    No motor

50Cycles have been in touch already and they're going to pick it up which is a load off my mind. Hopefully I'll be back up and running soon and then trouble free for a good while. I can't wait to get my bike back, it's taken me more that two hours to get home on public transport twice this week...

    No motor

Now I can;t get it to switch on the motor at all, however I do think the 5 plug bit on the right-hand front fork feels loose and I'm sure I can feel at least one that isn't plugged in to anything. Is this something I should undo myself and try to plug in or should I send it back to 50Cycles...

    No motor

Thanks everyone. Okay I unscrewed the accelerator twist grip and suddenly the motor started. But it cut out straight away. I repeated this a number of times (I had to turn it off with the key each time). The red light is now flashing 8 times once the motor has cut out. Anyone know what that...

    No motor

Nope, straight to red no flashing at all. I just checked the connectors look fine to me (a little bit of what looks like carbon on the bottom of one of them, but I cleaned them). So frustrating. I did take of the accelerator a while ago and put it back on to move the handlebars to a new angle...

    No motor

Well my new NiMH battery arrived today (hooray), it wasn't charged (boo) so I charged it up until there was a green light (hooray), I plugged it in the bike and a solid red light came on next to the key (hooray), a green light showed on the handlebars (hooray), I twisted accelerator and NOTHING...

    Convince me to stay electric

When I ordered it they said there would be a shipment early November and they will be sent out perhaps the second week in November, so it'll be interesting to see when it does arrive. Somehow (perhaps I'm a natural pessimist) I expect you're right. However I did cycle in again today, I'm not...

    Convince me to stay electric

Well I cycled to work on my Torq without a motor for the past four days, and I'm not sure I can do it tomorrow, hopefully my replacement battery will come soon, boy it's hard work without assistance!

    I Love my Torq

I love mine too (when it's working). It's so great to be able to get to work every day quicker and more conveniently than on public transport. I am amazed that taking the bus and tube takes between 1 hour and 1 1/2 hours, but cycling takes 45 minutes! It's great. Even when it's raining I...

    Tyre Pressure

Okay, I have an eZee Torq, and I have had to change the tyres/inner tube a number of times due to punctures. Now should I inflate the tyres according to the tyre specification or according to the Torq instructions (much lower pressure)? If you have a Torq what front and back pressures do you...

    Convince me to stay electric

Ooooohhhh, flecc and Harry that's very interesting, it may do as a top-up at work if necessary. Thanks guys, I've never been to a forum where people are so knowledgeable and helpful before!

    Convince me to stay electric

You're right, I think I will try the first week with only a nightly charge charge and see how it goes. As Harry says I will probably need one in the future, maybe by then someone will have discivered one that automatically discharges the battery when needed.

    Convince me to stay electric

Well I consulted my meagre bank account, bit the bullet and bought a new NiMH battery and charger, which will take a few weeks to be off back order I expect. I asked 50Cycles if I could at least swap a Lithium charger for a NiMH one, but no reply. Wish me luck with the lifetime of this...

    discharging NIMh batteries

Good question, I'm wondering exactly the same thing. If it needs to be done every 10 charges or so than that's pretty much every week for me. I'm also hoping someone can come up with an easy way to do this (I suppose turning the bike upside down and taping the accelerator on may have to do).

Which make of electric bike do you own?

Does anyone know if the statistics here are representative of the market in general. EZee look like they're doing well (which is good as I have an eZee Torq) with 41% on this board. Anyone have any ideas as to how many e-bikes there are in the UK (or whichever country you come from)?

How long do you expect to keep your bike?

The lights go to red (if they aren't already there which they usually are now, but no when it first started hapenning) then all flash then all turn off for a very short period, then come back on on green, at that point I can re-twist the accelerator and the motor starts again (temporarily)...

How long do you expect to keep your bike?

It charges just fine, there's no indication while charging that there's a problem. It lasts about 5-10 minutes with no apparent problems, after that it cuts out whenever I go above about 10 mph (which is basically all the time). It will cutout, and then immediately come back on again(after I...

    Convince me to stay electric

If you're right flecc, and I see no reason why you're not, then why are Lithium batteries still being sold, what's their advantage to the sellers? Is it just a misunderstanding of their characteristics, a fear of retribution over selling an inferior product, or a genuine belief that Lithium...

How long do you expect to keep your bike?

Well you say that, and of course I'm just one, perhaps unlucky, case, but after 18 months the 'planetary gears inside the motor seized' (I'm sure someone knows what that means) and I needed a new motor. Thankfully 50Cycles replaced it free of charge (extended warranty), and once I get a working...

    Convince me to stay electric

Well, thanks everyone for your opinions, I've decided to stick with my Torq and to buy a NiMH battery and two chargers (say goodbye to my savings). I want to stress I don't blame 50Cycles for this as it appears no one really knew just how long Lithium batteries would last, however I do hope they...

How long do you expect to keep your bike?

Electric bikes of course are very dependent on batteries, and as we know battery technology is continually changing. On top of that new bike models are continually coming out. Do you expect to be able to find replacement batteries for your current bike in the future? How far into the future...
