The Channel 4 news carried the story of Michael Gove's confession that he used class "A" drugs twenty years ago.
Everyone seems to say "Oh well it was twenty years ago"
My take is simple
He didn't own up to a mistake
He confessed to a crime, when does he go to court
And before some smart ass asks
I don't drink, smoke, gamble or take any drugs except those prescribed, and in youth I briefly smoked and gave that up 50 years ago, and the last alcohol drink I had was around midnight on millenium eve.
In many ways, I really don't care if he took cocaine twenty years ago.

What I do care about is that he supported the incredibly nasty "industry" that grows, processes, ships, distributes and finally supplies those who take cocaine. Whether the money came directly out of his pocket or not.

How many snorts per death?

Agreed. Time to legalise cocaine? Does prohibition produce anything other than crime.
Narcos is a fantastic crime drama and shows the situation in a cruel hard light. Folk spending disposable income on illegal recreatiinal drugs are ruining many lives, the counter side of that is our unbelievable discrepency world wide in incomes is also fueling the cartels and their industry.
Gove should know better, I actually wonder if its all lies.??? He probably snorted talcum powder..

I do think it's high time for a Royal Commission into drugs, their use and who supplies them.

Holland has reigned back on its liberalisation of drugs. Some say its due to lack of demand others that they want to stop drug tourists.

The legalisation of marijuana in the states has been a success but its going through a meth epidemic. Do they legalise that too?

Its a tough one no doubt.

Given gove's character/persona/weird combination of hypocricy/narcissism/deceit, cocaine is probaly the least of his problems. Momentarilly, after i heard about it, i thought it made him seem more human. On the whole i fancy him almost as much as grayling as the next tory leader. Despite corbyn, it will guarantee a labour victory

Another substance of questionable safety.

Not pretending I know the science or the answer, but there are plenty who say that at least some forms of talcum powder contain enough asbestos to be dangerous.

The Tory leadership contender Dominic Raab has said the possibility of sidelining parliament to force through Brexit should not be ruled out, as to do so would weaken the UK’s negotiating position in Brussels.

“I think it’s wrong to rule out any tool to make sure that we leave by the end of October,” Raab told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, as the Conservative party reels from its disastrous results in the European election, in which Eurosceptic voters flocked to the Brexit party.

I can think of one tool who should be ruled out.

What are you talking about?

I give a clear response to your utter nonsense. And you call me dumb because I don't work in the media? Or because I do work in the media?

Utter nonsense. Every single post.
But you still keep posting them, why do you do that?
Have you figured out which part of the Statute of limitations applies to taking Class A drugs yet?

Why do I call you dumb? because of comments like these and anyone who works in the media should have more sense

"You are just a liar. You talk nothing but nonsense"
"You cut and paste from your main sources of news ( The Mail and Express) then write some inane comment."
"Try and have an original thought that isn't a lie or nonsense for once. "
"You really are an idiot. "
"Christ you talk some ****. "
"More BS to add to your ever growing mountain of it. "
"I'm genuinely thinking its stupidity not dyslexia. Willful ignorance too. "
"And please. Stop with the primary school insults. It's truly unedifying to have an argument with an old man with an 8 year brain. "
"Luckily today I'm at work and it's quiet. It's good to dissect your lies, nonsense and stupidity so forensically. Its shows you who you are. "
"Your rudeness is only matched by your level or retardation. "
"I'm going to put it down to dyslexia and not some serious ailment that is developing.
I feel better if I just think it's dyslexia that means you comprehension synapses aren't firing correctly. Or may you are playing a game and it's just simple trolling?
Nah. You lack the wit and spontaneity. I will stick with dyslexia. "

Quite a collection! few people can match that can they?
Well, to be fair not after they pass the age where they throw tantrums.
Thank you for your comedy input

In the case of criminal acts, there are no statutory limits on the prosecution of crimes in the UK except for ‘summary’ offences (offences tried in the magistrates’ court). In these cases, criminal proceedings must be brought within 6 months.

First statement I found - no idea about the site.

Will the limitation period defence automatically apply?
In theory, no. A civil claim can still be made by the claimant even if the limitation period has passed. If the defendant wishes to strike it out on the basis that it is time barred, it must actively raise this as a defence.

The court can still allow a claim can proceed, even where the limitation period has passed. However, the claim would have to be extremely strong for the court to do so, and there would normally have to be very good reasons for the court to allow the claim to continue; for instance, if the claim is not defended.

A confession of wrong doing is about as "Extremely strong" a you can get if someone cared to press charges
And how can he defend himself from his own admission of guilt?

Who is going to press charges and give evidence?

His dealer?

You'd be dangerous if you had a brain.

Fingers we can both agree that selling the NHS or more plausibly privatisation or running it down would be greeted with fury by the UK's people. However it has been flagged up and last Tuesday , Mr Trump was asked a question about it, and his answer, was along the lines of in trade talks everything including the NHS is on the table. Now whether he actually knows or cares what the NHS is ,I will not speculate, he could believe it to be a ball bearing factory in Norwich ,but since a few days earlier and responding to comments from your Health secretary, "who said not on my watch" , Trump did refer to the NHS, he may actually have an inkling.
they won't 'buy' the NHS, Donald Trump only insists that NHS procurement auctions be open equally to US firms like they were to EU firms until now, such as care homes, private hospitals doing NHS operations, no price control on drugs etc.

I agree. The current fashion of owning up to taking drugs is totally unacceptable and it should lead to immediate disqualification from the leadership contest.

If you consider the journey the cocaine has taken from it’s source to Michael Gove’s nose, it becomes very serious. The drugs supply chain is inextricably linked with serious levels of violence and other major crime. It not just about being a bit naughty, it’s about contributing to all of the crime and misery along the supply chain. By snorting cocaine, Gove has contributed to this violence and in my view, this makes it impossible for him to be the PM of the U.K.

I’ve never taken illegal controlled drugs, so I’m sure we can find someone else who hasn’t. We should not have to put up with people like Gove, he’s unfit for public office.

A danger you won't face, admitting criminality is a serious matter for someone who want to assume any public office, but this is no doubt too complicated for you to understand

I referred to a woman a couple of days ago who was screaming Nazi at an old man. Her face was contorted with hatred as she spat venom at him and she cheered as he was pushed to the ground and pelted with milkshake. The incident was in the news and there is video footage.

The old man’s crime, which fuelled the uncontrollable hatred from this woman, was his support for Donald Trump and Trump’s desire to sell services to the NHS. It turns out that the woman worked for a private company which sold services to the NHS. There’s no hope.
