Jacob Rees-Mogg...the next PM,well the bookies think so. He is the ultimate toff, sort of a thug in a Savile Row suit. Brexiteers like him,Farage and Bannon like him, should appeal to the GOWIT brigade, that is GET ON WITH IT.
Except he is not your affable Hellfire Club toff,he wants to make our economy like Singapore....look up Central Provident Fund,Singapore to see where this guy intends taking us....some snippets....
37% CPF compulsory contributions from every employee
11% flat rate income tax
Could workplace pensions grow into CPF?????

Oddly, the right wing CPF in some of its effects at least is rather like the left wing high taxation in Sweden, both providing for a variety of needs.

Add that 37% and 11% together and the taxation is still much lower than Sweden's, where their society are very content.

except that the 37% is placed on work (earned income) and the 11% on wealth (unearned income).

But there's no denying that these policies have been crucial in making Singapore so wealthy and successful.

They're not nice, but sometimes not being nice is necessary to avoid failure. If we are ever to get our national debt under control we'll have to fall far more short of being nice.

The queue of Malaysians at Johor Bahru's rail and bus stations every morning is the power behind the success of Singapore.

CPF? Central Provident Fund? A scheme intended to provide security in retirement years? What's wrong with that?

Maybe that is what we need.

CPF is more than a pension fund....it provides healthcare, insurance, housing, social care....all ok if you are in work. But if you lose your job you get 'the dole' which is paid at 30% of the lowest subsistence level. The lowest jobs are done by Malay/Thai/Indonesian labour who are paid less than $1.00 per hour.
Asian people are used to being managed, they earn just enough to maintain their existence, most of it going to CPF.
Many Brexiters thought that Brexit would kick out the hard working EE labour and give them well paid easy jobs,Rees-Mogg's Singapore style economy will mean they will have to work hard to succeed, hiring and firing is easy.....as a boss there is a lot to like in that but I bet the guys who live in Wetherspoons on benefits will soon regret their Brexit vote.
As you say whats wrong with that!!!!!

I bet they will, but cast their vote they did, so they have no grounds for complaining.

in principle I agree (and would love to see the xenophobic self-serving benefit cheating shits getting up at 4am to push hospital trolleys, sweep streets and clean sewers, etc). in practice, much as I like him, I fear it will be much easier for them to vote for corbyn's equally populist fantasies once they begin to feel some pain and try to reverse brexit

This is the biggest risk factor associated with the Brexit process. I don’t have an issue with Corbyn, but he comes packaged with hideous & dangerous people.

And like Victorian times have a rich "Economy" and people dying of hunger, cold and disease in the streets while the rich thrive?
Include me out.

How do you know who lied more than whom?

You don't know for sure which brexit we are going to get, how do you know if you are going to suffer?

There has always been a cost to all the votes. If there weren't any, votes wouldn't be needed.

fitness for the purpose is not the purpose of the vote. People voted for change, so the politicians are mandated to bring about changes.
Lets take them one at time
How do you know who lied more than whom?
It is not relevant is it? the Remain lies in fact seem closer to reality that the leave campaigns "Sunshine and £350 million for the NHS

Whatever kind of Brexit we get will mean we are leaving a safe haven and trying to compete with an incompetent Government, Industry and Management , not helped by a workforce expecting Rainbows and Unicorns, not to be treated like wage slaves.

How do I know we are going to suffer ? simply someone has to pay for this fantasy, and it is intended by the movers and shakers to reduce the workforce to docile peons who will work for peanuts.

Votes are cheap, False promises of better times bought the Brexit Victory, unless you are referring to the DUP of course, in which case I agree with you!

Fitness for purpose ? People voted because they were promised it would make their lives better, not worse?
Politicians were not mandated to bring about any change that didn't IMPROVE THEIR LOT.
If they imagine they are going to turn this country into a slave labour economy they will find themselves wearing Tar and Feathers at the very least.
Brexit was a WARNING to them not a licence to abuse the Public.

I reckon they have a valid point of view to make, that is democracy comes at a high economic cost. There must be a day and year zero somewhere, so why not 'independence day'?
To me, right or wrong democratic decisions, democracy needs to be tested to be valid.
Seppuku Day is closer.
