Take it steady to begin with. I have been gaining experience over the last 15 years but I'm getting the hang of it now.:)

Tom
It might sound like a strange thing to say, but I’ve always been of the opinion that retirement is actually going to be hard work. Three months in and that is proving to be true. It takes a lot of work to ensure that you have structure and purpose to your time once retired.

So far it’s great. :)

Fully agree Zlatan, I've never joined any of those Social Media sites.
Ditto. Never joined any of them and do my best to explain to people that using facebook as their main site, especially for businesses, is crazy.

There are a few sites, like here and a health-related site, which I see the quid pro quo of things and accept the balance. And I have also been quite active on usenet (newsgroups) in the past.

It's not about rights to advertise though, it's about method, blatantly using sexuality instead of drawing attention to the product advantages. Men sell cars, but have you ever seen an image of a well endowed man in Speedos or Kalvin Klein underpants draped over the bonnet of a car at a motor show?
.
Well, I'm free weekends....

Social media should take massive blame for our current mess.
We, ve been lied to, conned, insulted through it and developed traits that are spreading into the real world.
We come on here and openly insult, put down and release self esteem and righteousness in a way we d never dream of face to face. It's simply not healthy, but we are hooked. It's addictive and we are addicted.
I, ve closed my Facebook, WhatsApp and twatter. I won't be posting again. (If I can break this affliction) I suggest we all make a stand, do same and find someone to talk to.
Cheers.
Zlatan.
It's too late for you to recant , you seem a little down in the mouth today is there anything we can do to get the old "Drain the swamp" urge going?.
And I forgive you for imagining I wouldn't be just the same on a face to face basis, for when I could actually see the expression on your face, that would be added encouragement!
Come on now cheer up, press on rewardless!

I decided I would aim for an early retirement at the age of 16, yes really, it's absolutely true. So I did eventually retire early and in 7 days time will have been retired for 28 years.

With all that preparation time I've never found it difficult, the only difficulty was in tolerating the years before retirement started.

When asked at the age of 12 what was my Ambition when I grew up.
"I want to be a Tramp! "I replied with pride.
Everyone Laughed.
Hah!

I remember a newspaper cartoon from my youth, possibly a Mutt and Jeff one. It has jeff sitting by the riverbank fishing and an irate Yank going by.
Conversation goes .
What are you doing
Fishing
Why are you not working
Why
So you can make lots of money
Why
So you can retire early
Why
So you can go fishing
Sequence of question marks.
Last box .. two people fishing...

Different one, it's the accelerator pedal in this case, one pedal control for all three functions.

Press down to go, ease off to slow down and regenerate charge current, lift off further for normal braking with further regen.

Called e-pedal since it's an e-car accelerator pedal feature. It's optional, can be switched on or just stay with the default normal two pedal control.

Pro-Pilot is their semi-automatic self-driving system, letting the car take over control of driving, with or without self-steering. Works well, but best, safest and most convenient in almost all circumstances if I keep control of the steering.
.
What can I say? all the millions spent of Research Development and testing, and in the end you still only trust the nut in front of the steering wheel..
Tommorow my jalopy goes in for a Service, and this is the report I will pass to the Service Manager
" Spurious Fault Warnings displayed in the last two weeks
1 Workshop Warning Ensure control lever is in the “P” when leaving the vehicle once in the last two weeks
2 Starting off in Sport Mode
Five times in the last two weeks had to manually change ot back to normal mode
3 Loss of pressure in Front offside tyre
Four times in the last two week pressure of both front tyres were OK computer reset
4 Loss of Pressure in Nearside Front tyre
Twice in the last two weeks same result as above
5 Loss of pressure in both nearside wheels
Once in the last two weeks photograph taken of the display , pressures OK and compare with offside OK
6 Spurious Collision warning
Three times in the last two weeks at 40mph or more on empty roads
7 ESC intervention
Once during the last two weeks on climb to highest point on M62, towing at 50mph in heavy rain, no noise or juddering, steering felt vague and car gently moved over to the left seemingly under someone else’s control. Possibly sensed Aquaplaning?
Other coments
8 Sat nav unable to plot a course from Holyhead to Hull without suggesting side trips down some roads at right angles to normal course on fastest route selected
This hardly bothers me as I only turn it on for the comedy anyway, but lord help any inexperienced driver that relies on it, it seems to have a mind of it’s own! It will find with charming regularity the narrowest roads on the planet where both wing mirrors are cleaned at the same time in the greenery. You can never be bored if you use this system and even I find roads I haven’t been on before…delightful.
9 Adaptive Cruise
This is a mixed blessing along the lines of “seeing your Mother in Law going over a cliff in your new car!”
In general It is excellent and if you like “Blowing the car behind into the weeds” easy to achieve by setting the target at the speed limit, and setting off from rest by a tweak on the lever control!I can only assume who set the acceleration rate on it enjoyed embarrassing BMW drivers.
Another creative touch is if the car in front turns sharp left, the radar registers a hazard and hits the brakes, is this a subtle way of selling replacement rear bumper mouldings for this model? So far I have only achieved the odd blare of horns from a couple of 40 ton Articulated Lorries that found this rather gratifyingly startling. It’s a great way of frightening lorry drivers, and lesser mortals. You have to laugh, I suggest that Skoda modify the old Ford Sierra slogan
“Man and machine in perfect harmony” to “The Marriage of Man ,Machine and exciting surprises” and keep a straight face.
Seriously is easily the best car I have ever had, I love it , warts and all.

Which one is it OG, Superb, Octavia, other?

Of course Skoda can't really take blame when most models are VW's thinly disguised.

I had a 2003 Fabia 1.2 for over five years without a single fault of any kind. Never even developed a rattle.

To give that a real world perspective, I could immediately sell my one bedroom flat on the outer edge of London (there's a waiting list to buy them) for enough to buy three of those average Hull houses and a very up-market new car.

It seems the Northern Powerhouse isn't working.
.
That's simply not true flecc, there are no less than three charging points in Hull for that Nissan souped up E car of yours:rolleyes:

It's a 2 litre Octavia, and a great car to drive, it just has a personality problem that's all....
I shall be interested to get his reaction....
So much for Zlatan going on about "Wouldn't do this face to face":D
Clearly there are either software or sensor issues, but to far nothing that shows up on the computer at service time.
The two tyres low pressure at the same time was so odd I photographed the display to prove the point.

The car is still under a one year guarantee, I really just want to register my concerns if the various computer systems in it go on strike, or something untoward happens.

My satnav (being a skinflint I use the "free" Here we go because I thought the built-in one expensive and not so well updated) regularly fails to navigate round Cardigan/Aberteifi. The route initially looks fine, but somewhere near the Teifi it suddenly decides to go to Aberystwyth or Northern Ireland. Most of the rest of the time it is pretty reasonable.

I just wish I could tell it that once I am within a mile or two of home, I most certainly do know my way! (Fair enough if it warns of busy roads.)
