Much fuss is made over people in the EU being anti vaccination, but seriously the notion of wanting to vaccinate the whole of the Human race is foundering

Why home-produced Covid vaccine hasn't helped India, Russia and China rollouts Challenge of reaching vast, far-flung populations is combined with a lack of public interest Coronavirus – latest updates
Now China has said (or it is claimed they have said) that no visitors will be allowed who have not had the Sinopharm vaccine.

We have been using the AZ vaccine for nearly 3 months now but I think I am right in saying it has still not been approved for use in the USA. I do not know why this is the case, it might be the FDA dragging its feet or it might be AZ have been slow seeking approval, probably its a bit of both.

I do wonder though if AZ was a US company and the vaccine had been developed in a US university instead of in Oxford would its approval have been sorted out by now?

The Oxford AZ vaccine is an “at cost” product, no one profits to any great extent from its use.

The other vaccines make money. Every shot of Oxford vaccine delivered takes money away from the other vaccine producers in the form of a lost sale.

The Covid vaccine industry is going to be massive with colossal profits. Whoever gets the biggest initial foothold and the most of their product in the real world will dominate and harvest the money. The Oxford vaccine supplied at cost and with its easy storage capability is likely to become the dominant product and take away those profits.

Now work out why we have all the bad press and hair trigger eagerness to suspend use of the Oxford vaccine when the others have experienced similar low level / non existent problems.

Much has been made of the notion that the EU was too late ordering vaccine suppliers in fact they signed their contract one day before we did
The EU signed the contract on the 27th August 2020, and the UK did 28th August.

Really you should ask that question of the individual European Governments as it has nothing to do with the EU commission.
They must have a reason to refuse a product that is far less expensive than the profit making pfizer vaccine
Just a small point: No vaccine doses have been exported from the UK to the EU, whereas 9 million have come into this country from the EU, plus we are operating an Export embargo on 100 Covid related medicines.

For information this American study is interesting

Uk signed in May. Your source is boll ocks
Really?Tell politico that
are you sure yours isn't?
Try this or size, deliveries you said from the Indian Serum institute would save us. Oh Dear!

It’s hard to tell from some of the coverage but the Indian government appears to have done to vaccine exports exactly what von der Leyen suggested doing yesterday. Hard to imagine the policy being unpopular at home. It’s basically prioritising your own populations."
.......................................................................................

And meanwhile in Little England the natives are restless as desired by the Government

Let's analyse what's going on

Much angst is being aimed at the EU over suggesting it may cut exports to us to protect it's own supplies

We don't send them any , but have indeed banned sending them and others 100 Covid related drugs

While our usual people attack the EU for doing what we do anyway on the sly and are using this local dispute to distract the public from the debacle of Brexit

Our supplies are reduced because the Indian government has decided to protect it's own people first.

Strange that the press prefer to go for the EU and not India hmm?

It’s all very simple.

Because we ordered 3 months earlier, approved earlier, started vaccination earlier and haven’t listened to the likes of the snide oily pigmy.

Use it or lose it.

This chap has summed up the situation regarding relative risk of delaying/not delaying vaccine.
Screenshot_20210318_084258.jpg

Vaccinated you risk 5 people per million. (even if link proven)
Unvaccinated you risk 1000..(and that is in 40 olds)

Taking these figures into account why didn't they continue vaccinating and simultaneously look into situation.

I suspect JHC has answered that one.

Politico :D :D :D :D

With its links to Cambridge Analytica, anti-semitism, left leaning..........you can see where this is going.

The U.K. signed it’s vaccine contracts during May, I believe it was announced on the TV at the time.

Your Politico source is boll ocks.

It's nothing to do with finding it agreeable it's how it is.
Perhaps, having looked at figures mentioned and uncertainty about a link, and fact figures from USA say Pfizer have experienced same sort of thing perhaps you could explain why roll out has been stopped, but only in EU countries??
What is your explanation?
Come on OG, its very suspicious. Who, EMA, JVCI all giving advice to continue vaccine roll out but certain EU countries chose to ignore all that.??
Why do you think they have?

I think this is what it's about.

Those countries will have to buy alternatives after following lead of certain EU countries.???
Vaccines are the next industrial revolution. AZ had got a head start.

Can you remember when WHO were recommending test & trace at a time when the U.K. were not doing it? The level of condemnation towards the U.K. and the prestige awarded to the WHO’s advice was tangible in virtually every post on here.

Now that the WHO is recommending a course of action that EU nations are blatantly ignoring (continue to use the Oxford vaccine) not a word of condemnation. Support and defence of their actions is evident. Hypocrisy reigns.

The worst possible effect of a clot is one person dead.

The worst possible effect of not vaccinating is that person dying (as identified, at a greater rate than from clots - if the figures are accurate). And also those infected by that person. And on and on...

Ironically, clots can also be a result of Covid-19 itself. If the same people are susceptible both to dying from clots after vaccination and to dying from clots due to Covid-19, we'd have to check whether their chances of dying from a clot go up or down by being vaccinated.

you really exaggerated.
It's like someone stops taking aspirin and uses paracetamol instead.
None of the AZ vaccine has been wasted by this action.
some 11 countries suspend temporarily the AZ vaccine but still use other vaccines.
They should be understood, appreciated even for making an effort. What do we do in the mean time? Denying the possible link although the facts are there, the makers of the vaccines themselves specifically look for blood clots in their phase 3 trials. Now they can access a lot more clinical data to further their research. WHO and EMA have always made the case by setting the benefits versus costs which nobody denies.

That is complete crap. My relatives in Italy in their mid 60s have no vaccination date. Why is that? Italy has stocks of the Oxford vaccine, so it’s not shortages of vaccine supply. Same with my friend in France.

There is no blood clotting issue and you know it. You are starting to sound like that treacherous oily backstabbing dwarf who is running France. The instances of clotting in the vaccinated population is a tiny fraction of what would be expected to occur naturally. It is a complete lie and the EMA will say there is no evidence later on today.

37 very tenuous cases in 17 million. Are you stupid enough to believe that the risk outweighs the benefit of protecting 17 million people from coronavirus? Are you actually that daft?

why do you insist on calling people stupid?
Nobody here besides POLLY denies the benefits of the vaccines, even those that are not used here in the UK. Your insistence on not hearing serves no purpose other than antagonising.
We know nothing about why your friend and relatives in the EU waiting for their jabs. Presumably they want the vaccine. Did they ask for it yet or are they waiting to be notified? If they are waiting, then their situation is the same as most of Brits, no difference there. If they asked for it, what was the reply?
