Why do I have such appalling anticipation of something awful?

VE Day: RAF jets to roar over UK to mark 75th anniversary
Boris Johnson urges nation to unite in tribute as celebrations are adapted owing to Covid-19

I can't help imagining one (or more) of the aircraft crashing during the flypast. If the government are organising it (even at arm's length through the RAF), I expect it to go wrong.
‘It’s intended to stop you looking in the direction of the pile of 50000 dead bodies they’ve created. A crash would be good news, it would stop you looking for longer. Look at the jets, not the bodies!

What is actually wrong with them?

That seems to be an important factor. Are we, possibly, applying standards unbendingly where they are "different" in some minor way rather than "bad"?

Just read further:

A government spokesman said: “While a small number of these gowns have failed tests in the UK, more have passed tests making them suitable for use in the NHS. The majority of items ordered from the private supplier are awaiting testing in the UK and Turkish warehouses.”
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/may/07/no-complaint-or-refund-demand-over-400000-unusable-nhs-gowns

So at least some of them haven't even arrived!
‘The whole PPE situation is no better than it was weeks ago. My niece was telling me that two of her colleague, are now on ventilators, both doctors from the Philippians. The only thing that has changed is that journalists aren’t asking about it anymore. They’ve probably been threatened with no access to Downing Street if they mention PPE.

If this government is organising it we can expect a flight of Sopwith Camels

It would have been cheaper to play a recording of Big Ben going "Bong!"

Here are your VE Day stats:

So far, Boris Johnson has created a pile of bodies big enough to fill 12.4 Olympic Sized swimming pools (assuming the average person has a volume of 62Kg. Swimming
Pool 50 x 25 x 2 metres). Or big enough to fill 694 London double decker busses (Routemaster all seated, no standing). And still they cheer for him.

Happy VE Day. Let’s celebrate and look in the opposite direction.
I wonder what any surviving luftwaffe veterans make of our self induced losses after the hammering we gave them to get their score?
They must think we have turned Japanese and be shouting Banzai!

Can’t believe @Keir_Starmer just said to the camera man ‘did you get all you need?’ as caught on @SkyNews #ClapForOurCarers #NHSclap @DailyMailUK https://pic.twitter.com/Hr9YwszjdC

I’m that cameraman he was talking to - he asked me as a way to clear the path to bring his daughter over from across the road.

This clip was suitably edited to completely twist the events and as a follow up to the anti Corbyn poison campaign, it needs work! and Mr Hickman, you need a proper job mate, but who would trust you after doing that? only the Daily Mail of course.

Hmmm...look at test 3 from 27 April to yesterday...the rate of infection test has changed in a week from “decreased” to “is decreasing”
That’s a subtle but important move of the goalposts..

And test 5 now moves from not risking a second peak to not risking a second peak that overwhelms the NHS...meaning a second peak is now considered acceptable so long as we don’t run out of places to put the sick and dying...

Better get another Olympic sized swimming pool on standby.

That’s in one week....

Indeed, It will follow the usual pattern that you've seen previously with Jeremy Corbyn, John McDonnell and Ken Livingstone.

First the ground is prepared over time by a steady drip, drip, drip of faked examples of what nasty and incompetent persons they are. Then as we approach election time the accusations begin that they are Communists and Trotskyites (Starmer is a Socialist who supports many of Corbyn's policies).

Then it will be the coup de grace, the combined falsehoods that Starmer is an anti Semite not doing enough to expunge the rampant anti-semitism of the Labour party.

And enough of the population may then be stupid enough to believe it all and vote for the heroic Boris Johnson who the media will tell them saved us from the coronavirus.

Those he didn't "save" don't have a vote.

Perhaps we should allow people a final vote in their wills? (And the opportunity to write/speak/update wills while in ICU.)

Don't forget the almost-as-heroic role of Domini Craab.

Remember, no longer don't mention the war, in fact - mention it all the time. The slogan now is:
Don't Mention May Day!

I take it the lower list is the updated one?. If so the revisions are appropriate. The real kicker is not 5 but 3. Without sustained reliable testing of large populations, one cannot have reliable data. This is to be welcomed abd continued to be hammered home.

TBH, Labour can't win power unless it has support from Murdoch and the majority of the billionaires.
.
Unless.

The economic damage from the coronavirus protracting increases enough and is combined with Brexit failing. The huge downturn in living standards and scale of personal loss could then reverse the situation.

It happened once before when the estabishment took us into WW2 with the huge misery and loss that caused. With the war ended the public then turned on the estabishment with fury and voted in Clement Attlee's 1945 Labour government which created our modern welfare state.

It can happen again.
