Help!

I ordered an Ezee Forte from 50Cycles back in January, which got delayed...and delayed...and delayed.

It took so long - without any real light at the end of the tunnel - that I agreed to go for a Kalkhoff Pro Connect instead, as they should be delivered in time for May.

But they've been delayed...and delayed...and delayed...

I've just spoken to Tom at 50Cycles who can't even give me any delivery date at all now , but says he has an Agattu in stock he can give me.

Any views on how this compares to the Pro Connect? What am I sacrificing?

Thanks.

PS Is anyone else as frustrated as I am? I'm beginning to understand why the electric bike industry in the UK is so slow moving!;)

Can I ask what you are using it for - commuting or leasure (or combination)? Might help to make an informed decision.

Both, hopefully. I have a commute to work each day, mostly along pathways and through parkland (Wimbledon/Richmond). I'd also like to go out with my sons along Thames towpath etc.?
There's something about the Agattu that just doesn't look right compared to Pro Connect...just can't put my finger on it.
Thanks.

Handlebars have been described (not by me) as being 'a bit gay'. I have changed mine to something similar to the Pro-connect and it looks much better IMHO.

To answer you previous question. The main differences are the 8 speed hub and the lack of suspesion forks (comfort over weight). The Pro-connect is of course lighter because of the forks and lack of things like the dynamo hub. I don't think that the extra gear is anything to get excited about as, on an electric bike, gears have less importance. Unless you are in very hilly area you will probably start in 4 and go straight to 8 (or 7 with the Agattu). There is an issue with the 7 speed not being as robust as the 8 speed. There have been quite a few 7 speed failures but we don't know much about the reliability of the 8 speed in a pedelec bike.

My only advice is to go over the specifications and see what you can and can't live with. For me I went with the Agattu because I do a lot of commuting (summer and winter), I value comfort, not bothered about the extra gear and just as importantly the Agattu was significantly cheaper.

Ha - girly was the word that sprung to my mind!! :D

Now that I've put my finger on it, I'll have a closer look at the specs as comfort will of course be important to me.

What do you mean though 7 speed failures? Sounds a bit alarming

Gears 6 and 7 disappearing. Have a look at some other threads on the forum. Seems a rogue batch of 7 speed hubs are causing some problems.

I have been following my girlfriend into work for nearly 2 weeks. she has an agattu and i have a pro connect on order. i am riding a mountain bike with similar handle bars to the pro.

i am finding that i want to push myself upright all the time as i am leaning forward on the bars. i am v jealous of zoe as her handle bars are very sit up and beg. so no back strain problems.

drop handle bars were never an issue for me when i was a lad.so problems with something in between is a surprise. its not causing pain. just after 20 mins or so i want to sit up straight.

i have been wondering if i will have the same problem when i get my pro. i might end up with roadster type bars on. my some silver streamers stuffed in theend for effect.

Harry,
I've been thinking of changing my Agattu handlebars. Any chance of a photo of your bike?

Gay Bars

I'm quite happy with the standard bars on both my wave and diamond frame Agattus:cool: But I then I chose to have flourescent pink velcro on my hand splint:confused:

You might find it more comfortable if you adjust the angle of your saddle slightly. If you tilt the front up a couple of degrees it will make your weight significantly less likely to move forward on to the handlebars.

Those handlebars look more like the Agattu ones but in black. The photo on 50 Cycles' website look much less swept back than yours. 50cycles Electric Bikes UK - New Kalkhoff Pro Connect Pedelec Electric Bicycle High Resolution image and specification Grips look different too.
I think your right there Harry. It looks like they have gone for the swept bars on the pro connect 45 (only available in step through). Maybe its down to the geometry of the wave frame.

Paul

And here (hopefully) is a photo of the Pro Connect 45cm handlebars.....

Pro Connect handlebars

Perhaps not as straight as I was anticipating but comfortable when riding.

plus a couple of others as I was previously asked to provide some:

Rear

Fullbike

Battery

Those handlebars look ever so much like the Agattu's
I would check that with 50cycles if I were you.
Check out the photo and compair.
