    Post-Winter potholes

The bike needed a new 3 speed switch and changer. I replaced the v brakes with better quality ones just to be on the safe side. Commuting to work is a bit hairy in the rush hour but the accident took place on a straight deserted stretch of road on a Sunday! You may find it takes several...

    Post-Winter potholes

The one real downside to this ebiking mlarkey is that it is very dangerous. I hope you recover quickly from your accident. My experience of A&E is exactly yours. I woke up in hospital a few weeks ago after crashing the bike down a straight downhill stretch of road. Someone found me in the road...

    Woosh Crank Bike review

Well done Hatti for delivering such well thought out and affordable bikes to us consumers. This has several benefits over the cheap 250w GNG kits. Its brush-less, drives the crank directly and is waterproof. You don't have to fit the damn thing either.

    Trade Free Sunday

I like the comments from trade members. Their interest is openly declared so in some ways their opinion can be better evaluated than a non trade member whose provenance is unknown.

    Which saddle do you use?

I found with the b17 the horizontal positioning is absolutely critical. Uncomfortable unless exactly right. It does take time for the posterior to become imprinted with the b17 shape as well. V nice saddle then however.

    Which saddle do you use?

I like the Brooks b67 aged. It was comfortable from the start and can confirm the counter intuitive idea that soft saddles are more uncomfortable (on longer rides). For me, Parallelogram suspension seat posts are also another important adjunct to rider comfort. I noticed that Suntour are...

    The cunning plan progresses

Another idea might be what I did with mine. I bought a 500w brushed controller from eBay user nova products uk. To use this controller you have to connect the key function unlike my previous controller. I wired in a maplin on off toggle. Useful if the throttle jams full on. But it also has a...

    Suspension changes for chain drive?

You could argue that a sprung saddle is a mild form of rear suspension and they have been used with rigid forks since the dawn of cycling. Sit up and beg Dutch style bikes often come with suspension seat posts as well, which is logical, since the weight is on your rear not your wrists. Road...

    Commuter Light Deal

I recently brought a set of these lights. There appear to be different versions of the smart lights. The version of the the smart light I have does not have the strip in the middle of the front light. The Maplins light gives a less focused beam than this smart version. Which is better I can't...

    GnG mid-drive kit

Finally got out yesterday and today to test the new build. Firstly the construction. The main problem was that the chain stay had no space for the fixing brackets because the wheel and side stand bracket were in the way. I managed to fix this using cable tie reinforced hotglue! The real secret...

Close Encounter with the (new model) GnG 36v. 250w mid-drive kit

I am waiting for tomorrow night to try and complete my build. There is no reason to suppose that mine is going to be any different from yours. I discovered with 700c wheels the fixing points are blocked by the wheel and the sidestand housing. I have managed to lash something together with zip...

Close Encounter with the (new model) GnG 36v. 250w mid-drive kit

The Ebay guy sent me this information for wiring the 250w 36v (original) controller: 1. The thick Black and Red wires from the controller are positive(red) and negative( black) wires for the battery 2. The thick blue and White wires are positive and negative wires for the motor 3. The...

    GnG mid-drive kit

I see your point. You want some fine granularity between the gears. My idea with this bike was to have a fastish normal ride bike and to have a hill climbing gear a "hub gear" and a down hiller. Its the low power 15a controller so don't know how it will pan out in practice. I hope pan isn't...
