What's the first thing you would do if you were PM flecc ?
On the subject of what would you do if you were PM....

Reading that brought back to mind the spoof video after Boris lied to the Queen about proroguing parliament

"He lied to me!... TO ME! ...Make it look like an accident OO7"

Mysteriously that video clip appears to have vanished
Can't help wondering why?

Such a shame, and I'm not talking about the video

I don't remember Corbyn ever being any good at PMs questions. .
I disagree. Corbyn did often make very good points but he was being judged by everyone against the background of years of relentless false attacks by the media. Everyone, including members in here, were prejudging and making up their minds before he even spoke. Judge Starmer after the Tories and the right wing media machine have laid into him before the next GE.

Corbyn let Johnson get away with bluster.
Starmer asks precise questions then uses twitter later to point out the lies.
Sooner or later, even lifelong tory voters may come to accept the accumulation of written evidence.
Corbyn inherited a good hand from Miliband and left Starmer with a moutain to climb.

I agree, starmer is not allowing boris to dictate the (populist) rules of engagement the way Corbyn did - for a, frankly, thick populist electorate (as boris's spin doctors knew only to well). But I have enormous sympathy for Corbyn. He offered the electorate something better than they deserve (or have the capacity to appreciate)

Corbyn wasn't the only one who offered a better alternative.
Besides, Labour would have done so much better electorally with any pink tory.

Yes, but to be a bit moralistic, lifes not only about expedience, outcomes; it's also about integrity, offering fukwits something better than they deserve so that they can reject it in favour for boris style populist bs and fuk themselves and hopefully learn something about their own lack of principle (and mentos compus) in the process.

let face facts: the UK is full of small time capitalists like myself - may be because of inadequacies in pension or healthcare or general low productivity of our economy. Whatever the reason, it is not ready to adopt hard left socialism.
If Labour's leaders insist on socialism at any cost, then Labour won't get very far for the foreseeable future.

There is a difference between a lifestyle and a mindset. I'm a self employed professional, also a small time capitalist. But I don't mind paying more tax and living in a society that outlaws tax havens and financial "services" (as a cornerstone of a "service" economy)and mp gobs on oligarg sticks in favour for a more healthy economic model (which is in essence what corbyn offered)

Corbyn's intention is to go as far to the left as he can.
That's just not acceptable for the majority of taxpayers.
That's true. They prefer boris' offer of more of the same corruption, hypocrisy. And, as trial runs for Brexit and the future go, see what a lovely covid 19 experience it is offering up. Give me higher taxes and corbyn style socialism any day. But I suspect you're right, they will shrug off the increased deaths and whatever other misfortune the Tories send their way for the sake of short term self interest and tax cuts

of course some will vote for promises of tax cuts but I guess that the majority wouldn't want any extreme government.
Corbyn represents the hard left, whether is believes in it or not.

James O'Brien labelled Boris Johnson's performance at Prime Minister's Questions "a humiliation". @mrjamesob| #PMQs

Boris reminded me of the scene from one of the old "road to" movies when Bing Crosby said to Bob Hope "When are you going to quit as a comedian" Hope replied "When I stop getting the laughs" Bing responded "Well it never stopped you before."

Sorry woosh in simple numerical terms laudible though being small time capitalist is, their numbers compared to the greater mass of the population are not sufficient to explain the popularity of Conservatism.

The true explanation is that there are a vast number who look at their possessions and utterly disregarding that they are up to their eyes in debt imagine themselves elevated into the ranks of small time capitalists, where they do not belong, understand what that means or what responsibility to society comes with it.

Contrary to the impression I often give, I am not an enemy of the principle of capitalism itself, it is a good servant but a bad master, paticularly so when it is used as a weapon of control, by persuading those in debt that they are not simply under the control of real capitalists, but imagine themselves members of that successful level of society.

This mass group are the ones who's vote is the Tory's main weapon
And they are the mountain that can't be climbed with socialist policies

Further information on the apparently covid-19 related disease in children. Firstly, how awful for the affected familes. Secondly, this might have a profound impact on willingness of parents to send children to schools.

Italian doctors find link between Covid-19 and inflammatory disorder

The disorder has required some children to undergo life-saving treatment in intensive care units
Doctors in Italy have reported the first clear evidence of a link between Covid-19 and a rare but serious inflammatory disorder that has required some children to undergo life-saving treatment in intensive care units.

The mysterious condition emerged last month when NHS bosses issued an alert to doctors after hospitals admitted a number of children with a mix of toxic shock and symptoms seen in an inflammatory disorder known as Kawasaki disease.

On Tuesday, medics at the Evelina London Children’s Hospital announced the death of a 14-year-old boy, the first known fatality from the condition in Britain. Between 75 and 100 children are now receiving treatment across the country. Typical symptoms include a fever, skin rashes, red eyes, cracked lips and abdominal pain.

Just how many lies can one person

Johnson's pants are on fire.

UK government will operate checks on goods going from Britain to Northern Ireland, Stormont told

Lisa O'Carroll'Carroll

Lisa O'Carroll

The government has privately conceded there will be checks on goods crossing the Irish sea post Brexit, months after Boris Johnson insisted there would be no such trade barriers.
Slightly more:

Brexit means Irish Sea checks – The government has privately conceded there will be post-Brexit checks on goods crossing the Irish Sea, months after Boris Johnson ruled it out. A letter to the executive office in Stormont confirmed there would be border control posts in three ports: Belfast, Warrenpoint and Larne. A Northern Ireland minister confirmed the news to members of the Stormont assembly on Tuesday. The prime minister agreed checks on goods entering Northern Ireland from Great Britain in a breakthrough meeting in Wirral with his Irish counterpart, Leo Varadkar, in October 2019 but was accused of misleading the public after he was recorded telling local businesses afterwards that there would be no checks.

Time for a revival? A song de nos jours.

Now all of you tradesmen who travel alone
I'm asking you now where the work has all gone
Long time I've been travelling and I cannot find none
Sing, Oh the hard times of old England
In old England very hard times
