That was not a personal attack OG. Very slight exageration perhaps but nearer truth than not. You have made the same points (perhaps 3 of them) thousands of times, unfortunately to almost identical audience as 3 years ago.

No do stay and play, it's a quiet news day today (Unless the middle East Blows up)
Which it will. Could dwarf Brexit. Why we are involved I have no idea. But wouldnt be a PM for a gold pig. If we stand and do norhing it seens wrong but going in and assasinating a foreign leader (albeit one involved in terrorism) also seems wrong. Is world
a safer place today than last week. I doubt it. But who is in wrong? I havent a clue.

If a war starts then we have to hope we don't get dragged into it, this will be the first big test for Boris and co, and he desperately needs a Trade deal with the USA.

Predictable reaction in the Telegraph
"
If America's allies want to stop war with Iran, the best way is to side with the US

Really? how will that work?

the Express has this
"
Iran attack killed 'terrorist eager to destroy the West' - Huge praise for Trump in poll
DONALD TRUMP’s decision to give the go-ahead to the assassination of Iran’s Major General, Qassem Soleimani, has been hailed by Express.co.uk readers in a poll that saw a staggering 72 percent agree with the move, despite fears World War 3 could now be imminent.

I wonder what they think we have to gain?
Or do they think at all.

Boris makes a decisive move
In the Daily Mail
"
Boris Johnson REFUSES to recall Parliament to discuss Middle East crisis after US drone strike on Iran's most senior military commander
  • Boris Johnson last night refused to recall Parliament to discuss the Middle East
  • Iran's most senior military commander was killed in a US drone attack yesterday
  • Mr Johnson, who is on holiday, was kept informed of the situation over the phone
  • Government sources confirm the UK was given no advance notice of the attack

Nice evasive manouver Boris , cheaper than a day trip to Afghanistan, just stay put till the dust settles.
And what sort of an Ally doesn't tell you about something that could start a war, because it doesn't want your approval?
One that thinks it owns you is the answer.
Pretty soon it will, too.

I think it is now known as the Australian Gambit. Go away and stay away regardless.

(Unfortunately, he will return at some point.)

Wonder what the truth really is.

U.S. secretary of state Mike Pompeo says he discussed the decision to "take defensive action to eliminate Qassem Soleimani" with Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab and he is "thankful that our allies recognise the continuing aggressive threats posed by the Iranian Quds Force"

Raab is the opposite of Rory Stewart.

The Times are getting nervous

I take the view that the damage he will do to Boris and his plans could be quite welcome, especially if he ever manages to put his woolly hat on straight

Putin must be in danger of having a hernia from laughing when he reads that the failed would be "Airline Tycoon" has been let loose on the British Civil Service.
Come on Vlad, slip the Tory Mp's a few billion more Roubles, they're doing you proud!

Meanwhile ,"Where's Boris?"

There is nothing wrong with failing in business, as long as you learn from it. The only way to guarantee that you don’t fail, is to give up on life and do nothing.

Enjoyed that bit of homespun wisdom there
It was as they say is good and original, however wisdom suggests that failure in a small in enterprise is not a good qualification for attempting major surgery in the mechanisms that run the state.
Tell me, having heard and read from this guy's blog do you judge his character to be of the "learn from experience" rather than "blame those around you" kind?
Having learned what not to do to start an airline is hardly encouraging to a prospective employer who wants to revolutionise the Civil Service, and not helped by him seeking misfits and wannabee lunatics to use as troops in this battle.
Unless of course the would be employer's first name is Vladimir

yes, the obvious thing is your investment, not counting the likely effect on your dear ones.
If you lose money, the next venture will be even harder than the last one.

He might have other personal failings which make him unsuitable, but I don’t think we should make up our minds on the basis of one previous business failure. There could be any number of reasons the business didn’t prosper.

I don’t know what Vladimir Putin is doing, I don’t have that level of access.

there are usually plenty of warning sights before a business fails, so if one acts early enough, it's often very possible to turn around or change direction. I started making hifi stuffs (amps and speakers) in the 60s, when that became a big boys' game, I moved to PCs in the 80s, then added e-bikes in 2010.

How do you see something like 9/11 coming and the immediate downturn in passenger numbers as a result, for instance?

Some business trends can be anticipated, such as those which you the skill and foresight to see coming, but sometimes the unexpected can happen and destroy a business overnight.
