I watched the leadership debate last night. The four who now remain in the contest are promising things which they will not be able to deliver. We know this and it’s a fact.

Disappointment, frustration and despair awaits.
That describes just three of them who's the one you missed out?

Does that included the ones in Madam Tussauds?
Ah! Now you are talking. Quite a number of the heads at MT's were sculpted by my step-father. Including Henry VIII and his wives. I know exactly what they are inside:

They lack heart, courage and brain. Now where did I hear that before?

At least in the film, each of the characters only lacked one positive attribute. All the candidates lack all of them though possibly in slightly varying extents.

As Rory Stewart is revealed plotting with Gove: 'My sources tell me that Michael Gove is the favoured Trojan Horse of civil servants who wish to keep a Brexiteer out of Number 10'

My reply was this
"The best plan is to elect Boris, he dropped No deal and his tax cuts last night, by the time he gets the hot seat he will be campaigning for remain!

Absolutely. It was inevitable from the outset that they would **** away the A50 extension granted by the EU. Donald Tusk warned against it within hours of the extension being announced. If the EU gave them another extension, they’d **** that away too because they have no clue as to where they are going or what outcome they want.

Last night, the four remaining PM hopefuls were talking about the EU withdrawal timetable as though they controlled it. They don’t, the EU are in total control of that.

I’m assuming that all of the uncertainty created by our lacklustre, and directionless clowning around is damaging to the EU. It’s probably at a point where it would be better for them to take the hit of us crashing out rather than prolonging the agony. Then we roll the dice and hope that we shake a dozen sixes and win the unknown prize. Anything else is bust.
Agree with everything until the last paragraph. No. It is not damaging to the the EU..It just gives a little more time to put the ducks in rows ,allows the building works at ports to proceed without paying overtime. But I don't think a revamped EU parliament and commission will be as accomodating to a new Tory PM... The view will be they .knew what they were taking on..

To the simple everything is simple. Yes a marginal majority of people who voted in 2016 ,voted for some level of sundering with the EU. That is undeniable fact. Now I do not want or have the power ,nor does the EU , have the power to stop the UK , going down a path that is self destructive. I wish you ( the collective 66 million) to come to your senses, and STOP it yourselves, before it is to late. The only vote which mattered was the one in which the MPs voted to enact the Withdrawal from EU Bill.
The salient point is that a significant number of those people who voted leave in 2016, did so in ignorance of the consequences,or the level of sundering which is now envisaged.
Thank you, I do not actually think I am stupid, but perhaps hammering the same message again and again to an uncomprehending audience is the definition of stupidity... However I take comfort from the tenacity of John Hume ,who had to hammer a simple message for 20 years ,before he got through the wall of invincible ignorance.

I think you are stupid. Not intellectually in regard to learning facts from books etc. But incredibly stupid when it comes to understanding that others have a different opinion to you and of course when accepting you are wrong.

Of course your opinion means slightly less than nothing when it comes to Brexit. We just indulge you and your Anglophile leanings.

You are like our pet. Sometimes we need to rub your nose in the mess you make. But ultimately you are accepted here.

Well done!

Did you have to say that? Fingers will be wetting himself in excitement, we'll never hear the end of it (suitably exaggerated, embellished , distorted and with bells and whistles added)

No, no,

No need to embellish this blarney.

Thousands is funny enough.

Bless.

I fully accept that you have a different opinion. In particular, I fully accept that Woosh has an argued pro Brexit stance, which he articulated many moons ago.
Perhaps you will enlighten me as to those occasions when I have been factually wrong.

Recently you proffered your wide and ranging knowledge of English law in regard to journalists and contempt of court in their protection of sources.

You were incorrect.

I put you right.

As recently as this week you seemed to think that no country would have vetoed Scotland had they left the Union and immediately wished to join the EU.

You were incorrect. (Ironically some other countries muted the same, but that’s by the by)

I can only lead you to knowledge. I can’t make you understand it.

Look. This is pointless. If you really think you’re correct then do a poll. There are, according to you, thousands of people watching your errors.

Why not ask them who is right?

I mean there are thousands right? And they all agree with you right?

Put it to the test my good man.

1. Regarding Journalists, and contempt of Court, I was referring to magistrates, and you the high court, where stakes are higher... So yes I concede that point.
2. Regarding Scotland in 2014, no country vetoed their potential admission..because the opportunity or problem never arose, no country THREATENED to veto their admission, although there was an implication in Mr Camerons interjection that the UK might. Your posting referred to facts attributed to Mr Rajoy and Mr Barrosso ,then president of the EU, which indicated the required process, and then speculation by a journalist that this would be a veto. So yes I still believe that had Scotland, kept their nerve and voted for Independence, that they would have been welcomed into the EU seamlessly. It may even have given potential Brexiteers cause to ponder.

Ok.

Thank you for conceding number one.

That’s great. Changed my life etc.

Your second point is your usual blarney.

How can an EU country veto a country that hasn’t asked to joIn the EU? Think about that....

Seriously....

Think about that. They said they would if they tried... (see my previous posts) your stupid semantics show you up as, well. Thick. Your lack of comprehension puts you with groaner.

Do you remember the Catalonian riots what 3 years later? Think again. Do you see why they said what they said about Scotland?

Jesus man. You are probably thicker groaners mince.

So you think. Despite the Catalonians uprising, of which the Spanish government were fully aware of would have allowed the independence state of Scotland just join. Without them using their veto...

You sir are a moron. It’s clear. At anytime I investigate your stupid posts I find such abject stupidity it’s just embarrassing.

As I say. I don’t even use my golden shovel to bury you. I don’t even get my hands dirty. You bury yourself.

Who said they would veto a Scottish application?. Not the Spaniards, then or now,..or do you have another source which identifies official Spanish or other EU countries threatening to Veto an independent Scotland.
Yes I am actually very familiar with the Catalonian referendum and its aftermath... You may find my and fleccs postings illuminating. In fact I had a daughter and son in law caught up in the violence..so I am very aware. I posted a position on it which was unpopular with a number of the participants on this forum.
The essential difference between a Catalonian sescession and a Scottish Independence Referendum was that the Scottish one was done under the legal authority of the sovereign state,as the UK Parliament had authorised it. Whereas the Spanish State, had not.

in fact, you don't have to wait very long. BJ does it again.

quote:

As the five contenders were lead out of the BBC studio in the basement of New Broadcasting House, their microphones were still attached.
Boris was overheard telling them: “You see chaps, we don’t disagree on that much”.
Environment Secretary Michael Gove immediately retorted: “Dates, Boris, dates”.
But Boris replied to him and shrugged: “Hardly, pah”.
...
JH:
“Now, the danger is that if we choose the wrong person now, we will have no trust, no negotiation, no deal, and possibly, if we have an election, no Brexit”.

WTF does this garbage mean. Which truth? What is resonating? WTF are you smoking.
JA is the most insulting poster on forum, (he changed his ID to try and lose his previous incarnation) but to be fair nor far behind flecc these day, and not a word in their direction. Nice one.
I see you you got approval from Mitch and Mo
