Happy Christmas to all - wherever you live and which ever way you voted.

No royalist, but...

Queen tells nation to put aside differences in Christmas message
With Britain divided by Brexit, monarch will say peace and goodwill needed ‘as much as ever’

Trouble is, just how do people do that when they are absolutely convinced that they are right, or (possibly) just that the others are wrong?
For evil to triumph it just requires
Good men to do nothing.

For otherwise if we don't oppose Brexit the consequences among the people are unlikely to be satisfied with pious hopes, and a future generation will have been robbed of it's rightful citizenship of the EU by criminal acts

Thank you, and the same to you and yours, with best wishes for the New Year.

On Brexit and all EU matters, only one person was ever completely right. That was General de Gaulle when, after refusing the UK's entry for the second time, he explained:

"The British have a deeply ingrained dislike of the European project."

He certainly had this nation well summed up!

A Classic example of how dangerous the Rabid right wing press is

This couple should sue the Mail for at least a Million Pounds and demand an apology and in future it sticks to the law and doesn't set itself up as judge and jury

Roy Greenslade was pretty damning of the coverage in some papers in his Guardian piece. It is not as if they (the papers which appeared to name and shame them) didn't have form - remember Christopher Jefferies.

Had I been informed just by the Mail, I would have been expecting an open-and-shut case with whoever it was being sent to gaol for a good long time. As it was, experience has taught many of us to be somewhat more circumspect.

Absolutely right. How do they know that Meghan & Kate won’t be spending Christmas Day together? This is just right wing BS propaganda, cynically calculated to stir up facist activity. I hate the Daily Mail, and again I agree with you, they should take them to court and seek damages.

Does the Daily Mail apologise?
No of course not it posts a video of it's victims saying how upset they are then moderates the reader comments to include such as this

When you are innocent and are released you would not behave like this you are just delighted! People are arrested on a daily basis and found to be innocent and released! The No win people have got to them.

You are right. The police and the media have behaved very badly throughout this incident. These two people are innocent until a court says otherwise, just like we would want to be viewed. I stated in another thread that the filth have done a Cliff Richard job and if they are not proven to be guilty, I hope they get a sack full of cash and bring humiliation on the authorities. Having said that, they are doing a pretty good job of humiliating themselves.

Its all a bit academic now anyway. We are unlikely to see another drone incident because we have an MP for drones, Ben Wallace. A man with a degree in politics and an ex skiing instructor. That’s reassuring.

Now go and play some vintage Cliff on Spotify and show him some support. No Christmas is complete without Cliff :) Hope you have a good day and have your loved ones around you.

Better qualified for his role than many others.:)

Reminiscent of Denis Howell in 1976, first made Minister for Drought, then Minister of Floods. Are they hoping that simply creating a Minister for Drones will solve the problem?

Wouldn't it be wise to increase the remit to "Ministry for UFO's" that way we kill two "Birds" with one stone!
Mind you the ministry will probably end up as big as MI6
