For what its worth on here and for you to completely ignore and probably answer something not said...
Socialism in our country is dead. Socialism is supposed to reflect views and beliefs of the society it represents. In the 1920s when socialism was in its infancy here, the bulk of society were oppressed workers, working in mines, steel mills, car plants, cotton mills and industry in general. All those industries have gone, along with the workers they exploited. Yes, ofcourse we still have workers being taken advantage of but we also have nearly everyone owning their own homes. Hargreaves Lansdowne have over a million investors with them alone. Times have changed, society has moved but our Labour have gone not with them but back to the 1920's. Banning and expelling those members with different views. (Campbell, Champion, Blair just for example)
Corbyn/RLB/McDonnel /Unite/Momentum's idea of socialism is a set of rules based on dogma and ideology and not those of our current SOCIETY. In this way it becomes an elitist form of socialism for the chosen telling the rest of us we arent up to standard. Telling us we are racist, Royalist or Tories. Rubbish. What right has Corbyn got to call himself a socialist on the one hand but shut down dialogue from Champion, Campbell etc etc on the other. Its either his, or your, idea of socialism or nobodies. Socialism isnt about that. Its about society. Listening to all, trying to cater for all and debating about the future with decisions voted on by all, not just those deemed to be fit and in either Momentum or Unite. You cant regulate to force socialism, when you do it becomes Marxism at best and Communism at worst. Corbyn's vision of Labour made no attempt to represent our current society. Quite the reverse, he tries to regulate us with his vision of utopia. Boris on the other hand, head of a group steeped in doctrine managed to change and gain support of those sick of being told what socialism is by a group of elitist champagne socialists exploiting the system. Socialism comes from society, not the other way around. When such as you, and those steering Labour realise this we might see the Labour party back in power. Until then we have the Tories.
So stop telling me what is and isnt socialism. I know perfectly well. Its you and our current Labour who do not.
"Nearly everyone owning their homes..."??? Evidently you dont know anyone who works in the gig economy or as a messenger in central london. I think you're the one cocooned in a silo.

Congratulation to them, but the news I want to hear is that Billions are being invested in a crash program to find a cure for Corona Virus, why has no one asked why this isn't happening?

Maybe you are grown up enough to explain why you accuse the British government of not doing enough to combat the Coronavirus when it is apparent that it is a global problem

Because responsibility for the health of it's citizens is it's prime responsibility. We are about to be invaded by a deadly Virus, and rather that sort out the problem ourselves just count our dead and wait for help from outside, not taking back control is it?

And I have every sympathy for them, this does not justify not making the utmost effort to solve our own problem to the benefit of all, or are you against that? I believe we have the brains and resources to make a stab at this.

Actually I would love to see a repeat of the Black Death, this time with at least half the world's population wiped out.

What's not to like?

Immediately our global warming, climate change, earth resources and species decline problems eliminated. Remember it's the travelling communicators who cause these problems and are most prone to contracting the coronavirus, so they'd be the majority wiped out.

The period immediately following the Black Death was supposedly one of the best times to be alive in Europe. Don’t know if it’s true.

Anyway, where did Coronavirus come from. They are telling us it started in a Chinese fish shop. Sounds like BS to me. I don’t believe that if I take a fish, put it on a table and wait long enough, a flu virus will emerge.

I thought it was a fish market where they happened to have bats (and bat faeces) either as pets or for traditional medicine, anyway the fish part, I think, was not the active ingredient. But were well overdue for a proper plague
Edit, I did some googling, DNA analysis say it was illegally traded pangolins (my apologies to the bats)

There are so many rumours and none of them are coming up as proved likely - yet. I'll reserve judgement. And, unless it helps control the outbreak, it doesn't seem to matter very much from where we have reached.

Okidokes, its God's punishment for us not endorsing homo and islamophobia and trump simultaneously (I thought that might appeal to a leave voter)?
Once the coronavirus event has passed and all those who will die have done, we could re-run the referendum.

Then we'll know what proportion who died were the evil Leavers and we'd know if God played a part. ;)

It’s all about hate with you. You seem to be filled with it. You are like a brochure for the Labour Party, showcasing the various types of hate, spitefulness and jealousy on offer. A sort of pick & mix of nastiness. Calm down and try to be a nice person.

I suspect that throwing money at finding a vaccine will not work.
The virus seems to be well understood and apparently an American Lab are already ready to start some animal trials.
Whichever laboratory finds a treatment then they will make millions anyway, so the incentive is already there, and the process cannot be rushed.
It will take time, but we know where we are going unlike cancer etc.

You might be right that throwing money will not, in the end, be what gets us there. But if a lab needs money, and can show what they are trying to do and why they need it, then it would be folly not to consider throwing a few million in that direction.

Who knows - even some trivial things could help. It could be as simple as enhancing childcare for the people working there, doubling up some machines, underwriting insurance, ...

If successful, the country would gain a lot, financially and kudos.

Waiting like a sheep to be slaughtered isn't high on my list of desirable ends.
We are in what is in reality a WAR situation where this Virus constitutes an invader, and respond by preparing to count our dead in the hope it will go away?
This is supposed to be a Nation about to "take on the world and have it by the ears" remember.
And here we are accepting whatever fate throws at us.
So any effort could prove futile, not even making one is worse
It's Pathetic!
Remember we can always find money for a convenient war or two.

What about creating a virus and a vaccine in a laboratory. You then release the virus, let it start to take hold sufficiently to cause global panic, and then ride into town with the pre-prepared vaccine? You gain fabulous wealth and global kudos overnight. This is all good until the virus leaks out before the medicine is ready.

It‘s more plausible than saying someone caught it off a fish.

The only problem with that scenario..and it is plausible, is the comment by the Jeff Goldblum character in Jurrasic Park... Life finds a way .. These pesky viruses mutate.

It isn't the only problem.

You could get as far as making a vaccine but how do you test it? And, until you have tested it, you don't know how human bodies will react and whether it will work. So you need to use it and expose those who have been vaccinated to the virus. But who can you use? Yourself? (I think not!) Your co-workers? (They probably think not!) Anyone else and the virus will almost certainly be released by them.
