I don't believe any of us have actually advocated any governance system over an other. The simple fact is none are ideal, all far from perfect but some much further than others. I strongly believe ours benefits individuals and their freedoms much more than the ones you are extolling. Agreed, we don't really know what it's like yo live under Taliban, Chinise communism or Vietnamese democracy, but I, d hazard a guess we do enjoy freedoms way beyond any of those. That is fair comment , but then I have not advocated the Singapore method of governance, or the USAs or the UKs .. A colleague of mine, a once senior academic in EAST GERMANY when it was DDR, had scathing comments about the New Germany post reunification Now I do wonder how a brow beaten black woman in a getto in Washington , would respond to living in Beijing and sure of adaquate health care and full food and impartial policing.
The fact of the matter is that US involvement in Afghanistan and Iraq has fuelled poverty , corruption and was not popular. Had their actions been popular, Taliban would not have succeeded. Regime Change was either a con or a fantasy. The Chinese are not pretending they are doing anything other than trade.
Yep, our system stinks, and our particular version of it at moment stinks worse than normal but would I swap it for China?, No, I would not. Perhaps you would, unless of course your beliefs require some re-education. Are really pushing a system that openly states parts of its own culture require re-eduction, resettlement and cultural relignment? I suspect not.
