Do you think that one day Keir Starmer will get a reception like this as he goes on his election campaign?

I very much doubt it.

Oddly enough it was Jeremy Corbyn who got the closest of any UK politician when the huge Glastonbury crowd cheered him and were singing their "Oh Jeremy Corbyn" chant.

I doubt all of them were high on drugs.

if you want support from momentum, you have to:

1. blame the last GE result on ambiguous brexit position
2. give Corbyn 10 out of 10 for his performance
3. promise to keep JC's manifesto

It looks like we are never going to hear the end of rubbish like this in the Express
"
Merkel CRISIS: Germany faces eye-watering €14billion hike in EU contributions post-Brexit
ANGELA MERKEL’S Germany could be left in a crisis, as it has been revealed the country will have to pay significantly higher contributions to the EU after Brexit.

Are we supposed to care one way or the other? and yet the usual comments from reader morons gloat over the imagined damage Brexit is causing.
Not merely stupid, but vindictive too, when foreigners read our Press they must regard us with loathing, that we have fallen so far from being a reputable and reliable right minded nation.

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2020/jan/16/big-ben-unlikely-to-chime-on-brexit-day-no-10-indicates

On Tuesday, the prime minister said the government was “working up a plan so people can bung a bob for a Big Ben bong”. However, it transpired that there was no such plan "

And here is another No such plan statement
"Downing Street has promised to unveil a package of events to mark Brexit, but has yet to give any details. The programme is expected to be relatively low-key, with an emphasis on avoiding perceived triumphalism on what is still a hugely divisive issue. "

Mind you if Boris's name isn't among those involved , who knows? The question is, who , what or whom, is "Downing Street?"
A relative of "Will of the people" perchance?
Round here the principle of "one man one Vote" applies, and the "one man with the one vote" appears to be Dominic Cummings.

Of course he can!. Incidentally he is not just a columnist. He is or was the Editor of the Irish Times.
He had a brilliant piece before Christmas in the Irish times on how a school in West Dublin handled immigration and the Christmas story. Essentially the students were required by the Principal to use other languages than their native one.

There wasn't meant to be any surprise in my post. Just an appreciation.

Boris Johnson expected to open trade talks with US before negotiating with the EU

Clearly he still thinks he is a major player rather than a stooge

Boris unveils plans for massive Brexit day celebration to mark freedom from EU’s shackles
BORIS JOHNSON is to celebrate Brexit with Union flags, a commemorative coin and a massive projected countdown clock on the facade of 10 Downing Street, the Government announced last night. The Prime Minister will also directly address the nation on the need to “heal the divisions” left by the 2016 EU referendum campaign on the night of the UK’s departure from the bloc.

Am I supposed to be impressed?
Not a good start Boris

The BBC are reporting this from Sajid Javid:

There will be an impact on business one way or the other, some will benefit, some won't," he told the paper.
He used Japan's car industry as an example of a manufacturing sector which found success without following EU rules.
Asked how differing regulations between the UK and EU may impact industries such as automotive and pharmaceuticals, he said: "We're also talking about companies that have known since 2016 that we are leaving the EU.
"Admittedly, they didn't know the exact terms."

The last time I looked, we didn’t have our own car industry, or much of any industry. What is this man talking about?

Businesses still don’t know “the exact terms” because the government don’t even know. They will be whatever The EU and US grant us.

This all smells of massive job losses to me. But they will say they voted to lose their jobs & that’s what they want.

Sorry to repeat, but Fintan wrote:

It is striking that the justification for setting aside £120m of public money for a festival of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in 2022 has changed in parallel with this shift. When Theresa May announced it in 2018, it was meant “to showcase what makes our country great today”. Now, what she hailed as this “moment of national celebration” is repurposed as a moment of national consolation. The recently appointed director of the festival, Martin Green, has said it will have “a big narrative going on around healing and coming together”. You don’t have to come together if you have not been torn apart. You don’t have a festival of healing unless you’re feeling very sick.

"Heal the divisions" whilst positively imposing divisions of its own. The obvious UK from the EU. Plus NI from rest of UK especially with the Irish Sea border. Scotland from the rest of the UK (even if not granted a referendum). Even Wales has heard more about "indycurious" attitudes than in many a year.
