Hello. Hello??

Could anyone out there tell me why an organisation born as a Trading Bloc should need an Army?
Did the EEC need one back then?
So whose citizens are going to be conscripted?
and of course who are they going to fight? Russia maybe? Good luck with that one...

thankfully we`re getting outta there..

Is it because Germany wanted one maybe?

Will that mean us adopting the euro? If so, those who are so antagonistic towards the euro might find they have scored (in their terms) a spectacular own-goal.

Reckon that will be one of the conditions for sure. And absolute intergration. We will have to be fully into the project.

It will be carnage if that happens.

The cartoon in today's Irish times..which I am incapable of extracting has..

Overweight highly irate John Bull character waving draft agreement.

" This will make us a vassal state.

All our decisions will be made by European burocrates

Away from our currently elected government
BLOODLY GOOD IDEA. "

Because they are in the process of forming a superstate
As a trading bloc it was outside their remit
Citizens of the bloc from nations who agree
Any threat and respond to disasters as required.

By your logic, why do we need an army, who are we going to fight? the Russians? :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

And an excellent comment too
"Dominic Raab’s resignation in protest at a deal he was himself responsible for negotiating is like robbing a bank and then performing a citizen’s arrest on yourself on the way out"

Oh really..... that`s nice,

stumbled across this about your Mr. Verhofstadt
https://twitter.com/SocialM85897394/status/1063771577366573056

Does he remind you of someone? Back around 1940ish, little guy, had a tache...

he had an army too.....

Yeah, sounds like a real fun guy.
You must be confused that was a great speech, about time too
By the way the other chap you were referring to was an agressive nationalist like you, was he a hero of yours by any chance?
After all who would dream of relying on American support in the event of War? it would be all over for a minimum of a year and a half on the basis of their record in the Two world wars

Why? If the public reach the point where they want to rejoin the EU, they will accept what they are choosing.

It all comes down to whether Brexit causes suffering. It won't take much pain to get a large majority of the public denying they were the ones voting to exit.

So whichever way it goes, no carnage.

If May’s deal gets voted down by our parliament then what’s next ....
1.No deal....crash out
2.Second vote
3.Modify May’s deal
Labour should really vote for May’s current deal,it is actually very close to their 6 criteria, the only reason that Corbyn would want to vote it down is that he hopes that it will lead to a GE. if May fails,I don’t think it will,May will hang on regardless.
That underlines the problem with Brexit,it has been hijacked by the politicians for selfish and opposing agendas, they are certainly not concerned by the national interest....this compares with the EU,there are no individual agendas,Barnier has acted for the whole 27,hence their success in the negotiations.
Personally I hope May’s deal gets voted through,it seems our best way of keeping us close to the EU and keeping us in the CU and SM,still not as good as remaining but the next best action.
We need the EU to protect us from our own stupid actions.

Blimey! Your ignorance is only outweighed by your stupidity 'tommie'. Have you never given any thought whatsoever to the matters in hand?

Best you just go sit in a corner and practise some flute music! You're out of your depth in the real world where people want to live their lives without racism or religious bigotry.

I agree entirely David. If this government needs the likes of the DUP, the political wing of the combined Ulster, protestant terrorist groups, to force their agenda through parliament, then it's a sad day for democracy and for common, human decency.

3.Modify May’s deal
May's deal can't be modified, the departure deal has been finalised and the EU have confirmed as much. So the options are, Crash out, or a second referendum with a binary choice, Remain or accept May's deal. A three way choice isn't acceptable since it's even more likely to get balanced result again with nothing resolved.

Personally I hope May’s deal gets voted through,it seems our best way of keeping us close to the EU and keeping us in the CU and SM, still not as good as remaining but the next best action.

I reluctantly agree, but can't see how the DUP will vote to support the deal after all they've said.
