I'm choosing to believe that you're being deliberately controversial, maintaining a creative discourse on the thread. Because the alternative - that you're an apologist for the abhorrent war crimes putin inflicted in and since the chechen war, Syria and now in Ukraine, that - unlike almost any historic tyrant - target the vulnerable in principle - is completely incomprehensible.
I am not and never have been an apologist for Putin or for the Russian actions under his rule. Indeed I am on record in this thread posting how much I dislike Putin and these actions. My giving reasons for these actions happening is not giving excuses, especially since there are no acceptable excuses.
But equally I am not and never will be an apologist for the US actions which are at the root of these problems. They have all been inexcusable.
So I am not being deliberately controversial, I'm just giving my balanced view of the whole picture, free from propaganda and bias.
I do this as an ex regular army soldier who at the time of leaving the army had become a confirmed pacifist and conscientious objector, to the point of leaving the army in dispute with it, prepared to suffer in consequence under the law if necessary.
