Which is an interesting observation itself.

Suggests that just breathing does not emit sufficient viral particles to reach and remain in the nasal cavity. Maybe deep coughing does spread, whereas even sneezing doesn't?

Could mouth-breathing be a factor - whether it affects rate of transmission, rates of infection, how badly you suffer, or anything else!
I think the inference was the reverse . We assume that all cases are caused by particles lodging initially in the nose, whereas they suggest a direct to lung infection in 25% of cases.

I've added Israel to the the countries I look at regularly on the Covid stats. As I noted resterday, it is way ahead of any other country on cumulative number of vaccinations per person, but I now see it is also second only to Czechia on number of new cases per person (7 day average).

Does anyone know why this is? On the face of things it doesn't make vaccination look that effective. It may partly be down to more rigorous testing and thus actually finding and recording cases?

I think it's folk reacting to vaccine before they are immune/have protection. I looked last night on Worldometer for Israel and was surprised to see no improvement 3 weeks after vaccine started, but I suppose it takes longer to show... And I suspect number infected will always be high? Hospitalisations should come down but not necessarily infections..
I do still think our long delay for 2nd jab had something to do with keeping people following rules.???

I came across one of those odd medical you tube videos which in its own way might explain some of the anomalies. It was dated a number of months ago, when people were trying to get a grip. In full autopsies carried out on known fatal victims . All had heavy doses of CV19 in their lungs, but 1/4 had none in their nasal cavity . So when they were alive, they would have been false negatives.
That's deaths of course, of whIch there are far, far less than the infected. I think today's mass testing is what is throwing up huge numbers of false positives in the two ways I mentioned.

it's the ratio deaths per new cases that you want to watch.
At the moment, it's roughly 1 death/30-40 cases.
As the vaccine should stop 9/10 deaths, that ratio should drop dramatically. I expect to see 1 death per 300 new cases by June.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, JRM - disguised as a door - (should have) got his knob shot off. Instead of which he tediously...

Meanwhile in Little England ,a small offshore European Island, while these idiots jest
The speed of going from frictionless trade to tradeless friction has been truly remarkable.

Maroš should reply:

Dear Michael

You'll be delighted to learn that I have a solution which answers all of your concerns in full.
All that is necessary is for the UK to join the EU and the problems will automatically disappear.

Careful your paranoia is showing. AZ make a very useful vaccine. Other health authorities around the world are delighted to have it. However some are more Prudent than in the UK and are stricting its use to those groups where the evidence is strong that it is effective and ensuring that it is applied in the manner which has been evidenced as being effective.
You are behaving like a knob-head again. Stop.

It probably escaped notice across the water ,but the date indicated by Grove in his letter was not accidental. It is intended as a lifeline to the DUP ,which otherwise will be hammered in elections which take place in 2022. Moreover he basically admits he has not actually seen the offending regulation.(.nor have I or had anyone has published it ) . He accepts that the published one with the agreement of the EC is not offensive.
I understand that a response was sent by the EC today , which basically says ... NIX.

Around here, Glasgow and Dundee are the favoured places for their use.
Glasgow I can well believe, but Dundee I found somewhat genteel.

Perhaps the fact that at that time I was a guest of John Brown, the Queen's Right Honourable Lord Lieutenant of Dundee and his family influenced that impression !
