Johnson just mentioned a national Covid vaccine booking service. I just wanted to find out more - specifically whether "national" means UK, GB, England or some other definition.

Found it. Then got told they don't support Internet Explorer. Which is not at all interesting for someone who uses Firefox - as you can see!

Am perplexed why it would be mentioned if it doesn't work at all. Or at least a "Still developing" message. Obviously like most of the rest...

Is that a very old version of Firefox? Looks quite different from my Firefox (which does work on that url)

Presumably the issue is that is doesn't work on some older versions of Firefox either; still the error message could be more correct.

Bang up to date! 84.0.1 - ah, almost. Needs a restart to apply very latest update.
I cut off the top tab bar.

Odd. I was on that and it worked, then updated to 84.0.2 and worked too.

The reason I thought your screenshot looked different was that I hadn't noticed that you hadn't just opened the top right menu but gone on to the Help menu page as well. Maybe they had a bug on the site and fixed it; might be worth trying again with cleared cache? Or have you got some odd extension?

edit: messages crossed, glad to see it's resolved.

Ah - yes. Did that to show beyond all doubt it really was Firefox.

Vaccination race starts in Europe.
Screenshot_20210107_180827_com.android.chrome.jpg

Notice EU combined has managed fewer vaccinations than UK.
France has managed 500.
The UK figure is now 1.5 million, figures for UK were from 27th Dec. (Israel 5th January)
Germany actually managed to give 5 doses (yes 5 doses) to each member of a care home.
I suppose I, ll be labelled jingoistic again for pointing out our Governments /NHS/PHE/MHRA success.
Possibly 13 million vaccinations by mid Feb.
Credit where credit due, but that along with any optimism or positivity is frowned on in here.

So pleased to date UK's data is the most out of date (out of those which are dated).

Seems to be around 66% of actual current total as claimed today.
As I said link data was for 27th Dec for UK. According to BBC we had 1.39 million upto yesterday. With around 100k today. BBC reckoned 1.5 million.

So, is there anything we can do to help rest-of-world - obviously without too much cost and not impacting too much on what we are doing?

Planning documents and software?

Medical tips?

I suspect almost any help we can provide will help both the recipients and us.

Not sure but I believe Oxford A/Z have promised vaccine at zero profit to all developing countries and with its easier handling its expected to be the prime contributor for getting world out of lockdown. There does seem to be a new narrative coming from media. Preston, who I, ve criticised in past, actually pulled up newsreader when they questioned Boris's handling.. He actually said, and without pause, "hang on a minute, yes our government, like all governments, have made mistakes, but in some respects they are leading the way, well attempting to do so,and do deserve credit in this area". Well said Robert.

We must hope that they get this right. They have ****** everything up so far, but they are too stupid to realise how badly they have performed.

However, just because they have ****** up royally so far, does not mean they will continue to do so. Maybe putting proper people in charge (The Army) to look after and supervise them is one of their better decisions and they’ll do better this time.

IMHO one of reasons, amongst many others, that they have messed up is the constant message from media, social and mass, that they are incompetent giving all and sundry perfect reason to totally ignore everything they say and in bargain claim to not understand their confused messages.
You know, like footballers need telling not to have parties, Jeremy Clarkson needs telling not to see his family whilst suffering covid (3 days after a positive test),parents need telling not to go into school with kids after positive tests, folk need telling not to burn 5g masts down, folk need telling ignore the BS anti vaxers and covid deniers and reminded not to go in hospitals taking pictures of empty corridors, I could go on and on.
Its not the government it's our society and social media such as this has helped make it worse.
Giving folk reason to question government at times like this is wrong. Telling them to ignore the government is appalling.
So, yes Government has made mistakes but so far we, ve kept infection to under 3% of population. Imagine how we, d be had it got to 10...???
I wonder how many lives under mining Government message has cost? And then when more lives are lost... We blame Boris.

blaming BJ is right.
He is a buffoon, Mr good news when the country faces an incredible crisis.
He constantly delays the inevitable, pretending to follow the science while looking for some scientists to back him on his stupid attempts to prolong libertarian society in time of crisis: no airport checks on Covid, eat out to help out, the stupid tier system where the numbers clearly show that R is greater than 1.
BJ only does the minimum whenever quick action is essential to limit the damage. Think how much we would have saved on borrowng leave alone the number of casualties if BJ had locked down a month earlier, in March and in October. Starmer would have been a better PM.

Actually what is frowned at is people who defend the indefensible
I had the first jab yesterday which means not only that the job is only half done, but the government you are a fan of intends to ignore the instructions of the manufacturers and wait 12 weeks instead of the 21 days stipulated by them, on the basis of people like you will applaud their gamble with lives

I was expecting a Parachute, only to open it and find it was an umbrella
The maker's information also said you can still catch Covid until 7 days after the second dose. So not very good at stopping the spread is it.
Congratulations are conditional
They did half the job gambling that the delay to complete it wont cause people to be infected and die on the basis of ignoring explicit information from a company they have insulated against any liability , and gambling with other people's lives against a rising tide of scientific opinion this is an unwise decision.

But as you have proved, they can always find someone to approve their efforts no matter how shoddy they are.

And by the way we have left the EU and it is too important to be regarded as some competition where we score or lose Brownie points.

Joe Biden described the difference between the USA and UK last night "No kings, no Queens, no unelected house of Lords put there as a bribe"
The special relationship is going to need Boris to eat a lot of humble pie!

I’m sorry Zlatan but they have made the mother of all **** ups out of this pandemic.

They had all the warnings they needed back in February and March. They watched from this island as the disaster unfolded in Italy, but did nothing other than pursue a fatally flawed herd immunity strategy which let the virus in and get a strong foothold.

They failed to protect the most vulnerable in care homes. Even I saw that coming and commented that it would rip through those places like a bush fire. The government policy was to send untested and in some cases, known infected people into care homes without telling the staff.

The government ran down stocks of PPE to dangerous levels and ignored countless warnings from inspectors that they had insufficient to deal with a pandemic. We know what happened next, The Health Minister’s pub landlord mate, a jeweller and an accountancy firm made fabulous profits trying to scratch together basic PPE supplies.

They failed completely with test & trace. The App - useless. The jockey - useless. Manual contact tracing system - useless. World beating system by June 2020 - useless, not happened. Operation “Moon Shot” - useless, not happened. Kate “Bingo” Bingham- useless, upon appointment immediately sold commercially sensitive vaccine procurement information for personal gain.

Masks. Don’t wear a mask, wear a mask if you want to, you must wear a mask unless you don’t want to. FFS, get a grip.

The stay at home message- useless. They gave Dominic Cummings privileged access to No 10 Rose Garden so that he could look the nation in the eye and tell them a pack of lies. The eyesight test fiasco is what I refer to. The government then backed that up by saying to the nation, shut up little people, doff your caps and believe your masters. We want to hear no more of it. That was a catastrophic move and I think it is still influential in people not following lockdown rules.

Late with the November lockdown- useless caused more damage than necessary to both the economy and public health.

Boris’s five day Christmas spread-fest was still on just 4 weeks ago. He was again too late cancelling that. Plans were made, food had been purchased, many went ahead because of indecisive, unclear messaging.

Even this week on Monday morning the government were saying schools will stay open because they are safe. By 4:00 pm the same day they were saying, schools are unsafe they must close. WTF!!!

Boris Johnson is allergic to tough decisions. He wants to throw a celebration party to mark a fictitious victory all the time. He just wants to be Good News Guy. He waits until all his options have disappeared and he is left with only one choice. He has personally killed tens of thousands of people due to that strategy and character trait.

Michael Hesseltine summed him up perfectly when he said, Boris Johnson waits to see which way the mob is running, he then sprints to the front shouting, follow me.

This government has tried to balance health against economic wealth and has screwed up both. We are perhaps the second or third worst performing country in the world on both counts.

All we can do is hope they make a better job of the vaccine. It will be difficult for them to make a bigger **** up, but they are full of surprises.

On vaccines, Mr Hancock said: “I anticipate we will probably need to revaccinate because we don’t know the longevity of the protection from these vaccines.

And what happens if it is less than 12 weeks? o_O
