Boris Johnson on using cocaine: ‘I tried it at university and I remember it vividly’
Taken from our 2007 interview, Piers Morgan sat down with Boris Johnson to talk about drug use

He is unique in that his supporters will use the argument "He's lying again!" as a Defence!
What have we come to when such a villain gets to the top job?

It looks like it's all over.

Particularly as providing Boris gets into the final two - when it goes out to us the hard working Tory membership - he will trounce it (currently polling 80% with the membership).

Just to see Owen Jones face When Boris wins...... oh my god - what a delight.

That is what might be termed transactional morality. Integrity pays off in the end. Not taking the moral high ground, and engaging in hypocritical cant, but taking the time and effort to separate fact from fiction and speaking truth to power, when you actually know what the truth is.
We can also prevaricate, and choose to evade the requested answer, but telling an untruth, in order to get off the hook ,is plain wrong. In my latter years of introducing students to the practice of Engineering and introducing them to professional ethics ,I would start remind them that they were entering this college with an A in one subject.. Their personal integrity and only one person could take that away. Once lost trust is very difficult to re-establish. .. Examples would follow, and if I were giving it this year, the VW and Boeing sagas would figure. Its about the only talk, I gave which got a real positive response. ...
I am not saying telling an untruth to get yourself off the hook is not wrong. No. Time and place. That is one time and place for the truth.

Come on Danny - please don't tell me you're so far stuck in your rational mind that you can't think of plenty of examples where a 'lie' (white lie?) is the best course of action?

Note I used the words evade, and prevaricate. Very early in my professional career myself and another individual were summoned to the Director of Manufacturing operations in respect of some glitch. The other person told untruths , and I promised myself there and then, I would not let myself get unto such a situation again. Yes it's occasionally been sticky, and I have kept quiet about certain things at different times , but never in my professional life have I deliberately told an untruth knowing it to be so. I am retired now,so my word and my signature has no meaning, but back in the day it did.

BJ was openly endorsed by 85 MPs and got 114.
Stewart got endorsed by 6 and got 18, beating Leadsom, McVey and Harper who had more endorsements.
He is way behind BJ but has the momentum.

Incidentally, and I don't do it often, but I agree with Farage, and believe that Brand should immediately withdraw her "humourous" remarks regarding battery acid. If not the BBC has only one course of action.

She should be prosecuted. Inciting violence.??

I disagree, withdrawal only applies to serious statements.

Jo Brand specialises in extremely provocative humour, delivered in a sly manner that shows its content is not meant seriously. It's just one of the many styles of humour.

What next, are we to destroy all the recordings of Tom Lehrer on the grounds of their often very offensive content?

Good. I'm with you on that. I've been trying to point to areas of human experience where 'lying' is a good thing. I have failed. So be it. But I still think you know what I'm getting at even if you don't want to let on.

Yup. I'm with you on that too. Brand is acting like a child. It's just not funny.

Then what?. What happens if say 15 of the Tory MPs cannot stomach him as MP. Does he need a vote of confidence before or after he visits the Queen?.
Not going to happen. They will stick with him for at least long enough to settle things down. Then its the fight with Corbyn and Farage - and let's face it he's the only one who can beat both of them. Farage in particular is where Boris can compete - none of the others will be able to deal with Farage like Boris can.

the tories are scared of the competition: Farage on the right, JC on the left, and even of their own shadow.
BJ promises to his supporters self confidence, that they are not going to lose their jobs and tax cuts.
If it does not turn out that way then oops he's done it again!

what if women or Muslims were the target of such remarks?? Personally I think we make far too much fuss about people being offended, but it seems to be one rule for some and one for others. Look at the ridiculous reaction to Boris's remarks about Muslim dress. You'd think he'd murdered somebody
