What has happened is that the 27 embassies of the EU countries have signed off pro tem , and their word is good until either , their national governments votes no ..in the qualified majority calculation, or the EU parliament votes no .. Neither of which is anyway probable. Than from your side the UK Parliament will vote yes.
So the FTA slim deal starts running from Friday.
Eventually.. sooner rather than later ,the cracks will show, and the Remainders and hardliners in the UK will continue to day ,I told you so. But the EU will sail on regardless
then the EU will delay the final approval until they get the deal agreed by all 27.
There is no reason why any country will object, the bar is already pretty low.

This business has taken the Government advice to prepare for Brexit

MacDonalds in Penge

I can hear the words of the old song in the distance
"Yes! we have no bananas,
we have no bananas today..........."
Do you think a 1940's ration book is still valid?

Just kidding, surely this is scaremongering???

Inevitably this

Think we should be applauding PHE, Mhra, Asta Zenaca, Oxford etc for us being first country in world to get off mark with vaccine. USA won't be getting going til April... We should be starting ours next week. Well done... Some good news. We can see the harbour but we are still out at sea in a storm...
Just hope folk are sensible..

Less of the jingoism . The Russians and Chinese are both there before the UK , and with 981 deaths today in the UK , not a moment too soon

Only first with the government propaganda, I want to see proper evidence like my punctured arm, not TV features.

It was their TV feature that boasted my health trust was the first in th UK to get the vaccine and that all our trusts essential NHS staff and borough's care homes and all over 80s would be vaccinated before Christmas since they had enough vaccine.

At 84 I still haven't heard, despite them saying almost a month ago the doctors were already setting up for it and we'd be contacted within days. So all bo!!ocks once again and will probably be again with the Oxford one. Ever since March every one of their Covid boasts has been false and every promise not kept to, total failure every step of the way.

Just the same old incompetent UK government and why Brexit is doomed to failure and always has been.

Its not jingoism.. Its celebrating good news and a great achievement. Those involved deserve praise and our thanks. Yes, the deaths are terrible which only makes today's news more celebratory.
Imagine where we would be if AZ/Oxford vaccine had failed Mhra scrutiny or had not provided immunity. Yep, early days but anything giving us something to counter what has probably been the world's hardest test must be applauded.
Will be interesting to see which vaccine is rolled out in global fight... From what I, ve read its the AZ one leading the way.
Don't be a pain Danidl.

Perhaps we should wait until there are 7.5 billion of them so we can each have a personal tailored one. :)
.
Nope, I want one ASAP...
We had new grandson 6 weeks ago. Seen him twice through front window... At rate things were going I was thinking I, d meet him on his 21st...There does seem a little more optimism. JVT was happiest he, s been for months. I, d guess I, m about 28 millionth in queu... But it just seems to have become a finite wait now. Nothing to worry about, our futures are in Matt Hancock's hands now... He might be in tears again soon...

They've had my Pfizer vaccine in their new German deep freezers of my hospital for almost a month now as I'm a priority case, but when if ever I receive it seems vague.

See my earlier reply
.
Phone them flecc. Daughter and her husband were called at work (both in fire service) to have vaccine, nearby hospital had spare owing to quite a few not turning up... They didn't want to waste vials so were offering shots to Emergency Service personnel. They get their second on 5th Jan...
All folk in care home I know have had their first.. Not fair that some aren't getting protected that should...
I, d already read your earlier post.
I do share your cynicism of our government but have great respect for NHS. We have 2 family members who certainly wouldn't be here without action above and beyond at Rotherham hospital. Nothing but praise and thanks for all folk at our Hospital. All fantastic..but agreed Matt Hancock does not inspire confidence.. But to be fair he is doing a thankless task.. I wouldn't want to be in government at moment.

Phone them flecc.
We've been told not to, since they are overloaded already. In the end I may have to though.

Agreed, indeed at any time government of any country is an impossible task. That's why those in government are so incompetent and potentially dangerous, only the mentally ill or incurably megalomanic would knowingly volunteer to do it.

Definitive proof of Cognitive Dissonance

"Gove just accused the SNP of being "prisoners of a separatist ideology which puts their narrow nationalism above our national interest".
AKA as "Normally I can't stand hypocrisy, but I'm prepared to make and exception in my own case"

Hancock would if he could. He's so typical of the squirts we saw strutting around in jackboots and high topped peaked caps durimg WW2, evidenced by the obvious pleasure he had in spelling out restrictions and hefty fines for non compliance with covid rules. He was in his element then.
