tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock,tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock

It's coming.

Anything can be done. In the main the lawyers & newspaper types who pedal this rubbish are just suits full of fook all. When push comes to shove, they are simply sent home to wet the bed.
Tillson....what specific rubbish are you referring to?
From my view the leavers don't have a plan and any constructive arguments as to why we should leave...in hindsight Boris and Gove never had a plan after winning because there was never a good argument to leave, their argument was based upon lies, political rhetoric and racism disguised, they hardly mentioned the economy,I don't think that has changed since the vote,it's not surprising they don't have a plan because they didn't expect to win,Boris thought it would further his political ambitions he didn't care about Brexit.
In contrast the remainers are amassing their forces and arguments....1000 lawyers are against Brexit, the 1972 ECA act,Nicola Sturgeon and I am aware that some big hitters in the commercial world (read big tax payers)will be lobbying government hard, the banks will be threatening government with what would happen if they lose the EU trading passport.
The remainers also didn't have a plan because they didn't think they could lose but every businessman in the land is aware that a strong plan is evolving, pressure is on the government already but that is nothing to what is coming,I can see Boris swopping sides at some point if May and Davis come under pressure and look vulnerable.
It's all classic knife stabbing politics,if it were fiction it would be a great read, but it's playing games with our country.
Enjoyed the Tour de France today,no less tactical, fabulous terrain.

I think most of the Scottish people are sensible enough to understand they belong in Great Britain.
But most of them were also sensible enough to want to remain in the EU, and therein lies the problem.

They might have a decision to make, which is the more important to them.

Because we are going to have a mutually agreeable trade deal with Germany. :)
Strange change of heart, one moment the EU is the embodiment of evil to Brexiters and Germany which is accused of controlling it is the chief villain. Next a signature on a scrap of paper mades them bosom pals they enjoy trading with.

That, and the fact that are we're primarily an importer, if the € did collapse, we'd suddenly get a load more for our money.

Lots of cheap Audi's and Bosch eBikes ;)

Our current relationship with the EU... no €, a veto on pretty much everything, exemption to Shengen, and the EU requirement to take a certain number of refugees, the rebate, etc etc etc etc, is a good deal. How they hope to negotiate a better one is another one of the things that has never been pointed out.

This seems to be a pretty accurate assessment of the current situation:

http://www.politics.co.uk/blogs/2016/07/14/everything-you-need-to-know-about-theresa-may-s-brexit

oh, and i went for a long ride with my club on Sunday, i was explaining that Shimano and Trek put their prices up last week. It appears Haibike and us and others are all announcing at the moment. The poor guy who voted leave tried to suggest everyone is just jumping on the bandwagon and using it as an opportunity to make some more cash.

By the time we got to the top of Holme Moss, I think he'd understood a lot more about international trade and he used the classic phrase "why did no one tell us this before?"

It appears this vote is going to have to hit people in their pockets before they realise what they have done.

it's unfortunate that most un-informed people voted for brexit, but we won't have the luxury to reverse the result until the next general election. The best solution now is for May to negociate a package deal ready for 2020 general election. I have the feeling that die hard brexiters won't like any deal that Mrs May will propose.

The immediate problem of Brexit is the low value of the £,which will put probably 10% onto everything that is sourced in dollars. But the market is bullish about the week ahead and predicts a 'repair' to 1.38,the point at which I can avoid price rises.
Kudos has hedged for some time and all our new bike stock was purchased at a favourable rate so we can keep bike prices same for most of 2016.
It was interesting that big companies have hedged over 12 months ahead so no immediate pressure to increase prices.

a small group of ecomonists, I think it was 8 wasn't it? I'm sure I could find a report that 8 people agree on about anything. This for instance:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/ufo/8026971/Aliens-have-deactivated-British-and-US-nuclear-missiles-say-US-military-pilots.html

Doesn't mean its factual.

Look at this mornings news...

ARM Holdings agrees to £24bn takeover by Japan's Softbank.... so another UK company sold to foreign investment whilst the £ is so devalued. The world is prospering from the decline in the £, and we won't be able to buy these assets back.

Very interesting, the report does accept that in the short term (how long is short term) the pound will fall, inflation will rise and interest rates will also have to rise.....I dont think that was explained by Boris to the poor of the UK.
It brushes aside such matters as being acceptable for the experiment to be seen through.
It also doesnt address the problems of lack of competiveness when goods are imported then traded onto Europe against restictive tariffs.
It doesnt address the problems of the working poor who would undoubtably clamour for wage rises to pay for higher food costs and interest rates, making us less competitive.
Sort of,if we can keep the patient alive for 10 years the medecine will work, shame he died in 6 months,so we didnt have the opportunity to find out.
But as you say it does present well an alternative view.

I find reading it first before commentating usually works.
Well I did, and noted the complete absence of any interest these economists had on the fate, rights, and well being of the public, as far as they are concerned profit and loss are the primary reason for a society to exist, and added to that they make a lot of assumptions about events that are simply optimistic.
Such a viewpoint demonstrates that decisions on making big changes to society need to be left with people with the ability to understand the human implications of changing the society we belong too.
Economics are only one of many considerations that have to be made, and not even the main one at that.
The happiness of the people is not simply the money in their pockets, that is too simplistic to be a rational argument.
