charging MG4 via Solar panels. Came to conclusion its not actually viable, unless you are only doing 40 miles a day or so, in which case why bother with 64kwh battery?
Best our house could give was 2368 kwh per year. Average just over 6kwh a day.. 10 days to charge car?? And that would require 7 or so kwh battery to make charging at night possible and nothing left for domestic use.
Decided even with now unknown price rises panels don't make economic sense. (£12k to save £329 a year doesn't sound good to me??)
Looking at heat pumps tho.
Zlatan.. you must have less roof area than me.. . My figure as of today is 3.2MWhr for a year... Moreover my 11 Panels of PV share space with about 7.5 msq of thermal solar .. which has been operating for 12 years.

Apparently uk get average 4 sun hours a day
.
Half of southern Italy I can see powering a long daily commute would be unfeasible, but as an occasional car in retirement doubling as a storage battery (following the 20 - 80 rule which makes the large capacity helpful) I'm hoping it might work

At this stage I have a full years data ,all stored on the cloud of the instantaneous and daily integrated power available in my neck of the woods ... Level of Blackpool. With a resolution of about 30 seconds ,for the entire year. Levels can vary between 20 KW.hrs to 4 KW.hrs on suceeding days!.
My view remains that at present buying battery backup is a poor use of capital ,and putting up more panels is the better play. Even if the export to the Grid is a poor return.

My maximum of 9 (240w) panels, 3 of which are not ideally aligned perhaps limits our "theoretical" figure of 2300 kwh per year.
But even if I could double that I still doubt it would feasible to run a 64 kwh battery vehicle. (both companies said forget charging car with solar panels???) Perhapd we should move to Canaries??
Trouble is on days when 20kwh are generated is car hooked up to accept, if not you then need at least a 20kwh battery to make use of that power. And not to mention the average usage by homes of around 8kwh daily ever before car is included. (our nearest charging station is 50kw???That's 120 or so 240w panels in direct brilliant sunlight??? (You, d probably need 130 taking into account efficiency and heat losses)
I, m completely forgetting charging car with panels. To my mind without 6hrs daily sunshine and 30 panels or so and a bloody great big battery, its creating more problems than solving.???

Exactly ...hence my argument that you export direct to the grid. ,And buy back at night rate electricity. .Since the majority of people use their cars during the day and have them at home at night, the battery capacity of the car is useless as an energy store. I am beyond the age where clambering around on roofs fills me with delight, so I had opted for a professional installation. ..but the piece parts are remarkably low cost. 360Watt panels are about 170 euro plus VAT, and a full inverter about 600 euro or 1200 for an off grid model.

The flower fly-tipping at the palace gates has already started. FFS, I despair.
Don't despair, we'll never see her like again, a bygone era finally ending.

This reduces the number of ruling queens in the world to 12, mostly much younger as you'll see on this link

That site not amended yet so Queen Elizabeth the second still included.

But viability of that is totally dependant on getting good variable rate deals. As yet none of companies I have contacted are taking new customers. (Over past month or so tried a few, specifically Octopus, to no avail. Octopus simply say when things change they will contact us.)
Proposed system utilised 9 panels and a 3.2kwh battery. Predicted savings with panels... (for year) £329...And for battery (utilising both panel and off peak charging, circa £300)
Since variable rate seems unavailable, the battery seems quite pointless, and £10k investment on panels for a £329 saving hardly seems worthwhile. (I, m getting 4.6% on investments anyhow???)
After October and likely rises the savings are better but still hardly earth shattering. (With Truss borrowing even more from our great great grand kids, might not be a rise this October)

You think that is bad.

The BBC have very foolishly done the same as it did with Diana's death:

They've scrapped the schedules and put a non stop News Special on the Queen on BBC 1 and BBC 2, plus their radio channels and shut down BBC 3 and BBC 4.

ITV, Channel 4 and 5 as well all evening, so no choice there. I thought I'd sample elsewhere so tried More 4, but that had a huge white banner over the lower part of th screen proclaiming "There has been an important news announcement, please turn to Channel 4".

The 39% of the public who would get rid of our Royalty will now be much less likely to argue against the government moves to shut down the BBC as it exists now. They'll be even more keen to get rid of the licence fee.

My calculations show there's room for a rise of 11% to achieve that hold to a cap of £2500. Not enough to make your new scheme worthwhile.

Did Truss give her covid? What's the penalty for regicide? Or was it regislaughter?

Trust Truss...

I saw Charles up close many years go by accident. He has a great sense of humour. I'm sure he'll be a somewhat more vocal monarch.

The new PM demonstrates how she's going to clean up in the traditional "Strong and stable" style

The word "stable" brings to mind Nadhim Zahawi and both his stables and the heating thereof.

I'm sure you're both right. But there may be a different way of looking at it (under admittedly different circumstances). By analogy, I have a small (inexpensive, salt not chlorine) swimming pool in a property in calabria that stays clean year round because it's dc pump (and uv)is powered by a few solar panels as and when the sun shines. I've no idea whether that's more or less profitable than using mains electricity. But it's completely autonomous and utterly stress free. It doesn't always have to be about chasing the margin. Equally if one lives in a place one isn't always dying to escape from, say on the coast in calabria, or the canaries (instead of the outskirts of london, where I find myself at present) an ev with a largish battery used for two or three journeys a week could with adequate solar panels be a standalone system (and replace the need to threaten legal action twice a year to avoid being scammed by successive "providers")

That would match nicely with my actual average electricity usage since smart meter installed (April, I think). Rarely more than a touch above 3kWh.

I suspect the fridge/freezer is my dominant usage. I get up and see about 35p used and other than computer-related things, there's pretty much nothing else on!

They have also shifted oodles of programs around on, for example, Radio 4 Extra so even when you a permitted to listen to something else, the choice is bizarre. A complete Agatha Christie repeated three times to fill the day. (A well-worn repeat at that.) And inconsistently so a program is shown as available but then won't be for a week because original broadcast date is now in the future.

One channel of radio, one of TV, would have been more than enough.
