I was shocked to see that 1325 have died from Coronavirus over the last 24 hours.

I know we aren’t supposed to look at how other countries are doing (except for vaccinations and other things when we are temporarily doing better), but how are we comparing? What’s happening in France, Italy & Germany for example?

Can you remember those death comparison charts they used to proudly display at Downing Street briefings? They suddenly disappeared when we overtook every country in Europe and we were told not to look at the pile of dead bodies.
Numbers are truly frightening today. Does make you wonder where we are going to end up..? Is this Xmas mixing or is it going to carry on rising...
When will it peak?? Wish somebody knew...

Certainly very bad. I use the following for my daily pessimism update ...

Lots of options of what data you want, what countries to include, how smoothed, etc.

Daily casualties are certain to rise. We could exceed 2000 / day. Today’s 1325 deaths are as a result of an infection rate of around 40000 / day three weeks ago. The Christmas infections and today’s 62000 new infections are yet to feed into the death toll.

Just keep away from people. Get an XBox, bike turbo trainer, Netflix subscription, on-line course. Anything except going where other people are hanging around.

I, m not the one screaming for second vaccination. I, m patiently waiting and understand the dilemna faced.
Besides one or two is pretty irrelevant. Hancock says we need 6 a month.! (according to media)

Mind Germany got thir first. Gave many pensioners 5 at one go.
I should Google gas lighting OG. Its a stupid comment but normal for you.
And my views and comments have affected no one or anything. I wonder how many buy into your BS, walk out and think "feck the government, they are shambolic and ignore everything"
I think its such as your attitudes that have damaged every message government has given. From masks to isolating.
So you think I am "screaming for a second vaccination"
Not very bright to accept the Governments optimistic gamble against the explicit instructions of the maker, but does demonstrate your usual contempt for obvious facts, your the sort who end up testing if the paint is dry when the notice says wet paint.
Clearly you manage to read my comments and totally fail to understand their import to write this
"I think its such as your attitudes that have damaged every message government has given. From masks to isolating."

Come on look back and prove those ridiculous claims, you are as biased as the government for posting mis information

We have only got until next Wednesday if Trump doesn't decide Armageddon is preferable to being a loser.

Seriously worrying when the senior politicians are worried about the possibility. Mind, we might be a touch safer than Teheran.
I wouldn't bet on that there was an old saying

When the Germans Bomb the English duck
When the English bomb the Germans duck
When the Americans bomb everybody ducks!

Since it's Trump we are talking about Moscow would be better bet

probably next Wednesday, 1,600 maybe.
The national peak number doesn't really matter, it's travelling across the country within different areas at different rates, so your local peak could have very different timing, even by weeks rather than days, and very different penetrations.

The pockets of very low incidence within heavily infected areas illustrate this well, mine being a good example,

I do have a cold with a very runny nose though, a repeat of the one I had in the Spring.

Agreed, locally at moment we aren't as bad as many other areas but like you say situation can and no doubt will change Let's hope the vaccine can start affect numbers ASAP.
We do need to know exactly why UK has done so badly because without doubt this will happen again. Blaming one thing or another could hide some crucial matter we need to change... Putting it at Boris' feet might be just but it might not.
We must keep an open mind and examine in future exactly what has gone wrong on so many levels.

This county has taken a turn for the worse - 84 reported in today's figures (obviously applying to yesterday). A number which would have been quite bad as a weekly total through much of the pandemic. Though has been quite bad recently.

Which information????
You are imagining things again.
Your narrative throughout has devalued government messaging. I, ve been saying all along just follow rules, listen to briefings.
You, ve done nothing but decry the system.

I don’t think the review and day of reckoning will ever happen.

I put this catastrophe down to plain old incompetence. This government is full of people who have had a first class education and they mistakenly believe that makes them intelligent and competent. It doesn’t, they are just well educated incompetents. It’s as simple as that.
