This is the list letter , I keep wanting to call it "Shieldlers List"It was confusing process - I didn't get an initial letter, though saw something on gov website to self-register
https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus-extremely-vulnerable
but wasn't sure how I was going to pay for supplies - not wanting to put friends and family (Sis lives 40 miles away) out (busy with their kids, jobs and elderly relatives) so continued popping into town to Sainsbury & CO-OP to get my fave yellow sticker bargains and occaisonal bottle of rose / Shiraz.
Though did get a vague general text a few weeks later (April 15) from docs surgery to " Ask family, friends or local community groups to deliver the food and support you need." - nothing about shielding
I wanted to point out in my post how the Government's interfering albeit maybe for the best of reasons, was in fact slowing the whole food delivery system down, Supermarkets had it sorted. Tesco's during mid crisis were creating 2 million delivery slots a week, pity they couldn't have done the covid tests.
My local giant superstore even had an emergency system in place they were able to launch to make sure the public were supplied with food. A few years back the water pumps in the apartments where I live failed, no one could offer any immediate help not the management nobody. How do you get by with no water ? Again Supermarkets to the rescue, they were able to supply us with thousands of Ltrs of bottled water when nobody else could. Very powerful organisations Supermarkets.
