Here’s the clue, “In the Guardian”.

That newspaper is like an anti-venom to the daily mail, both being toxic and dangerous on their own.
Slight problem with that notion
They did not originate the headline, the Institute of Directors did, and they are as Conservative as they come.
Sorry that trope won't wash.

Brexit: If another referendum reverses EU vote ‘there will be blood on the streets’

The White Cliffs of Dover are a symbol of Britain’s ‘finest hour’ but, as Patrick Cockburn finds, the port town is now also an emblem of the country

By what logic does one past vote negate the future right of the same group of voters to change their minds, justify some idiot claiming "there will be blood in in the streets"?

Now what have you been reading? Calm down & step back, this isn’t doing you any good.

And where does your pension come from? Does it come from a portfolio of investments or have you an old mattress stuffed with “deep sea divers?”
The state and a company pension. Nothing else.
Not that your opinion matters, but do you disapprove of pensions?
And yes I don't need some self styled financial genius to explain how pensions are financed thank you very much

Lord Adonis on Newsnight gave this example of changes after brexit:
until now, credit card interest rate is capped by the EU.
After brexit, it may not be capped or capped to a different level.
Oh dear, there might be a few tears and cheap cars up for sale. This could be an opportunity replace my 17 year old Subaru Forester dog taxi.

Living off investments then.
Where did I say I disapprove of pensions. Ofcourse I dont. I recently started drawing my own works one. Its fantastic. You are making the distinction between investments and pensions when in reality they can not be seperated. They are one of the same.
Amazing how many people criticise the very system that feeds them.

he was making a point about our government rushing through the Lords a bundle of laws and statutory instruments before brexit date. A lot of them put current consumer protection at risk, such as a cap on lending rates. We have a few street lenders who exploit people in financial troubles, credit card companies charging lots of interest etc.
Without checks and bounds, money lending is not a service, it's blood sucking parasite. Capitalism needs to be restrained, controlled and organised.

Here’s the clue, “In the Guardian”.

That newspaper is like an anti-venom to the daily mail, both being toxic and dangerous if consumed on their own.

As I’ve said before though, I personally think a hard no deal Brexit, which many seem to want, risks jobs.
A questioning, possibly rational, response might have been to ask if a significant number of E27 firms are considering shifting to the UK - whether as small satellite operations or wholesale. And let us know whether there are any?

If it is pretty much all one-way, then that rather underlines the importance. If two-way, especially if the shift to the UK appears larger than the other way around, it undermines it.

That’s fair enough. I don’t disapprove of pensions, I love them, I started a company one at the age of 16, my friends thought I was crazy. That pension is paying a government backed index linked final salary now and it’s ace.

What does puzzle me is when you are so heavily critical of people who invest for themselves, effectively cutting out the pension or investment fund manager’s rip-off fees. You were severely critical of the property deal I completed last year, yet you as a pensioner benefit from exactly the same type of investment scheme. The only difference between you & I on that front is that I did it myself, and you pay a fund manager.

Could you forgive me if I said that I thought your stance is hypocritical?

that's a legitimate question which has received little attention.
My guess is most businesses wanting to reposition themselves either wholly or partly in and out of the UK will want to wait another month for some clear direction.
No brexit is still possible. Fundamentally, any deal with the EU will show up that promises of any brexit related economic gain are difficult to achieve while the downside is made more obvious.
That will shift a few voters to remain. My guess is remainers will make the push for second referendum if TM fails to move the backstop.
May's deal is still 50/50 at the moment.

Anybody watch Andrew Neil take apart Ken Livingstone on 'the week' last night?

If you thought James Dellinpole got destroyed last week on that show - Livingstone I think managed to top even that.

His defence of Venezuela quite appalling - and he paid the price.

I’m not entirely sure what you mean AK.
Thinking is work. You had to work two hours so the money was not free. Free money is the stuff you get when you don't lift a finger.

Was that an insult? He is basically calling you a liar.

Tut tut AK.
Poor little fingers...

I'll explain: a lie would be to say "there is no such thing as free money" but I didn't say that did I? And we all know who the sad little person who calls people liars is, don't we? Celui qui dit est celui qui fait...

I did watch Ken doing TV harakiri on Andrew Neil's This Week.
He walked straight into Neil's trap like James Delingpole did the week before.
It goes to show that many of our politicians and journalists are totally uncritical and lazy thinkers.

I agree, what is surprising is people going on that show thinking they can wing it against Andrew Neil. It’s a shame many other political interviewers aren’t as well briefed as he is.
