I do think though we have to be careful to not to get too influenced by some of the stories we see on the TV or other media. When a child dies of Covid it is all over all the media because that industry knows it will create a lot of interest but I bet if you asked a typical family how many children under 15 had died of Covid in England and Wales they would guess at a number far higher than the actual real number of just 2.
I think the number is higher than 2 now. Wasn't that from 9th April or thereabouts?

BTW I hope I am not giving the impression that I consider the virus is nothing to worry about. I certainly don't want to catch it and I take all sensible precautions to try and not get it, but I do think that its very easy to over estimate the risk of dying from it than is actually the case.

Take children for example, the chance of a kid dying from it are so small its almost not possible to measure it. The danger of schools starting again is not to the children but to the teachers, parents and grand parents catching it from the children.

I think he said his stats were up to and including the 24th of April but I could be wrong about that date I would have to watch it once again to ensure I have got that right and I have deleted it now.

Classic Distraction , ignore the million infected ,and 80K dead, instead tell a new set of lies.. In the event of a Democratic candidate winning in November, I can see Barr behind bars. .
In case you don't know, this investigation has been going on for years - long before the Covid-19 had been made.

A new story is going to unravel over the next few weeks that is said to have been uncovered by the John Durham investigation. The people named are Hillary Clinton, Faucci, Dr Birx, and Robert Redfield. It involves vaccines and possibly eugenics. The guy leaking the story has been 100% right on all the previous stories he's brought to light.

In convenient tweet from Boris's point of view"Graham Hughes

Graham Hughes@everycountry

I'm well aware that it's not a fair comparison* but... #Covid19 Death Toll UK: 31,855 Japan: 607 #BorisHasFailed
*Unfair as Japan has TWICE the population of the UK, and a much higher population density.

Following a heart felt appeal from Barry Shittpeas due to his life long love of the French , the Prime Minister has decided to exempt them from UK quarantine plans. Details on the BBC News web site or available directly from Barry.

Bo Jo has many in his cabinet who want to model the UK on the good old USA. I know the following information on the link below won't change their minds, but it's scary what may be the future for us if they succeed in getting their way.

The supreme irony is that the American people believe in the principle that the right to bear arms protects them from oppressive governments, and instead, they habitually turn them on each other

your chart is of last year, before that virus struck. We have now 2400 dying every day instead of 1400.
Even the DWP wouldn't kill as many as 1000 UC claimants a day.

Hush now! if Trump gets wind of that idea he will recommend his supporters buy Flame throwers
Effective, but in the hands of the American public?
CoV-SARS-2 is known to be heat sensitive.

If IV bleach and UV per rectum don't kill it, try napalm.

I think Boris Johnson’s speech last night was chaotic, confusing, lacking in direction and full of opportunities for him to escape responsibility. There was far to much, “I’ll leave it with you” content, particularly with regards to returning to work. No leadership whatsoever.

What if the virus infection rate starts to spike again? How is it possible to isolate which easements have caused the spike if everyone is doing their own thing? The easements need to be clear and prescribed with carefully selected groups within the workforce instructed exactly what to do. This is essential if you are going to measure the affect of any changes.

If things go badly in the next few weeks, how is the government going to know what’s causing it? Is it people travelling for leisure, shopping more, those who have interpreted the vague permission to return to work, retuning to work or is it transport etc. It’s an incoherent chaotic mess engineered for a single purpose, to get Boris Johnson off the hook if it goes badly.

The idiot still looks two steps away from death.

Yes, I watched him this morning and at first I was quite concerned about this statement but on thinking about it a bit more its not as frightening as it first sounds. The reason is although the risk is doubling with every seven years of age it starts off from a very small number (very close to but not quite zero) so even when it doubles the risk is still extremely small.

Here are the stats he provided in the interview they are for England and Wales only, he did not provide any numbers for Scotland and N.I. They show clearly what I mean about this doubling statement not being as frightening as it would first appear.

There are 10 million under 15s in England and Wales, the total number of deaths from Covid in this category is just 2. So the risk of dying from the virus for the under 15s is virtually zero (1 in 5 million).

He went on to say there are 17 million under 25s, and the total number of Covid deaths for this age group in just 26. So once again this results in a very small risk somewhere between 1 and 2 in a million. He also said that it was extremely likely that several of these deaths would be in people with some kind of serious health condition already before catching Covid.

Finally he said for the over 90s just over 1% had already died from the virus. I would imagine though that for the over 90s many, perhaps even most would already have serious health conditions.
I think there's huge amount of exaggeration about every aspect of Covid-19, both the likelyhood of catching it, the effects and the after effects.

I'm equally sure that social distancing has very little efficacy for strangers among the general public in day to day activities like walking and shopping. As Danidl has observed, the exposure times then are usually very short. I believe any reductions in infections from the lockdown are almost entirely due to the large numbers working from home or off work at home so not being close together at work or on public transport.

And I'm certain the rise in the infection rate, then the plateau and finally the falling away are entirely due to vulnerability. The virus takes hold and rapidly infects the most susceptible. Then the most vulnerable among them become very ill and the weakest die. Then as the numbers of susceptible and vulnerable reduce the infection and death rates fall away naturally.

I doubt we'd have had any worse figures if we'd never had any outdoor social isolation rules or inter household isolations. The latter have so many complex somewhat hidden interactions that cross infection paths always exist anyway.

My goodness who would have thought that this Government would find an even easier cash cow than motorists? All the copper has to do is give an opinion on a rumour of a theoretical crime and you're guilty as charged, that will be £100, (And yes Sir we do have a card machine)
