Why do Labour keep shooting themselves in the foot? I wonder sometimes if the hard left actually want to be in power or just remain as a sort of protest group. Moaning about everything but not having to worry about ever having to make any important decisions about the future of the country.

Stupidity and incompetence will with any luck keep them out of power is there is to be general election.
The worst possible fate for any political party is to take on the blame for Brexit and let the Conservatives off the hook for what is after all, entirely their creation.

I'm quite sure Labour haven't wanted to be in power during the Brexit debacle, who in their right minds would want to be?

So much easier to let the Tories take all the fallout and then try for power after some resolution. The tactic of leaving the Tories to do the trade negotiations while taking a part in that by mutual agreement could be smart. They can then avoid blame for anything in the final outcome since the Tories were in charge throughout.

A party doesn't have to be popular to be elected, it's only necessary for the outgoing party to have become very unpopular. The Tories are doing a great job of achieving that, with first austerity and then the Brexit fiasco.
.
My feelings exactly

Maybe they will send out a leaflet to every household.....But they will send it a week before the
campaign officially begins so it doesn't count towards allowed spending...…...Should only cost
about 9 million.
Leaflets sent by government asking people to vote for their plan are written by civil servants.
Leaflets sent by political parties are written by politicians.
Big difference.
Besides, government leaflets are not micro-targeted.

The point Woosh was making was that the information published by the Remainder campaign, whether civil service or party, was public wide scale and not microtargetted. Therefore if it contained untruths they could be openly challenged There is a strong suspicion that information sent by the Leavers was specifically targeted at individuals, following a trawl of their interests, prior postings ,websites visited and did NOT contain truthful statements. Say if someone expressed an interest in cats, there would be cat pictures, then followed by stories of cruelty to cats carried out by Johnny Foreigner. If only 10% of voters were targeted, and changed their minds, that is a swing of 20%.
Now whether this is true or not is difficult to confirm, but that is the allegation and we are all aware that context specific adverts follow every Google search.

Well spotted opportuity for the leave campaign, by law the government has to put one out too, and it is likely to be in favour of leave this time, as that is Government policy, so you have nothing to complain about.

There are not enough police to cope with a thousand or so climate protesters in London.

I find this quite alarming.

I agree with their cause but their protest has highlighted what the Tories have done in ten years. Imagine if something serious happened.

Depleted army, no police, failing hospitals. Transport run by failing Grayling.

Schools going on four day weeks.

Cameron and May. How can anyone in their right minds ever vote Tory again?

Look on the bright side. Almost no terrorist attacks, lowest unemployment ever with zero-hours contracts also running at an all time low (2%), the weather and the BBC. Whats not to like?

Bottom line Leave had the better core message: Take Back Control. Remain never came up with anything like as strong or catchy a slogan as that.

You blame the Conservatives alone for Brexit? How ridiculously simplistic! Ha. As if that could be the sole cause! What nonsense!

You really are weird, even when presented with facts you still cling to fantasy, so what are you laughing at, do you enjoy making a fool of yourself?
Mandates are judged on percentage terms and that is what the chart covered, simple numbers mean nothing for after all you can argue that more people didn't vote in favour than ever before.
Plus the actual majority leave achieved (4.2%) was numerically far less than many past elections.
Here is an even better idea, just go, we don't need people who only come on as you just boasted intent on making a nuisance of themselves
What makes you post remarks like
"What nonsense your blind hatred makes you do"?
I post the truth, your business is lies and propaganda by your own admission.
Blind hatred of what exactly? sorry but all of your posts will be responded to whether you ignore me or not, hide by all means, that is what cowards do
Don't hold back OG!!!

Ok I forgot about population increase and this was the biggest numerical turnout, so I was wrong about that, but even taking that into account the numbers leave won by were far smaller than most of the other elections above them in that list,
Still it gave our resident trolls something to crow swagger, boast and insult me about.
Naturally rather than pointing out my mistake they behaved as they usually do.
Innocent of all charges (me I mean).

Are people beating up on eachother?

Terrible!

Bruised egos huh? We all have 'em.

only a conservative government will deliver brexit.
It would appear huh. Would labour? No. Frankly the party that is supposed to be 'of the people' (well thats how I always understood the Labour party) - the party of the people would actually vote against what the people voted.

I am not making this up.

The Labour party - the party of the people (sorry but I am repeating because it is such a crazy fact) - the party of the people would vote against the people.

Its ******* ridiculous.

Not just Labour. Funnily enough - one person who is NOT shooting himself in the foot - and hasn't for a LONG time - is...... drum roll....... Farage.

Farage has been saying the same basic thing for about 20 years now. Same message. When 'polite' society first heard it he was called a racist and worse - then slowly to some parts of the electorate he became mainstream.

Which is where he is right now. Saying the same thing. Over and over.

You can not like the man for what he says - but when was the last time Farage has to apologise for what he said? Almost never that's when.
