I am sorry for your friend.
In still air, particulates will linger in the air for hours.
If he didn't wear a face mask, it is likely that he got infected in a room where people come and go even some time after the last visitor has left.
Our government tries to talk down the wisdom of wearing simple face masks like the orientals do for years and years.

My suspicion is that this virus can infect via the air exhaled by a carrier far more easily than we are being told.
I read something recently by (I think) an Italian researcher, his research (not yet peer reviewed) was showing strong evidence that the virus can become attached to very small particles of air pollution such as from car exhausts. If this happens then it can be transported much further than the 2 m gap distance.

This could be another reason why places such as London (with lots of air pollution from vehicles) seems to be doing worse than other parts of the country.

I’ve just been informed of the death of a person I knew very well and who lived in Germany. He died of Coronavirus. Last year, he had a double lung transplant and was doing very well. His wife is currently undergoing chemotherapy, so as you can imagine, he was very strict and meticulous about contact and hygiene.

As to how he contracted the virus, he wrote this a few days before he died.

It could have only come from one of two sources. Earlier in the month I had to provide biometric data at the immigration centre then a few days later I carried out a survey on behalf of a client who was considering purchasing an aircraft . I had checked beforehand that no-one showed any sign or symptoms or had been sick. 98% of the time we were outdoors and kept to a strict distancing policy. At all other times, we didn’t leave the house and were isolating.

Knowing this man and his meticulous working methods, I think he would have remembered someone coughing on him or sneezing nearby. Again, “the science” would have us believe this is the primary transmission method. I simply don’t believe it. My suspicion is that this virus can infect via the air exhaled by a carrier far more easily than we are being told.
Condolences on the loss of your friend, and of course to his family, and I agree with the points you made

possibly Good news?

"
Scientists in China who carried out the preliminary study said no serious adverse reactions were observed after plasma transfusions. Ten patients received a 200ml dose of plasma, and researchers said all clinical symptoms, which also included fever and cough, subsided within three days.

Could it be that we don't need a vaccine after all if we can trace people in time?

A particularly excruciating part of Boris's speech was this line "I refuse to throw away all the effort and sacrifice of the British People" He should have added including those thousands whose sacrifice I was responsible for.
as you posted before, people should really see the real Johnson in his speech last month before he got the virus. He saw 'opportunities' in not doing like the Chinese and Koreans did.
Result? we are approaching the highest death toll in Europe.
The Prof who is in charge of contact tracing app suggested between 2M and 6M of us are carrying the virus.

I agree, I think the infection risk inside a building like an office, shop, supermarket etc, is high. I further believe that the coughing and sneezing is more BS from the government, I think it takes far less than that to infect someone.

They won't. They'll once again fall for the "Churchilian" pompous, halting speech that he's just made, just as so many did with the silly ass Churchill himself.

Think of a number, then double or treble it! :D

I liken it to fine dust like flour. If you spoon Icing sugar into a mixing bowl then lick you lips you can detect sweetness, you can't see it floating around but it's there alright. Take a walk along a seaside beach on a windy day then taste the salt on your lips. Spray a Deodorant about and you can taste that too, there's all sorts drifting about.
Unfortunately for me it will be a long time before I go into a Supermarket again.

Primary does not mean exclusive. The point about this virus is that a person can be productive with viruses a few days before their temperature spikes ..if indeed it even spikes.

He’s an actor and he delivers his lines well. That’s all.
Actually his delivery is poor, jerky, disjointed ,clipped and punctuated with irritating and pointless hand gestures, like someone with a bad case of piles

Worst of all his facial movements are plain enough to read
The blighter always lies, and worse he doesn't believe what he's saying
either, and looks terrorised in case someone forensically attacks his argument, which then collapses into farce and bluster.

His success is not a tribute to his talent so much as the fact that the Tory voters would come second in an intellectual contest with an average Gnat.

Speaking of which:

UK coronavirus live news: Gove says crisis could focus minds and boost chances of UK-EU trade deal

You could concentrate Gove's mind a hundred-fold and still find the gnat coming out on top.

Which is why I use a stick deodorant.
Strangely enough all deodorants have started giving me a rash these days having used them for years. I even tried the expensive natural types but no luck. I suppose your skin changes as you get older, now I'll have to start using that wet stuff that comes out of taps....blast!
