The function of impeachment is to remove a public office holder whose actions damage in an obvious way the confidence of the office. Even had there not been weeks of speeches but he was sitting in the WH watching TV and seeing the Riots and did not act for many hours, that itself is a high crime and misdemeanor. Anyway the GoP has blown their credibility to shreds .
