Huge an immediate investment on Using drugs designed to combat the effects on the body, in addition to seeking a vaccine

YET
That’s easier said than done. It’s the long term affects on the body which takes the time to establish and can’t be shortcut.

Say we rush through a vaccine and then in 9 months time, babies start being born with gigantic bulbous foreheads and one eyeball?

It’s these checks which dictate the time frame.

Forget Covid-19, it's a lost cause.

When it's subsided, tell China that on any future pandemic we will impose a 1% duty for every one thousand deaths on everything they sell to us. And nothing received will be paid for until the duty is received in advance by the UK treasury.

And encourage all other governments to do the same. That should focus their minds wonderfully in cleaning things up.
.
And while you're at it tell the Americans not to put large sums into research carried out for them at that Wuhan Lab!

Recent studiesTrusted Source, however, show that flu vaccination reduces the risk of flu illness by between 40 percent and 60 percent among the overall population during seasons when most circulating flu viruses are well-matched to the flu vaccine.

Still hardly inspiring results!

From LBC
People dying with coronavirus in care homes will be able to have loved ones at their side, Health Secretary Matt Hancock has announced.

New government guidelines will ensure Covid-19 victims in care homes will be able to have family members by their side in their final moments "wherever possible."

Mr Hancock said the death of 13-year-old Ismail, who passed away without a loved one by his side, "made me weep" and so the families of victims will have the right to say goodbye.

"Wanting to be with someone you love at the end of their life is one of the deepest human instincts," the health and social care secretary said.

Maybe it would be simpler just to inject the family with the virus and be done with it!

What Brexit means in practice: we have to beg people to come here.

Romanian workers flown in to help British farmers as industry struggles to employ locals
Up to 180 Romanian workers are being urgently flown in as pickers to help farmers across Britain after it emerged that not enough Britons registered to work on farms.

The firm flying these workers in are fairly local to me .They have had great big ads asking for British workers in the free local papers for weeks They had over 5000 apply but only a small percentage opted to be interviewed for jobs when they got the details .

Today, I heard two aircraft. Not that surprising because much of the time we don't notice any aircraft at all - unless we actually think and listen out for them.

But one of them, which I didn't see but did hear, it now being said to be one of those huge C17s. Not exactly frequent round here.

Tory 'weasel words' at today's briefing, Hancock boasts of spare critical care capacity, a record 2,657 beds, but, given there's up to 4,000 unrecorded deaths outside hospitals and Cummings' callous 'pensioners can die' remark, he suddenly becomes very nervous when challenged... https://pic.twitter.com/DmgLg24ibi

And to put this into perspective, each day we face losses equivalent to two Jumbo jets well filled with passengers crashing head on into each other

WTF? Care workers are chronically short of PPE as 1000s of residents are dying of coronavirus & @MattHancock says he's giving them all a bloody BADGE? This is not the Thick Of It, Health Secretary, this is real life & death. Stop patronising these heroes & get them PPE.

Matt Hancock is giving care workers a badge, but due to supply problems they are to be be awarded posthumously

I watched today's briefing, I'd have got more information from the original Hancock's Half Hour.

What we need most of all is a vaccine that cures A.P.I.S Acquired Political Insanity Syndrome, as it doubles the death rate with Coronavirus
This was very unfair...I watched this interview, she laughed because she was asked to comment on a newspaper headline that she couldn't see. Any smile she did after that was because Piers Morgan wouldn't let her finish and it was a show of exasperation.... Their were hundreds of complaints to OFCOM....... She did come across as incompetent though.

It’s crazy and it needs stopping immediately. I posted about this yesterday.

There are plenty of able bodied people who are suitable to be put to work in this industry already resident in the U.K. I saw 12 of them drinking cheap lager on a local golf course yesterday evening at about 8:00 pm

I contacted the police to report the youths and Interestingly, the fuzz did turn up, but that’s where the good news ends. They questioned my friend and his wife who where nearby on their bikes regarding whether they were from the same household. They then departed leaving the youths on the golf course, in view, still drinking! Unbelievably. I only discovered this last bit by chance, having read it on Facebook.

What do you do with a large, half empty car park, two cars, some string and a skateborad?

Apparently, you play chess! In Tesco car park, the cars are parked facing each other but with a good gap. Chessboard set up on skateboard and string strung between cars and skateboard. One chap moves a piece, the other pulls string to get skateboard by their car, makes move, other chap pulls it back. :)

Given how easy it is to use many techniques such as email and online chess software, there is little or no excuse, but amusing observation.
