Actually you may have found the problem, they are very sensitive to chain lubrication. Give it a really good clean and lube, including the SRS gear and see if it changes it. In some conditions I need to redo it after 10 miles. My new Haibike Nduro Pro is much worse in this regard than either of...

One thing that I learnt was that sizing on Haibikes is not consistent across the range, so I use 44cm AMT Pros and 47cm NDURO Pro and they feel the same. The geometry on the Trekking will be different again so I would urge you to sit on the actual bike before committing.

I prefer my 250W bosch bikes over my 750w Bafang mid drive. I only take the Bafang when my Haibike is broken. Not ridden the 1000W but the power is not the issue.
