One more thing, would you mind looking at the link below to see if this is the same, just in case I cannot join topbikekit.com. The displays look the same but not sure if controller will do.

12a is a bit weedy, get the same one from PSWpower with 17a output.

The 17a one should have a speed sensor wire mine has , if not it is still very easy to wire one in 7 it supports lighting no problem.
You need controller and display.
Your PAS will wire in ok and throttle 3 wire will wire in ok. Lights should be able to wire them in.

Only the 2nd Sm one has light and speed sensor output,
light is Blue/Black two wire.
Thanks for both your replies, We reckon that we’ll go with the AliExpress ones, because they have the 9 mosfets that you mentioned before that are better for heat dissipation.
so here is the list of what we’ll buy if this is okay, you said you could check it over for us.
And this as a display, because it looks like it is really easy to program, and we did struggle with the previous one,

brakes, throttle and pas look like they should be okay as they seem to be the right amount of wires, but if you wouldn’t mind checking over for us one more time we would really appreciate it.
And if this doesn’t work we’ll be bugging you for help to buy new bikes!!!:p (Not really)

Hello again.....
I have received the controllers etc in just over a week which is excellent, but I just need to pick your brains with a couple of wires just to make sure before I connect.

Firstly throttle and pas please see pic, original first then new.

Also, Brakes are just one pair coming out of controller, and I have two, (one front one rear) do I just connect my two together into one pair?

There is a HWBS out of the controller, not sure what that is, and a mystery blue and black next to the speed sensor wires in the sellers photo, could be lights as the seller meantions it has light output also,

lastly a second mystery in the final photo of ours a yellow and black also next to the speed sensor.

Thanks again, hope you don’t mind me checkin......

After that I also noticed on my hall connector I have a white wire that was never connected , should I include that now?

Not all connectors will match existing that is often why we say buy everything from the same seller so they simply plug and play. However you can simply buy new connectors to mate with each other for connection, getting the wire sequence correct is often the easy bit.

The controller throttle is a dj7031a series connector.

Look for JST Sm 3 connectors on ebay or AliEx for the PAS type connector.

The brake you only need one on the rear which is the two wire one, the wire one is also a Brake cut out HWBS is a Hidden Wire Brake Sensor for fitting inline on cable brakes.

Blue and Black is alight output I believe.

The White is a hub internal speed sensor, if you are using an external speed sensor and wheel magnet connect the White to the spedd sensor signal wire. The speed sensor Black and Red can connect to Black and Red also in that hall block so they piggy back of the Gnd & 5v supply.

Okay, do you know what would happen if I joined the two brakes together? And sorry but I don’t know what you mean by ‘the wire one is also a brake cut out.’

I did purchase these of the same seller....

As I’m not sure if mine has any built in speed sensor seeing as the white wire was disconnected.

It should have read 'the three wire one is also a brake cut out'.
The controller has two different brake cut outs you can use, you don't need two as they just complicate things.
I you join both together they will work but if one develops and issue you have no bike power and then you can't find out which one is the issue, trust me you only need one connected for the back brake.

Thanks for that, now I understand so I’ll just connect the rear brake.
For some reason I am having problems with the spelling corrections on this site. I’m using an iPad and sometimes it corrects probably and sometimes it removes the words or some it leaves half a word. Anyway that’s a different subjec...... see it’s just done it there!

One last time if the motor wire uses/has 9 pins then it has internal speed sensor and you need to input the White wire in to the block colour to colour.

If the motor wire only has 8 wires then you need to wire up the external speed sensor and fit the spoke magnet as per post #69.

Thanks again for your advice. I really do need and appreciate it.

I have connected up as advised but I’m again sorry to say that I’ve run into another problem…..

When I open the throttle with the new controller everything sounds fine until I reach just pass 1/2 way speed then I get a loud squealing sound from the motor. I reconnected the old controller and it sounds and works fine.

The colours in the hall sensor match, (I tried it with and without the white wire connected, and with the pas being Black to Black, brown to red, yellow to green.

I also limited the speed to 17mph with the display.

To show you I’ve uploaded two quick videos so you can hear it just in case you have any ideas.

I’m really sorry about this, you must be as cheesed off as me. I’m starting to regret trying something that is beyond me really. At least I can go back to the old controller and use it until it packs up.

Also I’ve tried both controllers and they’re the same.

Try using the C5 parameter and reduce the controller current, drop to current level 3 as I think you will have the new LCD software then try it.
Your old controllers are on 15a so it may be the battery can't deliver the current or the motor doesn't like the extra current. I use the KT 9 mosfet and have no problems with them what so ever with my geared hubs.

What happens in PAS 5 setting turning the cranks?

Also the P1 setting value may be wrong but we don't know much about your motor, can you tell us what the P1 value is ?

Don't give up on the KT's as they are very good , it might need some more patience and a few settings changes.
Can you tell us mor eabout the hub motor used ?
