It's a KTM Macina Cross with hub gears, so detuned compared to Bosch bikes with derailleurs. A bit over 3 years old at the time of the test.
all the Bosch motors are 350w software restricted to 250w unless its an sclass bike then its sold as 350w with a top speed of 28mph.
if you dongle a 250w motor then it is even faster than 28mph as mine cuts out at 35mph.
the bosch motor can pull as much as 700w same as the Yamaha motors.
tho going that fast makes my 500w batt last 25 miles so a lot less range.
i can do 1.4 miles in 4.11 sec down the canal path.

3 years old it still looks a superb bike. Did you buy it complete or did you have it converted? KTM seem to be one of the top notch bikes.

you can get about the same performance to the s-class pedelecs by converting a good bike with the BBS02.
A fair bit cheaper too.

It was new in that photo, although it still looks good now with over 8,000 miles on the clock.
A factory bike with a few additions added by me, it was around £1.300 new.
I will say that just because it suits me it is fair to say that it won't suit everyone.
I'd hazard a guess that most of Juicy bikes customers would probably choose the Juicy over mine on a short test ride,
Aha, I don't need speed so much as pulling power do the bafang cd motors work well with all gear types? Derailleur, nexus 8 gear hub, sram 3 gear hub?

As you mentioned earlier the big bear has a 20A controller and a 15AH battery, I am guessing that that controller is higher than most bikes in its class and above.

the BBS02 is too powerful for hub gears, even for the 3-speed SRAM.
you have to have derailleur.
The BBS01 work well with any hub gear, perhaps not with the SRAM 2-speed automatix though, a bit too limited.
likely yes. The crank drive BBS02 is awesome derestricted. Basically, the BPM will beat most bikes out there up to about 20mph. It accelerates faster than smaller motors. From about 17-18mph, the motor comes close to its noload speed, its yield drops fast, you won't get much more speed than 21mph. On the other hand, all the CD bikes are only limited by how fast you can pedal. Younger riders can take full advantage of this, and easily hit 28mph. To stay road legal, you have of course to restrict your speed.
I've replaced the drive-side bottom bracket bearing twice, although I could have left the second change for another 2,000 miles or so I think.
No sure, I'll try and keep it going for as long as possible, motor or battery repair costs will feature in that decision at some point, as long as replacements or rejuvenations aren't too expensive it will live on.
If you were starting from scratch with a £1,600 budget what would you buy?
