How could there be any doubt about liability for council tax?

Dominic Cummings allowed to avoid backdated council tax on second home
Government agency rules adviser must now pay tax on Durham property built without permission in 2002
Council tax must be paid on the second home in Durham in which Dominic Cummings and his family stayed during the lockdown, a government agency has ruled.

But the Valuation Agency Office (VAO) decided not to backdate thousands of pounds in unpaid council taxes on the property since it was built on his parents North Lodge estate in 2002 without permission.

The issue was referred to the VAO in June after Durham county council found there had been historic breaches of planning building control regulation during the construction of the property and the conversion of another into two homes. At the time the council said it could not take enforcement action against the family because of a time limit on such measures.

The council has now confirmed that after the VAO’s ruling, the Cummings family will, from this month, have to pay three separate council tax bills for the homes at North Lodge, instead of the one bill the family has been paying until now.

Why not backdated? AND fined for failing to pay?

I think NI have made a wise decision to combat COVID. I think now that Starma has nailed his colours to the lockdown mast, it’s even less likely that the cowardly yellow streak of **** will do what’s needed.
another u turn will be more embarrassing re starmer. but boris will have left too little too late as in march anyway. And tory backbenchers want less not more lockdown. This was predestined to become a catastrophic national urinating on the plugs again and again.

You're still panicking about nothing on the basis of deliberately skewed map data, just over 45 in 100,000 in our affected areas down here.
Are you still sticking to the claim that this is nothing?

We are heading towards daily death rates comparable, or worse, than in April when it was over 1000 people per day losing their lives to Coronavirus. Yet we are doing less than we were in April, so that can only mean death rates will exceed the April figures unless we do more to combat this “nothing” threat.

What would be your threshold for taking action? 2000 / day? 3000 / day? More?

the upper limit of NHS's capacity is about 15,000 beds for Covid for 12 days rotation, 1,200 new patients a day, about 10,000-13,000 new cases a day.
If the virus turns nasty in its mutations then far less.

Of course I'm sticking to it.

I don't buy newspapers, I nod off to sleep during the news and I don't have a smartphone so no App either.

So in Jim Callaghan's immortal words:

"Crisis? What crisis?"

Yes, that I gather from wikipedia was what he allegedly said after returning to a stormy striking uk from the tropics. Shortly before the no confidence vote that saw him replaced with Thatcher. In other words, right up there with Marie Antoinette's pardon me sir in the famous last words stakes

Offa's Dyke to be brought out of the cupboard and spruced up.

Wales to ban visitors from Covid hotspots elsewhere in UK
First minister says he will act this week if UK government still refuses to stop people travelling

There is genuine concern in this area that people will come from high infection areas and spread Covid-19 around places like (parts of) Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion, the rest of Gwynedd, etc. Especially as we approach Christmas and which will likely include considerable swilling.

Pigs in blankets?

Swilling of beer, wine and anything else that claims to contain alcohol. (Probably be the first Christmas where hand sanitiser has better sales than whisky by ethanol volume.)
You can't get any for love or money in Hull, when the "Metho's" heard they contain alcohol they stole the lot and drank it

When hauled in for questioning one worthy was heard to declaim

"I drink it because I prefer the flavour and bouquet.
Tastes better than anything Tim Martin sells anyroad"
