Brexit effects are starting to hit the poor,I remember the interview the BBC had in Blackpool prior to the referendum about what they wanted out of their vote...they said they wanted the government to notice them and in the longer term improve their prospects and lifestyle but at no time did they expect that it would make them poorer, I don't think they are ready for minimum 3 years of savage austerity and until we can organise trade deals that can open doors that could be a long time.
The government is unlikely to relieve the pain by raising benefits,in fact recent events would suggest that is the opposite of their intentions.
What is of concern is that the very people who voted Leave are those that are going to be in poverty for many years,I suppose they voted for this so they are going to be happy to deal with it or are they?

many experts have said it'll take 3 decades for more to negotiate FTAs with the EU and the 53 countries that offer currently preferential access to the EU. We'll have to make many more concessions to gain access and the deals won't be as good as now. In other words, hard brexit won't give your Hartlepool guy a better life, nevermind how long he's prepared to wait.
Brexit supporters should read Crispin Odey's letter to his clients. Odey, like Hargreaves, is an ardent supporter of brexit, he made £220 mils the day after the referendum.
He is now predicting the current bubble London stock market (currently on E/P 1.6%) is going to burst, recession and inflation.
well done, brexit.

I watched Steve Sackur interviewing WTO Director General Roberto Azevêdo tonight. Azevêdo explains how difficult trade talks will be after brexit. the EU has currently preferential treatment with 77 countries.
It's amusing to see Sackur trying several times to get Azevêdo to repeat the quote 'brexit is foolhardy'.
It seems to me that trade with the outside world after brexit may have to go through the IOM, Jersey and Guernsey.

From the Express the latest utter nonsense
"
Slash taxes to help boost EU exit: Brexit masterplan would improve fortunes for all
A HOST of hated taxes should be swept away to help Britain boom after Brexit, leading economists said last night.

Truly this paper needs to be prosecuted for working against the the Public Interest.

but I fear there is a perverse grain of truth in it - with the present further cut in disability benefits. one entirely plausible future scenario is an England with a farage/trump type prime minister dismantling the NHS much the way Trump will ( I have a morbid hunch he will win) do to Obama's health care reforms, as part of slashing taxes. cultural relativism being what it is it may be that there is a segment of the electorate who, like the educationally challenged Americans of the deep south yearn for a low living standard, taxes and the freedom to hate others.

Daily Mail playing the "invading Foreignor card again"
"
'Striking' rise of racially segregated Britain: Country is increasingly split down ethnic lines with numbers of whites HALVED in some areas in 10 years
  • White and minority groups now more isolated from each other than ever
  • In Newham white population fell from 33% to 16% in just 10 years
  • Blackburn named as one of Britain's most segregated communities
  • Whalley Range area 95% Asian and butcher has not served white person
  • Yorkshire street was all white three years ago - now all homes are Asian"
What are they thinking of? this may well be a great way of promoting continued faith in the Brexit Voters that the sacrifices they will face are "worth it" but it sure as hell is going to lead to an increase in lawlessness.

Why are they allowed to use such obviously inflammatory material to promote a cause without being censured?
The facts and social impacts of immigration will never be treated with the level of intellect required to understand and reassure the population of whatever ethnic origin they are with idiots in the press thinking the subject fair game for scoring political points.
This should be made clear to them in the interest of everyone's safety, both mentally and physically .

perhaps someone should remind them that race is an invalid hypothetical construct, genetically we are all "mixed race", and the iron age Picts, our most certain ancestors, were certainly not white..

The Daily Mail is still playing racial tensions for all it's worth with this
"
Migrant battle on the streets of Paris: Large gangs of men armed with clubs fight each other after their makeshift camp is destroyed"
Needless to say the mentally retarded readership loved that, and I offered this in the readers comments.
"Brexit has nothing to do with these people, they are not from teh EU and they will still come, don't kid yourselves otherwise. And where are the reports of casualties and the Ambulances? The whole thing looks staged, as why otherwise would they fight each other not the police? Don't fall for this rubbish!

Even got a couple a green arrows among the red.

I agree completely and the situation is under study, what I do not agree with is the Press inflaming the public for the sake of propping up the cause of Brexit which should not require arousing the passions of the mob to be a success.
Or is that fair play from your point of view?

I am sure a lot more companies who have been performing poorly will take the opportunity to blame their failure on Brexit. Must have been many firms failing pre Brexit who could have blamed the EU but nobody would have been interested. It's what happens all the time. Some fail. Some succeed.
Rather like this country itself[emoji1]

I'm sure if you talk it down enough it will do
ah, yes the power of a couple of forums to change the economic fortune of the economy.

I think you'll find there are bigger forces at play. Next time there is about to be an announcement about Brexit in the news... tomorrow for instance watch the current rates live. You;ll see the £ falls if its new that indicates a hard brexit is likely.

Equally have a look today when Old Groaner made his post, I'm sure you'll see no movement.

Its not people talking about facts that causing the economy to crash, its Brexit. unless of course you want to believe that all the experts who predicted this were wrong, and now all the things that are actually happening are also not actually now happening.

I saw this the other day and enjoyed it.

Simple offensive and adds nothing to the subject. You repeatedly offend me with this.

I had no idea that you were such a huge fan of the Tiny Scottish Idoit Woman. Personally, I'm not a big supporter.
